Chapter Text
Blue grunted as he hit the tree for the fifth time this entire battle.
“Aww, what's wrong Baby Blue? Can’t keep up?”
Killer taunted the tired skeleton as the rest of the crew snickered.
Blue swallowed the swear he wanted to let out and picked himself up. It has been a long week.
Ink and Dream were on a helping spree. At first, it didn’t sound terrible since they jumped from Au to Au helping people. Something Blue loved doing. However, both gods forget that Blue is mortal and needs breaks. So Blue was forced to scarf down any food he got his hands on in a few seconds and enjoy any free minutes he had to nap before being dragged to the next Au.
Sure, Dream gave him a magic boost for him to keep up, but magic can not replace the much-needed sleep and nutrients his body needed.
So yea, he was running on low.
Then his brother decided to badger him over the phone about how he was rarely home. Which then led to another argument on how a career change was needed.
He hung up the phone when Dream said they were heading to a new Au. He will be dealing with that later.
Finally, both gods had calmed down from their streak of helping, and the Bad Sanses decided to destroy an Au. So, of course, being the good guys, they just had to go and save it.
Not like they could wait 30 minutes, since apparently Error could destroy an Au in a blink of an eye.
So excuse him for wanting to smack the smirk off Killer’s stupidly smug face.
Taking a breath, Blue ready himself for the next round.
He needed to stay calm, happy, and-
“I’m bored, should we go bug Ink and Error. Maybe we get a real challenge then”
He glared over to a yawning Dust as Killer nodded.
“Yea, see ya Baby Blue. Try not to be boring next time”
Fuck being bubbly.
Blue gripped his hammer and swung it. Hitting and knocking out the nearest skeleton.
Horror fell down and crashed face first. Dirt flew from the impact and swept over the two stunned skeletons.
Killer was the first to shake off the shock and flipped a knife into his hand.
“Well then, Baby Blue did come to play”
Blue glared at Killer and adjusted his grip on his hammer. Killer grinned at the blood lust in the usually happy skeleton's eyes.
“Keep looking at me like that and I'm going to start swooning”
Without hesitation, both skeletons clashed and fought on.
A couple yards away, the Creator and Destroyer were fighting as usual.
Ink twirled away from a gaster blaster and smiled at the frustration on Error’s face.
“Come on, glitchy! I know you can do better than that!”
Gritting his teeth, Error pulled some strings out of his sockets and sent them to capture the annoying Squid.
“Shut up Ink, or I’ll shut your stupid mouth for you!”
Ink just barely dodged the blue lines before staring at Error mischievously.
“You know that sounds a lot like you want to kiss me glitchy~”
“As if. You're disgusting!”
Error sent his strings out to trap this stupid abomination. Fuck him and his stupid attitude. As if Error would want to touch that thing. He knew this was the same motherfucker who had jumped into mud multiple times thinking he could travel through it since it was similar to his ink.
The idiot always ended up swallowing a bunch of the dirt and wondering what happened.
Before the strings could even get to Ink, something slammed into the Creator and landed right in the middle of Dream and Nightmare's fight. Stopping that fight as they stare at the pile of mangled limbs.
Ink was knocked out with Killer and Dust right on top of him. Passed out as well.
Error looked towards where the bodies had come from and saw Blue walking over calmly.
Error would yell at Blue for interrupting him from hitting Ink, but the unhinged gait of the skeleton stopped him. He instead closed his mouth and backed away slowly. Blue was pissed and Error knew that, for his survival, he should leave.
The last time he messed with Blue while pissed, Error had bruises for weeks and couldn’t find a lot of his stuff for months.
So yea, he is going to sit back and just watch as the apple brothers struggle to deal with an angry Blue.
Dream looked concerned at Blue as he walked closer. He knew his friend was probably tired since they were busy this entire week, but seeing him now, Dream could see the bags underneath his sockets.
He knew that he sometimes forgets that Blue needs breaks.
It wasn’t intentional!
Dream just gets so hyper-focused on helping that everything kind of fades away. Of course, he helps Blue by offering his magic. So he shouldn’t be this tired, right?
Dream reached out to Blue.
“Hey, Blue are you alright-”
Blue stopped his walking and stared at the nervously sweating skeleton with a grin.
“Okay? Hahaha. Yeah, I’m okay”
Blue curled into himself. The chuckles turned into laughter as his mood switched to a more hysterical attitude.
“I just haven't had a meal for a week or been in bed, but I’ve never felt better!”
He walked closer to Dream and happily swung his hammer carelessly around him, knocking down a tree.
“I just love feeling like I am running on empty and relying on your positive magic, which, by the way, makes me feel even more empty when it runs out. Then having to fight while Tweedle-dee and Tweddle dumb antagonize me”
Blue, at this point, passed the group of skeletons and kicked the group.
Dream frowned and could feel the guilt gnaw at him. He didn’t know his magic had that effect on Blue. They definitely needed to talk about this, but right now, he needed to help calm down Blue. The look in his eyes had Dream shivering and the underlying taste of anger was sour in his mouth.
“Look Blue, I’m sorry. We should have been more-”
Blue cut Dream off by glaring at him. His hues sharpen into malice as he stares at the guardian.
“Not right now Dream. Just do the stupid petty fight you have with your brother, and let's head back. I want to sleep now”
Nightmare, watching this whole thing amused, felt a stab of annoyance at Blue calling their fights petty.
It wasn’t petty.
His and Dream's fights were fights to the death, not some sibling squabbles.
As if a mortal could understand the complications of what goes on between gods. Also, he hurt his boys, so fuck this blue prick.
“If you wish to sleep so badly, why don’t you do everyone a favor here and leave. Your presence is not needed”
Nightmare could hear the creak of Blue’s neck from how fast the Skeleton turned towards him.
“Excuse me”
While the look would have been intimidating, Nightmare has faced worse things than a temper tantrum from a workaholic. For instance, murders on sugar highs.
“I am just saying that if you wanted to sleep or rest you could have just left and done that instead of forcing yourself to work. You are not needed every time. For you to think your that important, well that's very egoistic don’t you think”
“Pot meet the kettle. You're the most prideful person I have ever met for no reason.”
Nightmare raised an eyebrow.
“What do you mean no reason? I am the king of negativity I have decimated Au’s, killed thousands, and-”
“And have temper tantrums with your brother. Boo hoo, your not well-liked get over yourself”
Nightmare felt the previous annoyance fester into vexation as he calmly stalked towards the equally irritated Blue.
“That’s not what occurs here, you simpleton”
Blue rolled his eyes and looked right back at Nightmare, unscared.
“Oh really? Because that’s exactly how it looks. Sorry for calling it as I see it”
“If we are calling it as we see it, then explain to me where the supposed bubbly and kind Blueberry went. Perhaps being fake is just something you're used to being. Not that unusual since all stars seem to be such good liars”
“At least I don’t lie about how much I care about people”
“No, you just pretend to”
Dream had inched his way over to Error, concern. He has never seen his brother or best friend this angry before. Or seen them fight. He wasn’t sure he wanted to.
“Um, do you know what’s going on?”
Error looked over the guardian with annoyance.
“Does it look like I do? All I know is I’m staying away from the hissy fight happening there for my own sake”
Dream would have tried to persuade Error to help if he didn’t hear Blue yelling. His bright blue eyes looked down at his brother vindictively.
Dream had never seen that from his Best friend
“OH, WOES IS ME MOMMY, DIDN’T LOVE ME ENOUGH!”
Only to be followed by Nightmare yelling back just as pissed. His usual careful pronunciation tossed to the side for the more rough tone Dream had never heard from the calm skeleton.
“OH LOOK AT ME, I’M BLUE THE LOVABLE TWO-FACED BITCH!”
“FUCK YOU!”
“NO FUCK YOU!”
The insults only spiraled down into a yelling match where no one could understand what the other was saying. Only that they were trying to yell louder than the other.
Dream spoke out loud to the only sane person left awake on the field.
“Should we do something?”
Error didn’t respond and Dream turned to see the Destroyer sitting on a hammock made out of his stings, fully invested in what was occurring.
“No, I want to see who wins this”
Dream just sighed and sat down as well. He had no idea how this would end, but he was too tired to try right now as he heard the screaming match behind him.
At least Blue was getting out his frustrations and his brother was acting childish again. That’s gotta count for something, right?
