The sun was shining through the curtains of a dark room, enlightening All might and Dynamight posters plastered on the walls. A soft snoring could be heard from under the covers on the bed. The picture of a young boy with his mom was standing on the corner of the desk.
It was around 9 a.m on a sunday when Midoriya Izuku, a quirkless high schooler, received a call from the pro hero Dynamight, Bakugo Katsuki.
The hero needed help. Izuku, who's mom was a single parent working two jobs to keep her and her son's life great, loved his mom dearly and was respectful of all she did for them both. He always saw her as his hero. She was always number 1 in his life, despite loving other heroes, like all might, the retired hero, the previous number one, and Dynamight, the current number 1 on the heroes charts, who trained with All Might during his high school years. Izuku wanted to be a hero once, when he was a kid, and then he turned out quirkless. He got quickly rejected by society, bullied, and it got worse in middle school, when he presented.
Since the beginning of humanity, people had a 2nd gender, there was 4 of them; most people presented as betas, it was mostly a no-presentation, betas had weak scents, and weren't really affected by other's scents.
Then there were Alphas, most of the successful people in the modern world were Alphas, they were symbols of strength and determination, they were put on a piedestal since the beginning and most families prayed to have an alpha son or daughter.
Better than alphas, it rarely happened that people presented as Enigmas, Enigmas were stronger than anything, their scent more powerful than Alphas' and they were so rare than they would be loved and praised since childhood.
And finally, there were Omegas, like Izuku. Izuku was born from 2 beta parents, so he never got taught what to do when he presented, and when his dad left, though his mom did everything to help him, he had to learn a lot by himself.
Like how Omegas were treated in his world. If you asked Izuku a word to describe it, he'd say "bad".
In fact, people like Izuku, who were omegas, were so rejected and mistreated by society, they became rare too. More common than Enigmas, but more rare than Alphas.
The reason was simple ; they weren't as powerful as the other genders and most of them were seen as nothing but holes to fill, baby incubators.
Considering that Alphas and Omegas were suppposed to be paired together, since it was easier to conceive, especially since they had ruts/heats at least 6 times a year.
Alphas and Enigmas were more violent during their ruts, wanting to knot someone, wanting to mate, and becoming extremly territorial with others. Omegas needed to be knotted, to be taken care of, they needed to be safe during their heats and often had a nest that smelled of them and their mate or family. It made no sense.
Heats and ruts were painful if the person did not have a mate, or at least a partner, and for some reason, Omegas were seen as whores, just because they could carry babies, as much as beta women, and even there, beta women were prioritized, since they did not have heats.
Izuku was 17, he was doing great in high school, currently in the top 5 of his class, he tried getting a part time job, to help his mom, but no one would take him because of his second gender, even with all the motivation in the world, nobody would take him.
So he got an idea, he proposed himself as a babysitter, putting a post about him on a website for babysitters. He had a nephew, Kota, and a niece, Eri, who were 8 and 7, and great kids, he could already tell that with his temperament, Kota would probably be an alpha. Both kids loved him, and he cared and loved them back. He was great with kids, so it should work.
He put a picture of him on his profile, his age, where he lived and the town he lived in. Musutafu was where he lived as a child and as a teen. He also added that he could help kids with school and the times when he can watch kids, he finally put a price for every hour he would watch the kid(s), and posted his profile.
This night, when Izuku went to bed he never thought he would get the attention of the number 1 hero, and he would've never guessed what would happend after.
Dynamight just came back from an all-day mission and rushed to his son's school, his boy, Kenji, was 8 and was waiting with his teacher, seeing the number one hero coming to get his son, the beta frowned.
'M.Bakugo, you can't keep being this late anymore, I know you're a hero, but we can't let your son go back to his home alone. It's the 5th time this month, we'll have to call police someday.'
Katsuki sighed, he knew Kenji was an intelligent boy, but he also knew he can't keep making him wait everyday after school.
'I understand, he replied, I'll do something, it won't happen again.' Katsuki offered his hand to his son, but Kenji didn't take it, instead, he got up and waited for his dad to start going home.
Katsuki turned around and walked, hearing Kenji's footsteps following his. He vaguely heard the teacher wishing him a good day.
Katsuki was an enigma, he just turned 28 on the 20th of April, his son, Kenji, was born when Katsuki was 19. Kenji never knew his mom, Katsuki would never say it in his son's face, but he was a mistake, he and his (ex)girlfriend were never ready for a child and as soon as the mom gave birth to Kenji, she left without a trace. Katsuki loved his son, he tried everything to keep him happy, he could buy his son the whole world, but he knew that what Kenji needed wasn't expensive objects. It was love. Katsuki knew he couldn't give his son his full time, he had a job, taxes to pay, he would make as much time as he could for his son, but it was never enough, and being the number 1 didn't help.
This time he couldn't make it to his son's school in time, again. He was tired, tired of seeing the sadness in his son's green eyes, the fear of abandonement in those pools of green that reminded him so much of his ex. Kenji got everything from his dad from his personality to his quirk and his look except his eye color.
He had to do something, he needed a caretaker. Problem is, Dynamight was a really picky character.
He searched everywhere, contacted his pr team, who presented him people, none whom Katsuki appreciated. He asked his hero team, (he knew they were his friends, but he didn't want to give them the pleasure of calling them that) and they didn't knew anyone who he could like.
'Why not just find a new partner ?' Kirishima, his best friend since his high school years at Ua, suggested.
'I don't want to court someone just to ask them to take care of my child. Also it's hard to find someone who would accept someone else's pup.' Katsuki answered, glaring at the red-haired alpha.
He knew Kirishima had dumb ideas sometimes, but seducing someone because you can't take care of your child is a horrible one.
'Well, maybe try to use internet, there are a lot of people looking for jobs on some websites.' Mina, his other hero friend adviced. The beta was always a smart girl, so was Katsuki.
'You think I didn't already try that ?' The Enigma growled, his scent turning sour from desesperation.
Mina and Kirishima looked at each other, the couple didn't mind being scent-bombed by the enigma, they were used to it. Kenji was asleep and it was late in the night when Katsuki called them for help, both of them let out a comforting scent, trying to help the enigma.
'Don't give up, I'm sure you'll find someone Bakubro !' Kirishima offered a smile to his friend, fortunately, it seemed to work as Katsuki looked in his eyes and replied with a 'I guess'.
When the couple announced they had to go, Katsuki told them goodbye and continued looking at websites.
While scrolling through the different profiles of various people offering to babysit, Katsuki was only interested by one of them.
The boy was an omega, had emerald eyes, emerald hair, and freckles danced on his face, he was so pretty, and had such a happy smile, Katsuki's eyes widened when looking at the profile picture.
More than just the apparence, it seemed that the omega was very smart. 17 and in his final year of High school, Katsuki saved the omega number, waiting for the next day to call the young man.
'Deku Midoriya' Katsuki read out loud. The enigma smiled softly.
The next day, when Katsuki called Izuku Midoriya's number, he was met with a very sleepy, soft voice, wondering if the omega just woke up, Katsuki smiled at the thought.
'I'm Izuku Midoriya, do you need any help ?' the voice on the other side spoke.
Oh god, his voice was angelic, Katsuki thought.
'Hello, I'm calling you because of the babysitter post you made on xxxxxxxx' The enigma answered. 'I would like to meet you so I can engage you to take care of my son.'
In his room, Izuku got up quickly from his bed, already preparing an outfit to go out. 'Yes ! Yes of course ! Where do we meet ? And at what time ?'
After some time, they agreed to meet up at Katsuki's house, and when Izuku arrived here, he had to triple-check the address, paste it on the internet, and wondered if he was being pranked as the house in front of him was Dynamight's. As in Dynamight, the number 1 hero. Izuku didn't even know the hero had a son, he just knew that he wasn't married nor had a girlfriend.
He took out his phone and called the number. It ringed for 10 seconds before Katsuki took his phone and answered the call.
'Are you okay ? Is there a problem for you to call me ?' He asked.
'Ah, no no, don't worry, it's just that I didn't know if I had to ring our not, but I am in front of the house you sent me !' Izuku informed.
'Oh, sure, I'll be there.' And quick enough, Katsuki was opening the door, and let Izuku enter in his house.
As expected of an enigma, Katsuki was tall, easily 2 meters, and from his 162 cm, Izuku couldn't help but feel a little intimidated, smelling the enigma's burning wood scent everywhere in the house, the scent was so intoxicating he felt lightheaded, and not even 5 minutes after entering the house, he fell to his knee. In a matter of seconds, Katsuki was beside him, Izuku tried to apologize, but the enigma stopped him, reassuring him that everyone was like that at the start, and that Izuku would quickly get used to it.
Katsuki helped Izuku on the couch by carrying him bridal style there. Izuku was flustered and thanked the enigma. In reality, Izuku was not embarassed by the fact that he fell, but more by the fact that his omega was preening that the enigma was strong and he smelled great.
On the other side, Katsuki could smell the omega's scent when he carried him, and his enigma loved it, wanting to smell it more, Katsuki tuned it out, not wanting to scare the omega away.
After a few minutes of discussion, Katsuki managed to make the omega laugh, and oh he loved it. The omega had such a sweet laugh, the enigma almost purred at the omega.
He looked at the omega's outfit. tight jeans, and a simple t-shirt. The omega had soft curves, and Katsuki had to reboot when the omega asked him a question. He was so lost counting the freckles on Izuku's face.
They talked a little about Katsuki's job as a hero, Kenji, and Izuku's life.
Izuku was eager to start working for the hero, even then Katsuki told him.
'He's a little firecracker, I can't always be here with him, and he fight sometimes with his classmates.' The hero sighed.
'Oh don't worry, my nephew is like that too, maybe Kenji is an alpha, that would explain the behavior.' Izuku smiled sweetly at the hero.
'Yeah maybe... Katsuki paused. Anyway I need someone he and I can count on. So if you're okay with it, when I have an overnight mission, I'd like to you stay with him.' Katsuki declared. He knew the omega could say no, it would be understandable to not be okay with sleeping in a stranger's home. But against everything, Izuku accepted, only asking to be paid for the extra hours.
'Oh by the way, where's Kenji ? I would like to meet him before working please.' The omega questioned with puppy eyes.
'Well' Katsuki looked away, 'Kenji is at a friend's house right now, but he'll be back soon, so if you have time, we can wait for him together.' The enigma watched as the omega's eyes lit up at these last words, and he didn't even have time to continued speaking before the omega bombared him with tons of questions about heroes.
They spent hours talking like that, it was mostly Izuku questioning Katsuki about his experiences as a hero and his adolescence at U.A. and Katsuki answering and cracking jokes from time to time to make the omega smiled. He really appreciated the omega.
At some time, Katsuki heard the door click, and soon enough, a little Kenji entered, got his shoes off his feet and stopped when he smelled a new scent, he ran to the living room to see his dad and Izuku, an omega from what he could tell with the scent.
'Kenji, this is Izuku MIdoriya, your babysitter.' Katsuki annouced. Kenji made a face, a babysitter ? He didn't need that. He looked Izuku offering him his hand while saying hi with the fresh scent of a forest.
Kenji, flustered by the scent, took Izuku's hand. Whatever, it was just him being polite.
Izuku asked Kenji about his life, how was school, if he had friends, and Kenji smiled at the attention the omega gave him.
Katsuki loved seeing his son being talkative, and he remarqued quickly how close they became in just a few minutes.
He decided that yes, Izuku Midoriya was the perfect omega to babysit his son, and he might actually like this one.
