Chapter Text
Naruto couldn't stop the tears that formed in his eyes at he stared at his friend. A haze of red covering his vision, the chakra of the Nine-Tails flowing all around him creating the outline of a miniature kyubi. One red tail swaying behind him as if affected by the wind. The sound of rushing water and a thousand birds chirping filled his ears. He looked at the person in front of him.
Sasuke, his closest friend, his rival had almost killed him. The new scar on his chest being a painful reminder that would stay with him for the rest of his life.
His best friend wanted to kill him.
The thought still hadn't fully registered as he stared at his friend. Perhaps it was just a horrible horrible nightmare that he would wake up from. Back to a world where his friend wasn't going to be used and killed by the snake Sannin.
Naruto shook himself out of his thoughts. Getting distracted and caught off guard was a prime way to find an early grave. Kakashi had taught him that, he had taught all of team 7 that. He held out out his right hand to prepare for the inevitable clash of jutsu. A dull buzz began as an uncountable number of purple spirals started to form. A sphere starting to take shape and grow as chakra span rapidly forming the Fourth Hokage's jutsu. It was his most powerful technique and Naruto was sure if he had used anything less he wouldn't survive. He looked at Sasuke, trying to get a read on him. Desperately hoping for some kind of hint of remorse or regret.
Anything.
Yet his face was perfectly blank. A level of apathy that Naruto hadn't ever seen on the avenger before. The power of the curse mark in full effect. Two webbed hands had sprouted out of his back. His left fist covered in silver lightning. Naruto grit his teeth and prepared for the inevitable.
The last Uchiha lunged at the Uzumaki. And under the threat of a lighting covered fist Naruto did the same.
"CHIDORI!"
"RASENGAN!"
The two attacks collided. A battle wills ensued as chakra and lightning flew everywhere. Pieces of rock flew in all different directions. Ever so slowly a black sphere started to come into existence as it slowly grew until it destroyed the waterfall and the statues below it. An explosion ensued that would no doubt be felt for miles and the world faded to black.
The last thing Naruto Uzumaki saw however was a tear of blood and a strange pinwheel pattern.
