Chapter Text
“I thought you were going to sleep.”
I kept my eyes glued onto Jean’s arm that continued to flex each time he raised the weight in his hand, his fingers clenching around the handle. I rolled my bottom lip in between my teeth, the corner of my mouth tilting into a small smile.
“I’m just enjoying the view.” I replied, my eyes dropping to the noticeable veins that were trailing up his arm.
Jean laughed in response, placing the weight down on the floor before grabbing the phone. He held it up above his head, tilting the camera down so I could continue to check him out. “Take a picture. It lasts longer.” He grinned, my heart fluttering as he held up his middle finger at the camera.
I immediately took the opportunity to screenshot as he laughed, taking a seat down on the edge of his bed. “My new lock-screen.” I muttered to myself as I began to make the photo my new background, a noticeable smile on my face.
“What about me? I want a new lock-screen too.” He commented, tilting his head slightly as his lips pulled into a questioning grin.
I held back a laugh as I sat up from my position on my stomach, leaning my back against the wall. I pointed the camera down to my body, my fingers slowly pulling up my shirt that was beginning to expose my skin. Jean’s eyes glued onto the screen, following the movement of my shirt as I raised it to the wire of my bra.
Before he could take the opportunity to screenshot the view, I dropped my shirt back down. He groaned, running a hand down his face as I smiled at him. “I’m going to sleep now.” I said as Jean sighed.
“You like playing with me, huh?” He asked as I nodded happily. “You’re so mean.”
Even though he claimed me as ‘mean’, I did like playing with him. His reactions were priceless, which only made me continue to fuck with him. I loved seeing the sparkle in his eyes whenever he was excited before watching them replace with a look of pure disappointment. I didn’t know if that made me a bitch, but it was still fun nonetheless, and I wasn’t going to stop toying with him.
“You love me though.” I said, smiling innocently at the camera.
Jean pressed his lips into a line, beginning to shake his head. “Nope.” He replied.
My jaw dropped open as I stared at Jean with wide eyes. “Apologize.”
“You first.” He replied as the grin pulled at his lips. I shook my head and laid back down on my stomach, holding the phone in front of me. “You always do this to me. I’m going to cry myself to sleep tonight.” He continued as I chuckled.
“You’ll live.” I said, rolling my eyes. “Seriously though, I need to go to bed. First day of college tomorrow, remember?”
Jean smiled, laying down as his head rested on the pillows behind him. “What do you want me to do? Read you a bed-time story?” He teased as I shrugged, hiding the smile on my lips.
“I mean, you’re the one who said it.” I replied as he rolled his eyes playfully.
“Fine. Just don’t get side-tracked by the sound of my sexy voice.” Jean smirked as I shook my head slightly, chuckling.
“Get over yourself.”

I stood on campus, watching people walk around in groups as I stood by myself. I felt the anxiety rise in my body as I pulled out my phone from my pocket, messaging Jean. I usually wasn’t bad with big crowds, but when I didn’t know anyone or even know my way around, I couldn’t help but be nervous, especially seeing how big the campus was and how many people roamed it.
Me: 8:47am.
I’m dying right now.
Jean: 8:47am.
What happened to you being a ‘big girl’?
Me: 8:48am.
Out the window. I’m shitting myself right now.
Jean: 8:48am.
Hold up. I’ll text Sasha to find you.
Sasha was one of Jean’s friends from high school. After he graduated, he moved away from his friends for his scholarship that required him to move out of town. Jean spoke of Sasha many times, and from what I gathered, she seemed like a nice person. He explained to me that she was attending the same college that I was and from that moment, he had everything sorted for me apparently, even though I hadn’t met Sasha at all.
Me: 8:49am.
No! I’m not ready yet!
Jean: 8:49am.
Oh, shut it. You’ll like her.
Suddenly, out of nowhere, I felt someone tap my shoulder. I spun around, staring at the brunette who had a big smile on her face. “Oh, you’re definitely Jean’s girl.” She said, grabbing my hand. “Come on. Follow me.”
I held back a nervous laugh as she began dragging me behind her towards the building. “Please tell me you’re Sasha and not some random woman pulling me around.” I said, watching as she glanced over her shoulder, that same smile still plastered on her face.
“What if I was some random woman?” She asked as my eyes widened slightly. She laughed, waving me off. “Don’t worry. I’m Sasha.” She added as I breathed out a quiet sigh of relief.
“You’re definitely everything Jean told me, and I’ve only just met you.” I muttered, hoping that she didn’t catch onto my words, but to my surprise, she dropped her hand from mine and spun around to face me.
“What did he say about me? He better not have said anything mean.” She said, furrowing her eyebrows slightly.
I chuckled, waving her off. “No, no. Nothing like that. He just said that you were very, uh, energetic and hyper.” I explained as she chuckled. “And maybe a little crazy.” I added as she laughed harder.
“If you think I’m crazy, wait till you meet the group.” Sasha said, grabbing my hand again.

“Everyone, meet Y/N.” Sasha said proudly as she threw an arm around my shoulders.
After Sasha dragged me around campus, showing me the important areas that I needed to memorize, I was now in the library. A group of people sat in front of me, some with books in their hands while others looked at their phones.
I noticed a guy jump up first, holding his hand towards Sasha for a high-five. “Wow. You scored a hottie.” He said, waiting for Sasha to clap her hand against his.
“Connie, she has a boyfriend.” Sasha said, shoving his hand away from her. Connie glanced over at me before breathing out a quiet sigh, running a hand down his face. I smiled awkwardly as he took his spot back on the chair. “Don’t mind him. He’s always thinking with his dick.” Sasha said to me as Connie’s eyes widened in surprise. “Don’t act like it’s not true.” Sasha said, narrowing her eyes at Connie.
“Okay, whatever. Sue me.” He said, rolling his eyes.
Sasha pointed at the blonde on the beanbag, his earphones in his ears as his eyes scanned the book in front of him. “That’s Armin. He’s shy around new people, but he’s a sweetheart.” She explained before pointing at the woman beside Armin. “That’s Mikasa. She doesn’t say much, but she’s not as mean as she looks, I swear.” Sasha continued as Mikasa glanced up from her phone.
“I can hear you.” Mikasa muttered as Sasha smiled at her. “Hey.” She said, giving me a head-nod.
“This is Marco. He’s pretty much like Armin.” Sasha said as Marco’s cheeks grew a shade of red from the attention. “That’s Historia. Very bold with her words, but that’s only because she deals with Ymir.” She continued, pointing at the brunette next to Historia. “She has an attitude problem. So, whatever she says, don’t take it to heart.” Sasha said as Ymir flipped her off.
“Bite me.” She muttered, looking back down at her phone.
Sasha’s eyes trailed over to a brunette who had just sat down next to Armin. “That’s Eren.” She said, leaning closer to my ear. “He’s a little damaged, but he’s my favourite.” She added as I stared at Eren who had earphones in his ears like Armin. “Just a little tip: don’t get on his bad side. He has a temper.” Sasha continued as I nodded slowly. “Where’s everyone else?” Sasha asked as my eyes widened in surprise.
“There’s more?” I asked as Sasha chuckled.
“Annie, Reiner, and Bertholdt.” She replied.
Connie stood up from his chair, a small smile on his lips. “You just reminded me that I’ve got to go and see them.” Connie said as Sasha quickly grabbed his arm.
“Where are they?” Sasha asked, earning a laugh from Ymir.
“Where else would they be? They’re probably smoking down on the field.” Ymir spoke up as Connie groaned.
Sasha glanced back at Connie, narrowing her eyes at him. “If you get caught, I’ll rip your tongue out from your mouth.” Sasha warned as Connie waved her off, releasing himself from her grip.
“I’ll be fine.” He said before heading towards the exit of the library.
Sasha sighed, her eyes meeting mine. “Anyway, I want to know what dorm you’ll be staying in. Come on.” She said before grabbing my hand, pulling me towards the same exit that Connie had walked out from.

“Mikasa usually isn’t here much, but when she is, she’s not here for too long. She’s usually hanging out with Armin or Eren most of the time.” Sasha explained as I nodded slowly. “But don’t worry, she’s not as bad as she looks. Yeah, she may look like she’d kill you in your sleep, but that’s just her face.” She continued.
Oh, great. I’m not scared at all.
“You two will get along good though. I can feel it.” Sasha smiled as I nodded again, trying to relax my nerves. She began walking towards the door, but before she left, she glanced over her shoulder to look back at me. “Oh, and Jean gave me your number so I’ll text you later so you can save it in your phone. If you ever get lost, just message me. I’ll let you settle in.” Sasha added as I gave her a small smile.
“Thanks, Sasha.” I said, watching as she left the room.
When I was finally alone, I breathed out a sigh and fell onto the bed. I knew I’d be sharing a room with someone, but out of all the people on campus, I didn’t think it would be someone in the same friend group as Sasha. I was a little thankful though when I found out it was Mikasa, but when Sasha told me that she never stayed in the room as much, I knew I’d feel lonely at times.
I felt my phone vibrate in my pocket as I stared at the ceiling, recollecting my thoughts. I pulled out my phone, staring at the notification.
Jean: 1:20pm.
So, give me an update.
Me: 1:20pm.
Everyone seems nice, I guess.
Jean: 1:21pm.
What do you mean? You make it sound like you hate everyone already.
Me: 1:21pm.
It’s just that the group’s a little big, that’s all. I’m going to have to remember a lot of names.
Jean: 1:22pm.
Well, at least you’re not stuck with just Sasha. She’ll make you want to rip your ears off sometimes.
I laughed at the message. Sasha was a talker, but it was nice to have someone like her by my side. Sure, I already knew that her energy would be a little too much for me when I’m not feeling the best some days, but either way, having her by my side today relaxed my nerves.
Me: 1:23pm
I’ll be sure to tell her you said that.
Jean: 1:23pm.
I dare you. Watch what’ll happen.
Me: 1:23pm.
I’m tempted now.
Jean: 1:24pm.
If you want to dig my grave, sure. Anyway, I’m going to the gym. I’ll call you later.
Me: 1:24pm.
If anyone flirts with you, I’ll have my shovel ready.
Jean: 1:25pm.
Same goes for you. I love you.
Me: 1:25pm.
I love you too.
I sighed, dropping my phone from my hand as I closed my eyes. My classes didn’t start until tomorrow, so maybe it was a good idea for me to have a nap before moving all my clothes into the cupboard. I climbed underneath the blankets, letting sleep take over.
+++
“Shh, you’re too loud.”
“Says the one who’s moaning.”
I slowly opened my eyes, hearing the voices beside me in the other bed. I looked to the side, seeing the blanket that was covering the two people move slightly. I kept my mouth shut, closing my eyes again as I realised how dark it was. But even though I wanted to go back to sleep, the thought of Mikasa bringing a guy back to the dorm annoyed me a little.
I opened my eyes again, deciding whether I should speak up and say something to Mikasa, but before the words could leave my mouth, I found myself staring at a familiar blonde who was in bed with my roommate.
“Oh, shit.” Armin gasped as Mikasa reached over to turn the lamp on.
“I did tell you to shut up.” Mikasa sighed, her eyes slipping shut as Armin climbed off the bed. I kept my mouth closed, staring at Armin who was thankfully wearing pants even though the two of them were clearly about to have sex in the bed beside me. He crouched down, grabbing his shirt from the floor while Mikasa sat up, leaning her back against the headboard.
Armin’s eyes met mine, his cheeks flustered from the fact that I had just caught him and Mikasa. “I’m so sorry.” He said quickly after throwing his shirt over his body. Before I could ease his worries, he left the room without another word.
I stared at Mikasa who had her eyes closed, probably trying to process what had just happened. I found my mind circling with thoughts as I gulped, the curiosity burning inside of me.
“So…” I trailed off, trying to break the awkward silence. “…Are you two together?”
Mikasa shook her head, her eyes still closed. I nodded slowly, leaving me to believe that the two of them were just friends with benefits. I didn’t expect Armin out of all people to be the one with Mikasa, but then again, I hadn’t even been here for a full day yet and everyone were still strangers to me.
“Hey,” Mikasa called, her voice breaking the silence in the room. “Uh, please don’t say anything about Armin and I.” She said softly, her eyes meeting mine.
I rubbed my tired eyes, nodding. “Of course.” I replied, getting comfortable once again as my eyes closed.
