Work Text:
“Pearllllll please! I promise I won't get in the way of your couple stuff!!” Steven was begging on his knees at this point, puppy dog eyes and everything. If Pearl didn't say yes soon he was going to resort to guilt tripping.
“I just don't know Steven... I mean I've told her about you, and she doesn't seem to be deterred by my being a parent or anything... It's just that it's a bit early in our relationship to introduce you both.” Pearl said. She looked over to Garnet for a second opinion.
“I think it's a good idea. Steven will have fun, and I don't think Sabina will mind.” Garnet agreed. Pearl sighed and went to go look for her phone to ask Sabina about it. “(Thank you so much Garnet!)” Steven whispered excitedly. “(No problem.)” Garnet whispered back with a smile on her face.
“Alright she said it was fine, Steven go start the car I need to get ready.” Pearl told him. “Can we go on Lion?” He asked. Pearl looked at him for a few seconds, sighed, and then agreed to it. “Woohoo!!! Me and Lion are gonna meet Pearl's girlfriend!! Hey pearl can I bring Con-”
“No.”

*Knock knock*
Sabina opened her apartment door to see a nervous Pearl and plus one. And a Lion. “Woahh you didn't tell me that you guys had a Lion.” She said.
Sabina didn't really believe it at first when Pearl told her she was an alien who saved her race from annihilation, but this past month and a half had her stop asking questions and just believing all the wacky things Pearl tells her.
“Oh, right. He's just a faster ride than the car, so we took him instead.” Pearl said. “Cool, maybe I should try riding by Lion sometime.” As she said this, Lion yawned and teleported away. “Awe nevermind.”
Sabina shifted her gaze to the small excited teenager standing beside Pearl. “Hey little dude, it's Steven right? Come in you guys.” She invited them in, Steven ran inside and looked around her living room. “Wowwww, your place is super nice!” He exclaimed.
Sabina laughed and thanked him. It wasn't suuuper nice as he puts it, but it's still pretty alright for a cheap apartment. “So what do you wanna do little man?” Sabina asked. “Hmm... Do you have any spare paper?” Steven asked back.
Pearl watched Steven as Sabina draw together on the backs of old envelopes. It was relaxing for her to be with Sabina, she's constantly stressed with her gem work and the looming threat of the diamonds, and just emotions overall. So it was nice to have somebody to just hang around with.
“Yo Pearl, you should draw something too. Steven says you're totally awesome at it.” Sabina said as she handed out a spare envelope and a pencil. “Oh alright, but don't expect a masterpiece.” Pearl giggled.
A little later that day they played frisbee, then tried to see if they how tall the would be all stacked up on each other's shoulders, and then indulged in some friendly arm wrestling.
It was a little jarring to Sabina that was only a little bit stronger than such a little guy, and that somebody so reminiscent of a stick bug could hold up so well against her, but in the end she won both matches.
They played around a bit more until Steven started yawning. “Well, that was quite exciting but I believe it is time to get you to bed.” Pearl put her hands on Stevens shoulders and told him. “Yeah, where do you wanna sleep though? My bed is pretty comfy and I can sleep on the couch if you want it.” Sabina offered.
“Well, what if we all sleep together like a family!” Steven proposed. “Maann I dunno, I snore in my sleep sometimes. Don't wanna keep you up.” She said jokingly. “Nah I'm just kidding I'm cool with that.”
“Alright well you two can do that but no joking around and keeping each other up. Sleep is very important to you humans after all.” Pearl advised. “You don't want in on our super duper awesome sleepover?” Steven asked. “Yeah you're totally missing out Pearl, sleeping is the best.” Sabina tried to convince her.
“Oh fine, it beats sitting around doing nothing all night.” She agreed, resulting in Steven and Sabina's very loud and epic victory high five.

About an hour into the sleepover Sabina tapped him on the shoulder to wake him up. “...huh?” he said groggily. She pointed over at Pearl, who was projecting her dream from her gem. “Isn't she so cool? It might be a little weird but I love watching her dreams whenever I get the chance. They're like fun little movies.” She confessed.
In Pearls dream she was teaching pirates literature. She was definitely getting some things wrong about it, but that's okay. Steven looked up at Sabina, who was staring lovingly at the projection on the wall. Then he looked back at Pearl, who was sleeping on her stomach with half her limbs hanging off the bed.
“Yeah you're right, Pearl is pretty cool.” He said.
