Chapter Text
Pumping music makes the ground shake as if the brick and mortar are in sync with the vibrations of the club. Throngs of sweaty, half-naked people dance with little abandon. All of them are high. Ketamine, MDA, cocaine. You name it, and someone in the crowd has more of it flowing through their blood than electrolytes. Aside from the neon lights, this is not your usual haunt. Packed locations like these are devastating to a hunter. Besides the ignored fire hazard rules, monsters thrive in the chaos. Easier to lure horny, drugged-up fools.
Your girlfriend is an expert at it by now.
You're posted on the balcony overlooking the dance floor. You can see her, painted in vibrate reds, blues, and yellows. It's terrible tacky lighting, but your heart still thrums when you spot her. You've already seen who Juliette's target is. A woman at the bar hadn't left since she'd found her perch, and Juliette had already taken her first victim of the night. Jules didn't kill, just took enough to make them pass out and then safely escorted them to a taxi. Since she didn't drain her victims, it meant she needed at least two or three to sustain herself. This woman was about to be your girlfriend's second meal.
You and Juliette talked about it and what it would mean when Juliette went hunting. She was a creature that relied on charm and persuasion to abscond with her meal tickets. So you're incredibly unphased when you see how Juliette stalked up to her prey and, slid a hand on her victim's thigh, whispered in her ear. No, you're upset by the feeling it stirs in your chest.
Jealousy.
That's what it was. A roiling, tugging ache in your chest.
You and Juliette talked about the scene you're playing tonight. What you want. And you want it.
You find your courage at the bottom of the bottle and let it burn all the way down. Time for you, the hunter, to learn how Juliette turns you into prey.
