Sunoo hated the idea of being in a long distance relationship, considering the fact that he's a person that likes skinship or physical contact gives him more reasons to hate it, but that hatred towards that setup didn't last long, not until he met this one guy on the internet, Park Sunghoon.
Yes, he hates it and he doesn't really believe that relationships will not work out if they met through the internet and having so much distance between them but you can't really stop yourself from falling for someone, it just happens.
They would always send each other good morning or good night messages, long ass paragraphs expressing their love for each other, selfies, voice messages, and sometimes do video calls when they feel like it. They were simple but it doesn't fail to make both of them smile widely and giggle.
The start of their relationship was fine and they've been dating for months already but they haven't met which was obviously upsetting for the both of them. Their schedules didn't match and both had piled up paperwork to do. And because of that, both of them had no time to text each other, send short updates if they had lunch or what, things are not working for them and Sunoo's friends noticed that. Ni-ki and Heeseung always thought that ldr or internet love setup is dumb as well. Although they want Sunoo to be happy, they can't stand the fact that he's going through that ldr shit.
“Any reply?” Heeseung asked Sunoo, who has been staring at his phone for a few minutes now. “No, I just sent mine a few seconds ago, hyung. He might be busy” their schedules didn't match. Heeseung just scoffed at the younger boy's reply and Ni-ki shook his head. “Christmas break will start soon, i'll just have to wait for it” despite having so much work to do, Sunoo still had much more time unlike Sunghoon who's busier than how he already is. Of course Sunoo understands that. He just kept positive and patiently waited for Christmas break since he was sure that they'll have time for each other by then. Well, that's what he thought.
Even on their Christmas break, Sunghoon had short and dry replies saying that he's still busy, there were also times that he had no replies at all.. Sunoo's excitement was replaced with disappointment. His replies were the same even after Christmas, short and dry. Heeseung and Ni-ki were worried sick for Sunoo who had been so down even before and after their Christmas celebration, they weren't used to it.
“Sunoo hyung, what's wrong? Is something bothering you? Why are you so down these days?” Ni-ki asked, obviously worried and confused. “It's just.. Sunghoon's replies became more short and dry, it's confusing and frustrating.” he answered shortly. Instead of giving him an answer, Heeseung and Ni-ki decided to stay quiet and let him keep expressing his frustrations about it, they stayed by his side and listened.
They know something that Sunoo doesn't know about that's why.
More days have passed by, the three are already setting up something for New Year's Eve. They were at the rooftop since it was the only perfect place where they could fully see the pretty and colorful fireworks which Sunoo loved.
They played some mini games and ate while waiting for the clock to strike 12. It was fast since they were having fun, well too much fun to be exact, tummies were full and they were full of laughter.
“Sunoo, we'll go get something downstairs, stay here, okay?” Heeseung spoked as he opened the door “Okay! Be fast, hyung!” he exclaimed and the older hummed as a response. It was already 11:56. Sunoo was somehow anxious that the two might miss the fireworks “Hyung, Ni-ki, hurry up!!” He called for the two, not sure if they heard him but he did his best.
He checked the time, it was already 11:59 and he can hear everyone starting to count. He decided to start as well, quickly joining in with the crowd downstairs who were doing the countdown.
“8, 7, 6, 5” he can hear the door behind him open but decided to continue “4, 3, 2” he felt a figure behind him leaning onto his back and as he shouts 1, arms were wrapped around him and a guy whispers onto his ear “Happy New Year, my love.” His eyes opened widely, he slowly turned around and his heart was filled with pure happiness.
“Sunghoon!” He exclaimed and quickly threw himself onto his lover's embrace. Both were happy and smiling widely. “How? I mean, I‘m- I‘m happy but confused, how are you here? You were barely responding to my text messages” Sunoo backs out from the hug and shoots him a question. Sunghoon finds him adorable and giggles before giving him an answer. “Well, I know how upset you were because of that but I did it on purpose and I wasn‘t completely lying, I was really busy, busy preparing for this to day to exact” he pauses for a moment to fix Sunoo's hair and continues “I kind of asked for Heeseung hyung and Ni-ki's help as well, I asked them a favor to keep you distracted for a while.” he explained it shortly and quick, he also answered Sunoo's other questions. “God, you have so many tricks up your sleeve, I was worried!” he playfully smacks Sunghoon's chest which makes both of them laugh “Sorry for keeping you waiting, Sun. And also for making you upset” Although Sunoo was clearly upset about it, he was quick to forgive, knowing that Sunghoon made efforts just to see him.
As they spend the rest of the time together with the two, they smiles became more wider and the rooftop was filled with so much laughter. Even if they were only cleaning up the mess they made after celebrating, smiles were still plastered on their faces.
Inside their room, they were cuddling and giggling like a child. Both of them were indeed happy. “I'm glad that I get to spend another with you.” The younger spoked as Sunghoon caresses his head, smiling from the unexpected remarks. He responds with a tight hug and a kiss on the forehead, it was soft and sweet, just like how Sunoo wants it.
“I love you, Sunoo.”
