Chapter 1: Assigned Beginnings

Chapter Text

Shen, you bastard.

You were used to him sending you on spontaneous missions by now, but he didn't even bother to tell you where he was teleporting you to this time.

With a simple wave of his hand and a "You're needed there, you'll find out eventually.", you were blinked into the middle of a forest. To add insult to injury you had appeared in a bush of thorns, part of you suspecting that Shen had done so on purpose.

After a few minutes to meticulously remove yourself from them and more than a few curses, you could finally survey your surroundings.

A blanket of flat, colorful, leaves and nearly perfectly sculpted plantlife...

You must still be in Ionia.

Breathing a sigh of relief, you began to scale a tree for a better vantage point. Sure, it was nice to have time away from the temple, but you were in no mood for the rowdiness of Bilgewater or the bloodlust of Noxus.

It was in regions like those where you had more lethal assignments, but local ones usually meant a simple negotiation or a child in need of a mentor.

From the top of the tree you could clearly see a nearby village; it was small but pleasant, further reassuring you that your task wouldn't be dangerous in the slightest, if not a bit boring.

As you removed your hands from the trunk to scale back down, your eyes were drawn to the mark on your wrist.

"Huh," you said to nobody in particular, shrugging off the observation. "It's darker than I remember."
