Work Text:

A kiss.

That is the first thing that Jimin notices when he regains consciousness. A gentle whisper of “love you” soon follows the soft kiss to his forehead.

Love.

Jimin does not recognize the voice, but he felt loved. The other man continued to speak to him, fondness evident in his voice. If Jimin is to open his eyes now, he is sure to see a gentle face looking back at him.

Sadness.

Why does the other man sound so sad? He told Jimin stories of the past, stories of the present, and hope for the future.

The future of never.

Jimin does not like that.

Silence.

There is no more sound. The man had stopped talking. The silence is deafening. Jimin's world is ringing with the absence of sound.

Where did the man go? Did he leave? No, he cannot go! Jimin needs him here.

Larger, callous hands cradle his smaller ones. The feeling so familiar, Jimin is sure he would recognize it. But alas, he does not.

Wet. Jimin's hand is wet. A sob, growing louder by the minute. The sound of the other man crying hurts more than the previous silence.

Jimin wants to comfort the hurting man. He does not remember who that man is, but Jimin desperately needs to hug and return the kiss.

His body remains static. No matter how much Jimin struggled, he did not move an inch. He screamed, but no sound came out of his mouth. Jimin wants to cry, but no tears fall down his face.

Panic.

What is wrong with him? Why can't he move? Why can't he speak?

A kiss.

A kiss on his forehead. A kiss on his eyes. A kiss on his lips. A gentle whisper of "goodbye" soon follows the soft kiss to his hand.

Promise.

A whispered promise to follow Jimin, to meet again in a place where the future exist.
