Work Text:
School is finally over for the day, and I’m headed to Idia’s room as usual. His work thrives when he has my presence. My homework isn’t a huge pain when I have him to keep me company. The yelling through his mic while gaming is my favorite background noise now that I’m used to it. It’s always a little awkward walking through Ignihyde to get to him because of all the stares, but it’s worth it.
I’m almost to the mirror for his dorm when I’m stopped.
“MC, if I may have a moment of your time.” My friend Azul pulls me to the side.
“Sure, what’s up?” I smile at him.
“Please get Shroud to calm down.” He crosses his arms.
“Huh? Is something wrong with Idia?” My smile disappears.
“He’s talked about how he wants to marry you, the goddess, but he’s not worthy for six club meetings in a row now.” Azul sighs, pushing his glasses up.
“Oh. Would you like for me to join the meeting tonight? Ids is typically too nervous to say this type of thing to or in front of me.” Oh my God, that’s so cute. I love this man.
“Yes, thank you.” I get a smile. “This has the added benefit of a broader option in games we can play as well. I’ll see you soon.”
“Sounds good.” I return his smile and go back to headed in Ignihyde.
I’m so glad no one here is particularly a social butterfly. Ortho is the top of the list and I love his company. Not getting questions about my relationship literally everywhere is nice. This dorm is my main reprieve.
Muscle memory leads me to Idia’s door. I knock on the door too softly to freak him out but hard enough that he can hear me if he’s busy.
The door swings open and I’m greeted with a smile after he confirms it’s just me. I enter the room and wait for the door to close behind me before turning around to show affection. I throw my arms around his neck and beam at him.
“Hey, Ids!” I lean in to press a kiss to his cheek while he wraps his arms around my waist, blushing and hesitant even after being together for over a year.
“Hey, MC. How was class?” Idia pulls back to head to his bed, taking a seat.
I place my bag on the floor and sit with him. “It was alright. Nothing went seriously wrong! Oh, I did bump into Azul on my way over.”
“What’d you talk about?” He tilts his head.
“He asked me to come to board game club. I haven’t gone in a while, and he seems to want to play something that needs more players.” I lean into him. “Is that alright with you?”
“Yeah. I like playing with you.” He smiles softly at me.
“Awesome. Can I wear one of your jackets? I offer cuddles as a trade.” I wink at him.
His face heats up. “Y-yeah. Go ahead.”
We arrive ten minutes early to find Azul already there. He’s looking through the stock of games, I assume to pull out a few options.
“Azul, how long have you been here?” I ask.
“Oh, MC, Idia. Good to see you.” He sets a few games on the table.
“That does not answer my question.” I prod.
“So, I was thinking we could do something relatively low-key. We can play as well as talk.” Azul smirks at me.
(눈_눈) I take a seat at the table, looking over the games in front of me.
“Was there something you wanted to play more?” Idia follows me to the table.
Azul rests across from us. “I’ve wanted to play “The Magical Life Game” with MC for a while now.”
“I’d be fine with that. MC?” Idia looks to me.
“Yeah, that’s alright with me.” I open the box to set up while the boys clear the losers away.
First turn in the game. Azul and I go the education route while Idia heads right into the workforce. He drew video game designer as his career. How fitting.
Second turn I get hit with a debt collection while Azul is rewarded for his good grades. I groan.
“Everything alright, MC?” Azul smiles at me.
“Yeah. I’ll be great after I get out of college.” I sigh, seeing Idia glance at me.
Third turn we both graduate. Azul drew businessman as his career, while I got dancer. I scowl. Idia reaches the marriage tile and avoids my gaze, the ends of his hair turning pink.
“Hm, I must admit I’m curious. Hey, MC.” Azul addresses me.
“Yes?” I look up from the board to Azul.
“Have you thought much on what you want in the future? I assume you don’t wish to be a dancer.” He laughs. Idia’s eyes go wide.
“Ha ha. No, I don’t dance for people. But yes, I’ve thought about my future. A lot, actually.” I raise an eyebrow at him. “Why? Is there anything you’re wondering about?”
He smirks at me, smug. “Have you thought about settling down here? Getting married and having a family?” Idia goes rigid at my side.
“Yes, I have. I’ve decided I’m staying here even if Crowley finds a way back. This world feels like home now. I don’t think of the future anymore without having Idia and Ortho with me. I’d be lost without them. I’d love to get married and start a family one day.” I watch Idia out of the corner of my eye. He’s making aggressive eye-contact with the board and fidgeting his hands, eyes wider than I’ve ever seen them. The pink has spread further up into his hair and he lets out a nervous laugh.
“You broke him.” Azul looks to Idia in surprise of just how hard he’s malfunctioning.
“Satisfied, Azul? I wanted to wait for Idia to ask himself.” I sigh, now moving my own game piece to the marriage tile.
“Well, now he doesn’t have to. He just got your thoughts on the matter. That you’d marry him and have his babies.” Idia passes out, head bouncing against the table. “Oof, that’ll leave a mark.”
“Please, no more bullying my boyfriend. I hope the gamble was worth it for you. He’ll either be too flustered to bring it up again after this or it’ll be twice as much as it was before.” I rub Idia’s back and press a kiss to the side of his head. “Want to play cards or something while we wait for him to come to?”
