Ring, Ring, Hey it’s Stel…
Kelly ended the call with a sign and scrubbed a hand down his tired face.
“Still no answer?”
“No man, It’s been weeks and not even a text message. So much for being in a loving, committed relationship huh?” At this point he didn’t know if he was more frustrated or worried.
“I’m sure she will call soon”
Oh Casey, ever optimistic Casey. Kelly knows he won't hear from her until she is ready to come back and that’s the most frustrating thing, he knows she might not ever be ready and doesn’t that just suck.
“Maybe” he wouldn’t hold his breath
“Severide, there’s someone here to see you.”
“Who is it?” With a shrug of his shoulders Capp just turns and walks back out the room.
“Catch you later Case” with another deep sigh he walked out of the common room out onto the apron where a blond haired woman is standing with her back to him.
“Can I help you?”
“Hey Kelly, remember me?”
Yeah Kelly remembers her, vaguely, kind of.
“Laura, right? What can I do for you?”
With a roll of her eyes she turned round and picked something up off the floor and placed it in front of him.
“This is a baby?” He’s really fucking lost at this point so just looks up at her and thinks maybe he should have realised what this meant.
“You think?… Yes Kelly it’s a baby… it’s your baby. I can’t do this anymore. It was never in my plans to have a baby and I’ve tried, I have but I just can’t do it. So now it’s your turn…” she mumbled through an explanation.
Kelly wonders if he fell and hit his head on the way out of the common room and is now laying on the cold app floor with a concussion.
“Her name is Sophia. Her birth certificate and the papers to sign over my parental rights you will need for your lawyer are in the bag. I’m sorry… I just can’t”.
He watches her walk away but he can’t move, he can barely even breath, he looks down at the pink bundle with huge blue eyes staring at him from her car seat.
He doesn’t know how long it is later when he feels a hand come down on his shoulder and he realizes it’s Matt and that Sophia is crying.
How long did he check out for?
He bends down and unclips her from the car seat and brings her close to his chest.
“What’s going on Sev?“
Matt is staring at him and Sophia with wide eyes
“Fuck if I know”
