Fate and destiny be damned, he would defy it all just to preserve this, to make sure she stays happy, to be able to stay by her side. This precious light that he would never take for granted. "Be careful."
His voice was tender, reaching out to cup her cheek and rub it with the pad of his thumb. She leaned into his touch, eyes closing and the peaceful expression she shared with him made him smile.
The quiet nod was reply enough before she moved, his eyes lifted to look over the horizon. As the sun peeked over two mountains, he crossed his arms and sighed. It was nice to see the new day with her. Just the two of them, quietly enjoying the natural beauty of this world.
This was nice.
"Xiao." He turned when she called his name, and he saw her with a bundle of Qingxin flowers up to her face. The soft expression on her face was illuminated by the soft glow of the morning sun.
The almost dreamy way she smiled as she held the soft ivory flowers to her lips. In her white dress that flowed with the wind while her blonde locks danced.
she looked angelic.
"Xiao?" She called out to him again as she walked towards him. "Are you sleepy?" A curious expression appeared on her face before the lips that lingered against the petals of the flowers curved into a sweet smile. "I never did thank you for indulging my whims."
Blinking slowly as he came back to himself, he just shook his head."It's not something so difficult that it would warrant--." Silenced when he felt something warm press against his cheek.
It was her lips. Since when did she walk to him and easily sneak up on him? His body was frozen and he couldn't think or move. No, he didn't want to. For that would disturb this precious gift that was given to him. Blinking slowly, when she pulled away, the angelic smile, to the way she glowed from the morning sun, everything about this moment, he wanted to remember forever.
"And if that wasn't enough...These are for you." Her voice was gentle as she lifted his hand put the little bundle of flowers in his hands. The way she gently tucked a piece of her hair behind her ear, and warmly gazed at him. She was breathtaking even when she made the smallest movements. He could watch her all day and never grow tired nor bored.
"I thought it was women who received flowers during one's courtship." He whispered as he brought the delicate flowers up to his face and inhaled the sweet scent. His eyes gazed over the petals as he felt it lightly press against his lips. Like it did with hers, the ghost of her kiss lingering against the soft petals. His fingers lightly touched the almost translucent petals before he plucked one of the flowers out. Reaching out, he tucked it behind her ear, lightly letting the tips of his fingers graze against her cheek.
"Let's look for some more together." Xiao said softly to her and shared a gentle smile with her. A smile reserved just for her.
