Chapter Text
Somehow, when you live in a world filled with different types of people, you’d learn to adapt. In this world, it's not enough if you were born as a man or a woman, as that was not the only gender present in the world. This world consists of 3 more genders: alpha, beta and omega. Everyone literally knows alphas are at the top of the food chain, considered as superior than everyone else and all that jazz. Betas are the normies, the ones that are more normal than people themselves, literally the boring ones, but not all of them. And there’s the omegas.
Omegas, whether a man or woman, is capable of childbirth when an alpha becomes one with them. Literally knotting with them. But it kinda only happens when the said omega is in heat. Which is why omegas drink suppresants when experiencing heat as that could help alleviate their sexual desires and mate with other alphas.
Eh, anyway enough of that.
In this world though, no one but yourself knows your gender. Here in Veludo, the omegas that go into heat, or feel they’re going into heat, would hide their vulnerable selves in fear of getting marked by an alpha passing by. Or you know, preventing unwanted pregnancy. Either way, omegas keep it to themselves. But sometimes, things wouldn’t always go the way you want them to happen.
Today is just another normal day for people residing in the Mankai dorms. Just another day of doing the usual stuff of bonding and just living their best lives. Surprisingly, everyone was there, and it wasn’t really a weekend or something. They were just there.
Sakyo was just there too, surprisingly. Although what’s really surprising is he wasn’t working that time. He was actually reading something – the shoujo manga club is to blame – and he hated the stuff he was reading had his full attention. Sometimes he could find himself muttering side comments, about how stupid the stuff he was reading, how stupid the characters are and how stupid of himself to be way too invested in this thing. He’d already sacrificed the meal he had earlier, iit was so damn good though, but he kinda left on a cliffhanger so he just wanted to get done with eating at the soonest possible time.
When he turned the page, something felt wrong. The room was just at the right temperature, yet somehow it felt like he was in the pits of hell. He normally didn’t sweat with all the layers he wore – plus it was in a black color too so it was really hot – but today was different. He wasn’t even wearing his normal clothing! Just in that simple (tight) shirt and (tight) pants. It wasn’t even that hot today.
Oh shit.
It’s not even supposed to be that time yet, why has it come early?!
He scrambled to open up the calendar from his phone and counted the days. Yeah, the heat cycle has become irregular again. Sakyo felt that the effort he took to make his heat cycle regular was put into vain (and a waste of money). There was no time to waste, he'd already fumbled for the suppressants in one of the drawers, but saw that the bottle wasn't there. His brain can't even comprehend the thoughts of where he last placed the medicine canister, all his brain wants now is to stop the heat no matter what happens. He can't even afford to come out, fearing that someone might smell the pheromones he'd be releasing and they, whoever the alphas are, might be obligated to stop his heat.
The room was being slowly filled with his pheromones. Thank god no one else stayed in the room or else it would've been suffocating due to the amount he was releasing. Although, he can't be sure if the scent would seep through the cracks in the doorway.
Shit.
Of course the scent would seep through! He just hoped no one would pass by outside, he couldn't even move to lock the door.
Stupid. So stupid.
A knock soon knocked a bit of sense towards Sakyo. Oh, his hopes were just… hopeless. He wasn't an overthinker, but today, with little sense he had, somehow the thoughts began to pour in. He thought maybe it was time to eat something or someone brought food and they were just going to invite him to eat. Or that someone needed a favor from him. Or Sakoda was just going to annoy the hell out of him again.
But he knew that yellow haired boy never knocks. He barges in whenever its convenient, with a loud "Aniki!" that can seem to be heard a mile away.
"Um, Sakyo-san?"
Fuck! Why did the stupid knocking come from Fushimi!
He tried to sound as normal as possible. "I'm busy and I don't want to be disturbed!"
"Ah but," he sounded as if he was unsure how to word what he wanted to say, "actually, uh, well if you could-"
"Just…spit it out!"
"It's laundry day and I need whatever dirty clothes you have!" God, there wasn't no reason to be scared, so why did he have to say it as quick as he can? "Ah, but i-if there's no dirty laundry I can just go-"
"I'll take it out later!"
Omi suddenly took note of the strain in Sakyo's voice. It sounded forced, breathless which masked the fact that there was something wrong. There was something in the air, it felt heavy and smelled… like milk? Milk tea? Wait no, it smelled like milk tea, but he knew it wasn't milk tea. But it was something with milk. This smell triggered something in his brain as it all felt too familiar, but mostly it was due to that smell emitting from an omega.
Omi's brain sent signals for his hand to twist the doorknob open. He fought the urge to do it, clutching the door knob with force it made his knuckles turn white. The smell was just so good, but it was pressuring him to do stuff that wasn't rational. He'd already started to murmur thousands of apologies under his breath, in fear that this omega would scorn him for life. Soon after trying to clear his head, he stubbornly opened the door and the pheromones washed out from the room.
Sakyo was cowering under the covers, as if he was mimicking a person shivering from cold. He didn't care if the layering made him more sweaty than he was because of the heat, but if it looks effective to keep the alphas out, it's fine. He can wash off the sweat, sure, but not the alpha scent.
He felt a finger tap his shoulder. As reflex, he wrapped himself deeper into the sheets like a burrito. There's no way he's coming out, not now, not ever. Especially when he can feel a dominating aura around him. Nope. Never.
Sakyo was tempted to peek out when he heard muttering. With little sense he had, he can only make out a couple of words which definitely consisted of regrets and alpha instincts.
Fuming, he unknowingly flipped the covers off and spat, "Would you just shut up already?!"
Regrets were really made that day.
That was really stupid.
Sakyo felt his back hit the wall. It hurt a bit, but if he was in a normal state, it would really be painful. Omi had already pinned him to the wall, rationality being absent. If anything, it was the instincts kicking in, and it was all due to the pheromones in the room. But being the saner one in the two, Sakyo tried to suppress the other as best as he can.
"Don't even think about doing anything."
No response. Omi's gaze felt like it bore a hole through Sakyo's hard exterior. God, he kinda felt he was an open book for a sec, and that his subconscious can be read as well. It was literally screaming for help!
"If you value your life, you wouldn't dare-"
"Isn't it hard for you to deal with this…thing?" He spoke slowly, controlling the urge to pounce on the other. Omi took a deep breath before his head drooped, forehead landing on the other's collarbone. Each second that passed in this room was akin to torture. It was just overwhelming to be in the same room as an omega – an omega in heat.
Sakyo was taking in ragged breaths, his system starting to calm down. Unknowingly, the alpha in front of him – basically stuck to him now like glue – released his own pheromones. He couldn't describe the smell, it was like it came from a diffuser as it somehow resembled like a homely scent. The smell soon started making him drowsy, but he couldn't put himself to sleep like this. Though he was confident nothing would ever happen, there's still an alpha in front of him that COULD take advantage of the situation.
"Stop it, it's making me sleepy."
"Stop what?"
"You and your pheromones."
He sat up, even almost bumping his head on Sakyo's chin. "I wasn't releasing pheromones…?"
Sakyo held back with his supposed outburst; he didn't want to waste his remaining energy and just spoke as calmly as possible, "You were. How the hell do you explain smelling like cinnamon and just…smelling like the dorm itself?"
"Uh," he sounded unsure, scratching his temple, "I don't know, I only smelled yours. Shouldn't you smell like your favorite drink?"
"Get off."
"Huh?"
"I said get off." He pushed the other away in the weakest state possible.
"There's no way I'm doing that." Omi caged the omega in his grasp, carefully supporting him and with a gentle hold. "You implied it yourself, Sakyo-san. The pheromones I released calmed you down. You're still in heat, you know."
"What do you think we're supposed to do huh, mate like wild animals?"
Well, that was highly suggestive.
"Why, do you want to?" It sounded really serious. A sigh echoed throughout the room. "Look, whatever happens in this room, stays in this room."
Sakyo's brows furrowed, he's frustrated he can't see how the other looks despite the statements being serious. Who knows, maybe it was just a joke that sounded serious.
"I'm serious."
He flinched upon hearing the other speak, now unconsciously rubbing Sakyo' s back. Did he look like someone who's an open book? How could he have an answer towards his thoughts?
"F-Fine." He gave up. The suppressants are nowhere to be found anyway. What harm could possibly happen? It's not like he's going to be carrying a child soon. "Just- I need assurance that you will just relieve me of my heat right now and nothing else follows."
"I did say that whatever happens here, stays in here."
"Mm."
"So," the serious aura dissipated and was now replaced by nervousness, "can I kiss you now?"
