Work Text:
Izuru stood at the rooftop of his new apartment building, watching the sun set over the horizon.
"... It's really different."
He couldn't help but say it out loud.
The scenery that he was used to... Was a sea, a blue horizon that melted into the sky, and the jagged outlines of the mountains around the small town.
The outlines were more flat and even now, like a wall that caged him in. Standing on the rooftops let him see past that concrete barrier and see more of the foggy mountain outlines beyond for a little bit...
The sun hadn't finished setting, but the strong winds that blew brought dark clouds that made it feel later than it really was.
A drop of water fell on his arm.
"Hmm?"
One drop, two drops, and then it was like someone turned the clouds over, with the rain pouring down in torrents. But his feet stayed rooted on the spot, eyes staring up at the dark sky as the streetlights began to turn on in the streets below.
"Ah..."
There was something that he'd heard before--
About the sea finding a way to meet those who missed it in the form of rain, with each drop like a kisses from a lover.
He laughed a little at the ridiculousness of the thought, but a happiness blossomed in him--
It was really different, swimming in a pool and swimming in the sea. But being soaked in rainwater like this...
It wouldn't be too bad to walk back to his room. He knew his limits, and knew how long he could stay here without getting sick. He closed his eyes and let the rain pelt down on his cheeks, savoring the feeling of heavy raindrops...
"Just a few more minutes..."
