Prologue
Today is the day that everyone received their Hogwarts letters. All staff and many volunteers have spent all summer remodeling and fixing all the damage from the war. Our heroes Harry Potter, Hermione Granger, Ron Weasley, Ginny Weasley , Luna Lovegood, Neville Longbottom, have all decided to go back to Hogwarts to redo their seventh year .
What they don't know however; is that the headmistress has also sent out the invites to all of her students including any and all former Slytherin students. include Draco Malofy, Theodore Nott, Blaise Zabini, Pansy Parkinson, Daphine Greengrass and Astoria Greengrass.
Hermione has received the honor of Head Girl, while Theodore Nott has received Head Boy. Neither are aware of this yet.
Hermiones Pov
'Today is September 1st and we are on the Hogwarts express going back to the place most of us feel is our home away from home. I wasn't able to reverse the obliviate charm I had placed on my parents for safety before the war; it had been too strong, so this summer I have stayed at the Weasleys. I and Ron had tried to be something more after the kiss and the chamber. But after a few weeks that fell apart when we realize we were better off as friends. Harry and Ginny have been together the whole summer but sometimes I get the feeling that there is a lot of strain. This is normal since all of us are suffering to some degree from PTSD. Hopefully being back at Hogwarts will help put some normalcy back into our lives. I know it won't be completely normal with all the losses we've had in seeing but being back in a routine that is comforting and safe will hopefully add balance to our life.'
I had just finished writing in my journal, it is how I have been coping these past few months. It is unusually quiet in the compartment I notice now that I'm done journaling. Harry and Ginny are in tense silence, and Ron is sleeping. I leave them be and plan to ask Gin about it later after the feast. "Guys I'm going to head to the headmistress and see about my Head duties and find out who is head boy, also see if I can find Neville, Luna, Dean, and Seamus." I state as I get up and pin my badge to my robes. "ok mione see you in a while" Gin replies stiffly.
As I am walking down the corridor I look for the rest of my friends and send them to Harry Ron and Ginny maybe that'll help lighten things up. I Come to a compartment of Slytherin's surprised to see them here after everything that happened.
" Oh my look Granger's head girl " drawls Malfoy from the window " wonder how Notts going to react to that?"
"I'm sorry Malfoy I was just surprised, I'll be going now, wait no insults ?" I stammer. It's strange to get tongue tide, but when you are caught by that many Slytherins not to mention all of them have become quite good-looking, even Parkinson has matured into her looks. It is even more intimidating. Wait why would I be intimidated by them??? I'm the brightest witch of our age.
" Gawking does not suit you, Granger, do you not have somewhere to be?" Parkinson states without looking up from filing her nails boredly. Zabini just glances at me and then back to the cards he's shuffling.
Without further ado I resume my walk to the Headmistress. What did Malfoy mean by Nott's reaction? I do not really know him, even though we have had our share of classes together he seems to take school as seriously as I but I have not really talked with him. I do know his father was also a death eater, one of the inner circle along with Malfoys. I arrive at the headmistress's compartment knock.
" Ah come in Ms. Granger, I have been waiting," McGonagall states. I come into the compartment and see none other than Theodore Nott sitting in front of the Head Mistress. Ah, I think that's what Malfoy meant. "Alright then now that you are both here, I expect you both to act like adults I need you to show the school that house affiliation does not matter and that you can have friends no matter which house you are in. Also, you have the head compartment to share, and also you both share a dorm. Your duties at school are to arrange patrols and lead the prefects, and you are able to deduct house points or award them, along with detentions. do not abuse this. Any questions? no? ok you both are dismissed."
We leave the compartment in silence and walk the short way to the head compartment.
" well, Nott as long as you do not have the same sentiments as your father did then I am willing to give you a chance since we will have to be working together all year," I state as I take a seat on the plush-looking blue couch.
Theo's Pov
When the door to the headmistress compartment opened and Granger walked in and took a seat did not surprise me at all, no it was the contemplative look she gave me as she sat down. We have barely exchanged more than a word or two our entire time at school together despite our many classes together.
What would surprise her greatly would be the knowledge that most of the Slytherin guys actually fancied her. Despite the whole "pureblood" nonsense, we all grew up with. It is why most of us joined in with Malfoy when he teased her for years. Though Blaise and I hadn't been part of it often. You have to admire a woman who wasn't interested in you for looks, money, or status. That's what drew us to her. Even if she didn't have any idea.
I snapped out of my thoughts as she finished her little peace talk.
"Well then Granger, I assure you I am nothing like my father, and as for giving me a chance I humbly accept," I state gravely then throw her a wink as I sit across from her. I watch as she blushes and fidgets uncomfortably. "I do believe we need to get our trunks from our original compartments and while we're at it do a patrol, can't be slacking in our new duties now can we." I mention with a smirk to rival Malfoys.
Hermione pov
I look at Nott a little startled and caught off guard. He has a deliciously deep baritone voice that's serious then with his little flirting gestures it is really contradicting. I am surprised I am even bothering to notice. I guess that now that I am not with Harry and Ron or trying to save our world from Dark wizards I can finally take a little notice of other things. Mind you a 'little notice' can't have him get an even bigger ego.
" Alright, then let's go, shall we? " I manage to say briskly. No one can say that I am one to slack off or shrink my duties of all the conciete! And Ferret must have taught all the Slytherins how to smirk like that.
Everything is fine and everyone is just catching up with their friends, when we reach my compartment with my friends all hell has broken loose. Everyone is sitting on one side of the compartment while Ginny and Harry scream at each other. Everyone stops as I open the door.
"What in the bloody hell is going on in here !" I exclaim " I leave for one blasted hour and shit hits the fan!" Everyone looks shocked since I never swear but good riddance this is unacceptable. Nott stands beside me looking quite smug and impressed. Everyone starts all talking at the same time.
"Shut it!" "Now Gin what happened?"
"Well, it seems Harry here has been cheating on me with Cho Chang all summer and our supposed friends all knew, please tell me Mia that you didn't know?" Ginny fumes.
I look around at everyone and all of them including Luna look ashamed. "Ginny, Hermione I can explain." Harry desperately pleads. "No! I can not believe all of you, Gin of course I didn't know I would have told you. Get your stuff you can come stay with me and Nott in the heads compartment the rest of the trip." I say while glaring at all of our supposed "friends".
Theos pov
I shake my head, and who ever says Gryffindors are loyal and Slytherins are not. We are just choosy in who is worthy of our loyalty then we are loyal for life and vice versa.
"Well then off to my compartment ladies to get my things, oh and Granger, since you are bringing a friend, don't mind if I invite one of mine?" I say with a wink just to see if she will blush again. " Also for that back there bravo." Both she and Weaslette look like I've grown two heads. Well I guess to get my stuff, I walk ahead of them and weaslette resumes her tirade of the idiot "boy who lived" the rest of the way. Finally reaching my compartment I grab my trunk and kick Blaise. "Oi, mate come with me and bring your stuff" " hey what about me?" Malfoy complains. "Yeah, yeah, sure come along too I guess." I laugh. They come with me to the heads compartment and again Granger and weaslette get quiet. "Now let's get this party started."
