Work Text:
The hum of the hospital lights was drowned out by the constant filing of her nails. Her trained hands went over the same nails over and over again, ten seconds on each side at a 90 angle. She filed, filed and filed the red nails until they were perfect.
She stopped the merciless filing to stare proudly at her perfect almond shaped nails with a smirk she placed the file down and slumped in her chair.
Nurse bendy put her arms down on the white desk and rested her chin on her palms and stared with empty interest at the, also white, walls. Scanning her surroundings for what felt like the 1000th time that day she sighed in annoyance.
“Everything in this stupid hospital is soo boring” dejected, she huffed and began absent mindedly fiddling with the assortment of things on her desk.
Her hands run to the thing closest to her, a pen which depicts a cross in front of a sunrise(sunset mabye?) with unreadable, warped words wrapped around underneath (probably about how Jesus loves her or something) Orel had gotten it for her, although she doesn’t fully understand the big deal with this Jesus guy, a present was a present and it was from Orel.
She liked Orel, he was nice polite and kind, someone she wished more people were. He treated her nice, she liked being treated nice, but doesn’t everyone like basic human etiquette?
She gripped the pen tighter. Huffing she rolled it away and looked up at the ceiling (what else did she have to do anyway) it was so bland and plain in here that it almost drove her insane, it almost seemed that the only splashes of colour were the angry red of her nails and the golden blonde of her hair.
“Excuse me?”
Nurse bendys head snapped forward. She had never seen this girl before.
Her hair was dark, dark. Almost like a crow or the night time sky. Her clothes matched her hair to a T, they were dark and black and void of all colour.
However what caught her eye the most her face. She had a round face with dark hazel eyes, and a ridged nose which fitted her face nicely, and it was littered in metal! They shined in the lights just like Christmas lights. She had never seen anyone so…so unique before? She brought her eyes to her soft pink lips, they were Cupid shaped and seemed to be pulled into an amused sort of smirk. Oh no! Had she asked a question? How long had she been staring? She must look so totally weird right now !
“Uh, yeah?” Nurse bendy wrung her hands, she couldn’t explain her hammering heart.
The woman shifted and then spoke again
“I’m looking for someone called Orel. Short, energetic, brown hair, always yapping about the love of god and all that” she mused. Nurse bendy made a note that her voice sounded like honey, and red hot nails.
“Oh! Orel? Yeah I know him, haven’t seen him though…” she managed to wrangled out despite the dryness of her throat. “This is like so, weird! Why am I acting like this? Not cool!” The woman slumped.
“ oh, well. Thanks anyway” her metal glistened as she turned to leave. No no no don’t go yet ! You’re the most interesting thing in here! Think Nursula! Think!
“Did they hurt?” She blurted out, her hands barely finding enough strength not to slam on the desk as she shot up. The woman jumped slightly in surprise at the sudden out burst. Yep, I’m deffo looking totally weird right now.
“I’m sorry?” She asked cautiously
“The metal, in your face? …Did it hurt to get it in there?” Her palms were sweating.
“Oh!” The woman’s expressions softened and she crossed her arms, chuckling softly.
“My piercings?eh, not really. I mean depending which ones your on about to be honest” she laughed and Nurse Bendy swore it was the prettiest most nicest thing she’s ever heard.
She scrambled to find one to talk about. She had so much metal piercings that she didn’t know which one to single out.
“ that one,” she pointed to the small silver ring in her eyebrow. “Did that hurt?”
The woman brought her hand up to her eyebrow, fiddling with the ring almost self-consciously.
“My eyebrow piercing? Nah, not really. It felt like a little pinch to be honest. They are the quite easy to get too. Hey, you’d look pretty cool with an eyebrow piercing!” She exclaimed excitedly.
Nurse bendys breath hitched in her throat. “ she thinks I’d look cool with metal in my eyebrow?…” now it was Nursulas turn to bring her hand up to eyebrow self consciously.
“You really think so?” She asked sheepishly.
The woman crossed her arms once again. “ yeah! I wouldn’t say it if I didn’t mean it” nurse bendys face felt very hot very suddenly.
“ ugh what was wrong with her! Was she sick? That would like, totally suck!”
The woman scratched the back of her head and looked at the clock. “Aw shoot, well it was real nice talking to you, but I’ve really gotta find that kid.” The woman put her hands in her pockets and nodded at her briefly “ I hope to see you around some time Nurse…..?” After a few second Nurse bendy realised this was her cue to say her name.
“Oh! Uh, Bendy. Nursula Bendy”
“Nice to officially meet you Nursula”
“Yeah, same here” she wrung her hands again.
Nurse bendy watched as the woman
Strolled closer and closer to the doors until she opened it as a “pop!” From the suction was heard while she then and stood half way outside. Nurse bendy shot up again. “Um, come back soon, lady!”
The woman turned her head, a prominent comical look on her face.
“You want me to come back to a hospital?”
“Oh. Yeah that does sound a bit odd. Dammit…”
“Y…eahhh?”
The woman laughed her honey laugh again.
“Steph.”
“Huh?”
“My name is Steph”
Nurse bendy perked up a bit.<
“Oh!um, hi Steph, or really bye Steph. I guess or whatever…”
With a shake of her head and a smile Steph said “ see you tomorrow Nursula” and then she was gone.
Nurse bendy was alone again, only company the humming of the lights and the beating of her heart. She sat down and giddily picked up her file again.
She smiled as she began assaulting her nails once again. She paused her filing. Maybe she’ll paint them a dark, dark black just like Stephanies hair. That didn’t matter now though, what did matter is that she’s coming back tomorrow just for her. Her face went hot again. For her. She can’t wait for tomorrow. She began filing again.
