Chapter One | A New World

YOUNG HARRY POTTER had fled from Potter Manor after being upset by his mother. He had ran into a clearing, ignoring the calls of his sister. He needed to clear his mind, but he was too angry inside of Potter Manor to really think. He had been so preoccupied with his thoughts, that he didn’t notice the dark clouds that were now swirling above him.

   CRACK

A bolt of red lightning struck the ground, and all living creatures within a mile of the now star-shaped ashen ground and sizzling smoke fled. In its place, now stood the body of a boy with long dark hair that waved at its ends, sticking to his thin face due to sweat. He brushed some of the length from his face, allowing him to take in his surroundings.

Anyone watching would have been frozen in shock at seeing a teenage boys body spasm as it struggled to take shape. One moment he looked like a scrawny eleven year old boy, another moment he looked like a scarred and rugged twenty-something man with a beard. The body shifting and morphing between the two shapes, only one thing remained constant. Bright green eyes, literally sparking with eldritch energy.

This shifting would have distracted any onlooker from seeing the items in his possession. If you were able to ignore all of the dragonhide leather, and the many rings and straps on his person (and the fact that his body faded in and out of view, as though you were looking at him through a veil of water), your gaze may have stopped on the fourteen inches of wood in his hand.

Long, thin and decorated with elderberries along its length, sat, rather peacefully, a wand. A wand that now had sparks of green also sputtering out.

All of the shifting ceased in seconds. Now bent over, the figure rose, and the body no longer resembled either form. Now a teenager that looked to be in his mid-teens, his chest was filling out, his face remained thin, but now due to the toned nature of his body, looked sharp. High cheek bones and scars and cuts that were quickly healing and fading from view.

The teenage boys’ eyes darted from tree to tree, looking for any movement. Like a panther eyeing its prey. He took a tentative step forward and, as though a sword had been pierced through his foot, he fell to the ground in pain.

Fuck! He thought. That didn’t feel right.

He looked at his leg, and he was surprised to find that it was there. He had a leg. For you see, for the last year, this young man had walked his earth with a leg and half. One half having been bitten off by a demon. He fell to his ass. Sprawled on the ground, sweating, panting, exhausted, but with two actual legs.

He sighed and leaned backwards. He slipped the Elder wand into its wrist holster and smiled.

‘I don’t know where you’ve brought me Tommy, and I don’t know why,’ he said to no one but himself. ‘But at least I’m alive.’

He then quickly checked over his memories. You can never be too sure when it came to demonic vortex’s forged through human sacrifice.

I’m Harry Potter. The Boy-Who-Lived. Leader of the Order of the Phoenix. I was placed in charge of the rebellion when I was sixteen and I was the last wizard alive.

After checking to make sure that his memories of his friends, his time at Hogwarts, his knowledge of spells and skills learned being on the run, he nodded to himself and silently cast a few types of shielding charms and wrapped himself in his invisibility cloak.

And for the first time since he was sixteen.

Harry Potter took a well-rested nap.

When Harry awoke, a chill had spread across the grass and threatened to penetrate the dragonhide leather he wore. But it was able to keep it out like an impenetrable wall. He sat up, of which took a considerable amount of energy, and took in his surroundings properly.

He had appeared in an opening in a wood. Winged around him were trees of varying sizes, that reached up high, forming a canopy of brown leaves around him. He checked himself. Dragonhide armour, both wands, both shrunken trunks around his neck, both legs.

   Both legs.

   That had shaken him.

When he had jumped in after Voldemort, he wasn’t sure what he was expecting. He just knew that he had to stop him from ruining whichever world didn’t “Have Harry Potter the Boy-Who-Lived” in. Despite the many years of torment. Harry knew he wouldn’t have been able to live with himself if he had allowed Voldemort to leave. Leaving Harry to try and pick up the pieces of the ruined world that, without a better way of saying it, was nothing.

The memory of the world Harry had departed was still too raw, too painful to think about, so he carefully placed those thoughts into a safe in his mind palace, along with all the other painful parts of his life. And then sat there. Sighing peacefully.

It feels good to just sit here, he thought to himself. No responsibilities, no one to run from. Just a second to myself.

He moved to lean back down again when he heard shouting slipping through the gaps in the treeline.

  ‘Harry!’

He sat upright, ignoring the jolt of pain he felt and scanned around him. With a snap upwards of his hand, his holly wand jumped into his grasp. With a wave he checked that the shield was still in place. He tugged the invisibility cloak tighter over his shoulders and crouched down, making himself seem as small as possible so that his entire body could become enclosed within the silky material.

Through the trees stepped out a young teen, she was looked tall for her age (Harry thought she looked around sixteen), she had long ombre red hair that cascaded down her face, softening her sharp facial features. She wore a thick white knitted jumper and black trousers with a long black robe over them that blew in the wind. But it was actually two things that caught Harry’s attention. This girl had shocking green eyes that burned like embers, and she held a delicate wand in her hand.

‘Harry?!’ she called out once more.

She looked around the opening and sighed.

  ‘Why is he like this?’

Harry stood up once he was sure she couldn’t see him. He waved his wand, running a few diagnostic spells. Once he was satisfied that there was no immediate danger, he swallowed his second thoughts and unclipped the fastener of his invisibility cloak around his shoulders and stuffed it into the leather compartment in his leather armour. He then checked his body.

I guess nothing shouts suspicious more than appearing out of nowhere wearing dragonhide armour. Harry thought to himself, and quickly cast glamour charms on all of his clothing.

Once that was done, he set aside the protective shields he cast and stepped forward.

The girl blinked a few times when Harry came into view, worrying her bottom lip as she looked Harry up and down. A second later she became a blur of red and green as she raced towards him and wrapped him in her arms.

‘Oh Harry,’ she said. ‘She’s sorry! She knows that she can’t make you do anything you don’t want to do anything you don’t want to.’ She was sniffing hard now, her shoulders shaking. ‘She was just letting you know that there had been a proposal. You don’t have to accept it… at least not yet.’

Harry could feel his heartbeat beat heavily against his chest as the beautiful girl clung to him tightly. His mind raced with thoughts—The biggest one being I’m engaged?!

The pair stood like that for a while. Not really knowing what to do, Harry wrapped his arms around the girl and pulled her close and stroked her back.

Once she stopped crying, she nuzzled into his chest.

  ‘That feels nice Harry.’

Harry cleared his throat and pulled back a little.

‘Uh, thanks,’ he said. He then looked her over one more time. He guessed that if in the world that Voldemort had brought him to that someone had recognised him as Harry, then there must be some similarities between the worlds. But he couldn’t place this girl that had so many similarities with him.

Did I have a cousin I never met? He thought to himself.

Once the girl looked up, her ombre red hair swishing past her face and her wicked green eyes locked with his, a sharp pain rushed through Harry’s body. Twisting his organs and causing a fire to spread through his veins. His mind felt as though someone had ripped it open and placed an extra bookcase in his mind palace.

The briefest of flashes told him that this world did have a Harry Potter, and it seemed that he had completely taken over this worlds Harry with his own life force. Almost completely displacing him. All that remained was his magical core, which Harry could feel being slowly consumed by his own, scarred and damaged one. Of which felt… strange. As he felt his magic take in Young Harry’s core, he could feel something coiling around his centre. And Young Harry’s memories, of which had been consumed by Harry’s, becoming nothing more than two dozen books on a shelf I his mental library.

He was now a new Harry Potter, younger twin to Iris Potter, the Girl-Who-Lived. In this world Lily had survived Voldemort’s survival, but James had not. James had sacrificed his life to save Iris. Lily had been hiding in a separate location with Harry.

They lived in Potter Manor, and Harry’s godmother, Bellatrix Lestrange spent most of her free time at the manor socialising with Lilly and training Harry and Iris in the duelling room. In this world Hogwarts started at twelve, and Harry and Iris had entered their third year in the summer just gone. Which made them fourteen. Yet Iris did not look fourteen.

‘Iris,’ Harry said. His sister looked up at him, he wasn’t sure if it was hormones of being back in a teenage body, or the emotions of the day catching up with him, but tears welled in his eyes. ‘Let’s go home.’
