Chapter 1: Teacher’s Kid

Chapter Text

Why couldn’t he stop thinking about that teacher’s kid. The disgustingly perfect student of a boy. He was going to continue in his mental complaining, until his thoughts were interrupted by a hand on his shoulder. He jolted upward at the sudden physical touch, as he glanced to the side to see who the hell it was. Low and behold, it’s exactly the guy he was thinking about.
“What’s the deal, Waterboy. Don’t you got a class to be at?” He scoffed at Tide, hoping for him to leave. Clearly, that didn’t work.
“Hm, I was wondering the same about you.” Tide said, as he shuffled himself forward and lowered himself to kneel down by where Mark sat on the floor of the restroom, there not wanting to deal with a classroom setting.
Of course, Tide had a soft smile on his face as he lightly chuckled at his comeback as he moved himself forward. Embarrassingly, that smile flustered Mark a little. He was confident in the fact that his face didn’t show it though.
“Hah, you really think I’m dealing with the teacher’s shit today? I’ve got the least of concern about that right now.”
“Least of concern you say? What is your concern, then?”
That question. It left Mark stumped. He couldn’t just tell him what was on his mind. Mark himself didn’t even really know the extent of those thoughts.
“You know what. Nevermind. Nevermind. You win! I’m going to class.” He said quickly and sternly. He rose, causing Tide’s hand to fall from his shoulder. “And next time, mind your own business, nobody likes a nosy teacher’s kid.”
And with that, Mark stiffly speed-walked his way to the door and left the room. Admittedly, he really didn’t want to return to class, but he’d rather that than face Waterboy right now.
Tide never understood why Mark was the way he was. He was an enigma to Tide, and maybe he liked that. It was oddly charming, the way the misbehaving boy was. He stood from where he was left kneeling and thought: I’ll catch you next time, Winters.
