Work Text:

Handholding is not gay.

Changbin is not gay. Why would he be? Jisung was just a close homie of his. A homie who made him feel like there were a million butterflies in his stomach when their fingers connected.

A homie that made Changbin want to pinch and poke his beautifully chubby cheeks, especially when Jisung was eating. He wanted to cuddle the younger well into the night or on the couch while watching a movie.

Which he has done. All of the above to be exact.

They’ve also kissed and gotten each other off when they were horny, but that was normal, right? Both of them were just too busy with college life to start dealing with all the struggles dating brought.

Anyways, there’s no fucking way Jisung is gay.

Minho clearly doesn’t know anything when he calls them meant for eachother either.

"Yah Changbin. Should I buy this book? It's very interesting, just kinda sad." Jisung asked, signaling to the book with his free hand.

The hand which was not tangled with Changbin's fingers at the side of the table.

"It's hyung to you." Changbin sighed, waking up from his conflicting thoughts. "You like sad things don't you though?"

Jisung made a noise of agreement while still distractingly looking at the book. It had inner Changbin cooing at how adorable it sounded.

They had visited one of the bookstores they frequent. A lot of college students would come here to study and just look around for books. The cafe located inside was an added bonus allowing them to grab breakfast or brunch on the way to classes.

So that's where they were; browsing for new books while getting lunch and for some reason holding hands. It could be said Jisung had anxiety, the act of skinship often helped him cope with that. Changbin also remembers the younger saying something about finding his hyung's specifically calming.

He glanced again towards their tangled hands. Jisung was now absentmindedly rubbing his thumb over his knuckles.

Changbin took a deep breath to calm down his nerves. Why was he nervous? Jisung has always liked skinship, Changbin has always been the victim of that.

Nothing's different this time.

"Sung, you done with your cheesecake?" Changbin slowly said. He got up from his chair, taking a moment to put away their tray with dishes. An excuse to let his heart rate go down. "Let's go checkout. We shouldn't be late to class again."

Jisung got up from his chair, closing his book finally completely oblivious to the elder’s predicament. "Ahhh hyung! We were only late last time because you couldn't decide what to order!"

"Sure, keep telling yourself that." Changbin chuckled.

Jisung pouted, shoving his workload into his custom made tote bag. The bag was very cute actually with animal keychains adorning it. Jisung's name was printed near the top with a string of numbers under it. Maybe it stood for a birthday?

"Let's go hyung." The younger repeated, a pout still wide on his face.

"Ah Sung! I'll pay for your book, you're making me feel guilty." Changbin groaned.

Jisung giggled as they made their way to the checkout. It was far, the cafe had been right next to it.

"Why don't you just pay me with kisses?"

Changbin stopped, quite literally stopped.

He stood face and body frozen in the middle of the checkout line.

Wait, what was he overreacting for? It's all fine, they've always joked around.

"Next!"

It was the cashier who brought him to life this time. Thankfully giving Changbin a bit more time before having to respond to Jisung's joking question.

He slid his credit card in the slot, thanking the person working with a slight head nod before handing the bag to Jisung.

"Hyung! With that look anybody would believe you have a crush on me." Jisung laughed out loud, playfully hitting Changbin's arm.

The laugh sounded horribly forced.

⌦ .。.:*♡

They held hands again all the way back to their class. It was fortunate that they shared the next one.

"Ah, I see the couple are still in their honeymoon phase." Minho glanced at them, or more specifically their tangled hands. "Young love must be nice."

"Minho-hyung, stop teasing! What couple? Binnie-hyung and I are still the very close friends we were." Jisung groaned, dropping their hands.

Changbin looked down at Jisung's limping hand. It was right there. He could just stretch a finger and he could touch it.

But Minho's statement had Changbin stopping in his tracks.

"Yah! Hyunjin, get a load of this. Guess they were actually too drunk to remember." Minho laughed, signaling another member of their friend group, Hyunjin, over.

"Oh my gosh, no way." The tallest one looked between them, disbelief written on his face.

What was that fascinating?

Changbin looked over to his left at Jisung who also had the same confused look on his face.

"Guys…? Why don't you help a bro out and tell us what happened?" Changbin stated getting a tad nervous.

"Oh nothing~ Remember when everyone gathered to drink a few days ago?" Hyunjin started then getting interrupted by Minho.

"Basically after two rounds of drinks, you guys declared your love for each other. It was quite cute and sappy actually. I forgot to say congratulations, so anyway congratulations and happy almost one week."

"Yes! What Minho-hyung said! But I'll be the one to break the sappy party and say you guys ended up banging in one of Chan's guest rooms the rest of the night." Hyunjin sighed. "Poor hyung, had to clean that horrifying scene up."

"One week…" Jisung whispered

"Yup." Changbin responded just as quiet.

Shit, maybe he was gay. Or he's been gay since forever and his tipsy state had decided he's had enough time playing around.

Maybe he was in love with his homie.

Wait, they were boyfriends now.

Changbin made a note to never go drinking so much again. Especially if that meant he had missed, quote Minho, a sappy and cute confession.

He looked to his left again to the still blank Jisung, the only sign of life was his face becoming red. Oh how Changbin felt like kissing those cheeks and adorable plump lips.

Because he could now and not have to make a stupid excuse about bro code. He could put all the love he wants into it now.

Or at least now, with a conscious mind.

If they ended up sneaking off to one of the rundown bathrooms after class their excuse was that they were going to celebrate their One Week.
