Chapter Text
Have you ever been to a wacky country? Well, no matter, I’ll just take you to one right now. On the world of camazotz, in the continent of zetsubou and in the country of luster on 38th street of crinkle berry road, the last house down the block which was a modern burgundy and White House with a pristinely kept black Honda in the front of the driveway. It was currently 10:24 in the Williams house, and all was awake on this nice Tuesday basking in the morning sun.
Mama Serna, a pleasant women full of love and the mother of the Williams family was making breakfast for everyone, the sun beaming down from the kitchen window and onto her beautiful black skin, her brown almond shaped eyes looking down onto the pan of bacon she’s making, then taking it to the plate on the counter once done. A strand of her black wavy hair coming into her face that she promptly whisked away and around the back of her ear as her white, flowy dress with capped sleeves swishes around her body as she moves to the dinning table to put the food down and her pink fuzzy house slippers barley make a creak as she steps and sits into her chair.
Scrambled eggs with pancakes along with the freshly made bacon quickly goes from plate to plate as the family that’s already at the table starts to prepare their own plates with the delicious food. Her husband, brandy, a Filipino man with brown messy hair and black, low eyes that are currently looking at his wife lovingly takes her hand as she gets comfortable in her seat. His white button up shirt with its sleeves folded up going up a little more higher as he reaches out for her hand to hold and rub her knuckles, his brown slacks moving ever so slightly as he leans over the table to get a piece of bacon and sit a bit more straighter in his chair with his feet snugly in a matching pair of fuzzy slippers like his wife’s, only his are gray.
Sitting next to Serna at the family dining table was her only daughter, jasmine. Jasmine was a 16 year old girl, her brown hair braided into a teardrop style that was currently put into a bun to not be in her way at the moment, her blue long sleeved crochet top with the sleeves a bit big rolled up like her fathers and her crossed legs clad with black jeans as her soft black slippers dangled off of one of her feet that was in the air. Her brown sleepy eyes fixed on her phone as she text her friend and or assistant Tiffany.
Tiffany, who was Jasmine's friend and partner since they were kids, at the moment she was in her own house that was a few blocks away from jasmines, in her bedroom and on her bed with a bowl of cereal in her lap that she’s eating while texting jasmine. Her brunette hair in space buns and her nice white knitted sweater matching with her tennis skirt and her black leggings due to it being a bit too cold for just a skirt and nothing under. Her gold and silver necklace dangled in the air as Tiffany leaned forward a smidge to get a spoonful of cereal, shown and shining in the light of the sun was her and jasmine initials carved into the metals that she so loved playing with subconsciously as it seemed to calm her and make her happy. Locking onto jasmines latest text, Tiffany’s blue eyes watched as her fingers deftly wrote out a simple yet detailed response to jasmine, who was currently worried and wanting a report on any and all deals that were made and businesses to be made, a topic of getting money that always came up on tuesdays.
Back at the Williams house and at the table where everyone was eating or at least was present, on the left side of the table next to Brandy was his son, Carlos. Carlos was a single year older than Jasmine, his brown messy hair just like his fathers put into a little ponytail at the back of his head, his black tank top and sweatpants with white slippers on his feet. Almond shaped brown eyes staring at his phone screen as he texts one of his girlfriends, lying coming easy to him as he copy and pastes the same sweet as honey text to her while barely remembering her name-another gorgeous girl calling him all sorts of names as she says she wants to breakup and that she knows he’s cheating. Carlos hates it when they do that, especially when they only give evidence or think it’s only one girl when it’s in fact many more yet they only get mad and know of one. If you're going to cuss him out, at least do it right. He’s almost an animal when going to town on his food, playing with woman really makes one hungry, especially when he has his homeboy texting him another girl's phone number for shits and giggles with a text saying “bet you won’t get her.” To which he promptly shoots back a text saying, “give me 10.” As he starts chewing into his food quickly while texting the new girl.
Minutes pass in a comfortable silence only filled with the sounds of enjoying a nice breakfast and serna and brandy making occasional talk, or the occasional sounds of texting coming from either jasmine or Carlos that started to slow down as they started eating more and more. Suddenly, randomly, a knock at the door. Several knocks in fact. Serena looked at brandy and brandy was quick to look back after stealing a glance at the door first. Jasmine and Carlos stopped what they were doing to look up at each other and their parents, food forgotten and now focus shifted to whoever was banging on their door like that this early in the morning and with no one expecting anyone to come over.
Serena is the one to get up, that is before brandy can try to, curtly opening the door right before getting slightly scared at the person banging louder and harder knocking at the door just as she gets close enough to it, the sound being almost as loud as a gunshot or someone kicking the door. Finally opening the door, Serna is met face to face with two men. Both men are nearing around 6 feet and wearing black suits, almost looking like ‘Men in Black’ look alike and or wannabes with dark tinted shades covering their eyes. “Hello miss. May we come in?” Spoke the man on the left in a low and husky voice, not moving an inch and his demeanor making it obvious he didn’t come to make small talk.
Serena, complying without much reluctance for the two men, moves to the side to let them in the house. At this point the rest of the family is already up and out of their seats, brandy coming to stand next to his wife as the kids stand behind them, eyeing them suspiciously and giving each other looks. “What can we do for you, gentlemen?” Brandy asked calmly as he looked between them, the man on the right then proceeded to speak, a cold and equally as low voice as the left one, “Mr brandy. We have you and your family under arrest for killing more than 10,000 civilians along with stealing many of the world’s possessions ranging from government level equipment to petty thieving in museums and simple liquor stores.” As the right one speaks the left man pulls out a badge identifying him as someone working for the GAE government.
Immediately the air gets thick and everyone has a more serious edge to them as the information as to why the men are there is revealed. Jasmine, slowly and almost nonchalantly goes to pick up a knife from the table she used previously for her breakfast. “I don’t know what you're talking about, sir.” Plainly brandy said, putting on a face of shock at the accusations, the man on the left walks towards him, putting his badge away as he says, “don’t make this harder than it needs to be.” Serna suddenly and with speed takes the arm of the man walking towards them and grabs a butcher knife that was hidden in her dress and swiftly stabs the man in the stomach, making his black suit leak blood red and only bleed more as she twists the knife in him.
The right man is quick to try and pull a gun on serna, but gets stopped by brandy giving the guy a right hook square in his nose and sending him stumbling to the ground after tripping on his feet from the hit, left thoroughly knocked out as he twitches for a second before going still and limp from passing out. “Run.” Says both serna and brandy to their children as more men in black wannabes start coming in the house via the front door.
Jasmine with Carlos by her side both dart up to their rooms, knowing to not fight their parents on their words. Taking a sharp left and almost crashing into the damn wall as they scramble upstairs and into their rooms they quickly grab prebacked bags along with empty ones to stuff their things into them haphazardly, Carlos busting through jasmines door with different bags of his own that he promptly tosses next to hers as he starts helping her with the few things she still needs to get. Jasmine stands, leaving Carlos to finish things up as she rushes to her window, already having grabbed the rope from under her bed for their escape. She sees a few more people outside, standing around the house in an attempt to block them from escape. Sighing in annoyance she goes back to Carlos on the ground, she rummaged in one of the bags and grabbed two shotguns from it, tossing one to her brother as she stands and goes back to the window, the action earns her a look from her brother and a question, “how many are out there?”
“Enough.”
Carlos chuckles and stands, going over to Jasmine, checking the numbers himself as he gets his shotgun ready, the people outside seeming like statues besides from their occasional shake, which both Carlos and Jasmine know are from fear. From outside the room and downstairs where their parents still lurk they hear various noises, ranging from the sound of stomach turning screams and pleas for a chance of getting away, to the sounds of banging and a newer sound- rapid movement up the stairs. Jasmine and Carlos stay in silence, Jasmine looking over to the door while Carlos keeps a close eye at the people outside as they both wait for any signal from their parents as Jasmine picks her gun up and aims it at the door.
Carlos looks from the people to Jasmine still looking and waiting for a signal, only for nothing to occur for a moment. Then, almost inaudible, there’s a soft knock at the door and Jasmine is quick to put her gun down and go to the door to open it for their parents. White dress now an ombre of bloody red to white that drips and stains the floor as serna walks in and goes to the children, brandy following close behind as he closes the door and serna comes to her children and gives each a hug while staying quiet to not disturb or alarm the rest of the people still alive.
Brandy gives his kids a kiss on the forehead each, following in his wife’s steps of being as quiet and calm as possible even with the blood on his hands dripping still and hot on his skin from its freshness. Carlos takes the moment as a time to open the window and aim his shotgun, Jasmine following him and raising her own as she goes to stand with him. They were quick to take down all of them. The first few went quiet and just barely noticed by the rest of them. Though sooner or later they did start getting shot at once the others noticed them, but still, they dropped like flies and soon no one was blocking the path to escape. That was for now at least.
Jasmine quickly and efficiently took the rope that was, at the moment, put over her arm as to not lose it and to have it close and tied it to her bed frame and then threw it down the window, the second floor not being there best choice of escape but at this point when there are most definitely more ‘men in black’ people coming to get them it was a better one then not. Serna and Brandy promptly got their own bags from their room and tossed it out of the window and down to the ground and then helped the kids with their own.
Jasmine was the first to go down after the bags got tossed out, then Carlos, serna, and finally brandy. All of the family went down smoothly and almost monotonously from the fact that this wasn’t their first time doing this in the slightest, though for serna and brandy it was even more normal as they’ve been doing it for longer than the kids.
Forgetting the rope and just grabbing their things the family descended Into the woods just outside the back of their house. An almost three hour hike that was easily cut into a simple two and twenty something minutes thanks to everyone’s quick walking and energy still high from morning’s breakfast and the fact that it was early in the morning. How the Williams knew they reached their destination was a car. A red Chevy that was conveniently in front of a dirty path that easily went into a road that wasn’t frequented yet still would get people where they needed so long as there wasn’t a time limit.
Brandy was the one to help everyone out with their bags in the trunk of the car before hopping shotgun as Serna got into the driver seat and started the car once he was in, Jasmine and Carlos already in their seats in the back, a seat away from each other as they both take to leaning onto side of the doors and looking out, Carlos to the left while jasmine stuck to the right.
1:35 pm
The engine started with a little roar and a bit of smoke from the cold air. It was autumn, late autumn and so close to snow everyone could practically feel it- or just regularly feel it from the weather getting windy. The car heated up slowly, frankly too slow for everyone as it was too cold for an unheated car but all just suffered through it as Brandy got out ogle maps and pulled up to the airport that was a solid hour away. Close for convenience. Their tickets already bought with new fake passports ready for use and to an entirely new continent and country for a quick way to lose the trail on them.
Carlos sat in the backseat, texting his friends that already knew of his less than Ideal life about the situation and making jokes about it while his other texts are just his girlfriends getting all sad and depressed at him ‘randomly’ breaking up with them even though everything seemed good in the relationship. Then telling the long distance one that he’s just skipping town for a family vacation or some other lie he always got away with.
To Carlos’s right was jasmine. She was already done texting Tiffany about her situation and now was just looking out of the window and into the world around her. Her text had been short, mostly because of the fact that she didn’t exactly realize where they were going next herself and honestly wasn’t sure of anything but herself. The only thing she could control. The only thing that told her that she was being nonchalant and good enough to not be put into this situation, but of course it doesn’t work like that. Hence the situation.
As she looked out into the autumn leaves she couldn’t get her mind away from Tiffany, her only friend, her best friend…. Her everything. In this type of business it’s better to not get attached. No friends. No boyfriends. No girlfriends. Nothing. Carlos only played around because he never got attached and wanted a distraction no matter where they were, not jasmine though. Jasmine kept Tiffany because she got attached- it was hard not to seeing as they were childhood friends, their parents being in the same group when they were younger and still talking even after they grew up and because of it Tiffany never was surprised by what jasmine did as she occasionally did it herself or had to randomly move.
She thought about her situation and decided to put her earbuds in, both drowning out the sound of the Alexo on her dads phone telling her mom which way to turn and saying how far they are from the airport as she drives. It was also to drown out the sounds of Carlos’s thumbs tapping on his phone and the occasional sounds of sighs of annoyance or chuckles from him as he text multiple people at once, each giving him different conversation. But besides that she was also doing it to lose herself for a moment to her thoughts and the simple yet beautiful sight of the world.
3:02 pm
An hour car ride that passed much easier than it probably should have and only a bit prolonged due to at least three gas station stops to pick up things such as snacks, drinks, and actual gas with a bathroom break for everyone considering they had a light lunch with how much time had passed and their breakfast time turned to lunch time.
The Williams of course had to change, disguises and all were needed after being discovered so easily as they didn’t even see it coming. So when they had their last gas station stop they were quick to change and get their fake passports ready as they went into the airport and easily got past security and on their plane.
Now, today the Williams decided to splurge on their trip, first class tickets that were perfect for keeping a low presence…. It also made sure they were all comfortable on their trip and made it even better when they all got into their seats which were all in different sections. Serna and Brandy both sat in the same seats with no one by them while Jasmine and Carlos were at least two sections away from both each other and their parents. A good trip indeed.
A ten hour plane ride went by smoothly and damn near perfect as the plane didn’t even have any bad situations in the sky such as turbulence and such. Stepping out of the plane and into their new world- or at least that’s what most would call being in Aimer, country of follia, especially when you're in a world where the season and weather changes drastically depending on where you are.
Besides from the weird weather Changes and overall normal jetlag and getting used to different time zones, there was also just getting used to the famous country overall. Aimer. It is the Country of love and hope, an ironic thing by some means but most certainly a good description of the place seeing as people here find love if nothing else goes right here.
The Williams stopped by a quick store to replenish any and everything they may need for their new lives before promptly heading to their new home- or at least new place of residence as it was just a hotel for now. They needed more time for an actual house, and still needed the heat to some what to cool off a bit before making any sudden moves, so a hotel it was. The beginning of their lives- here that is.
