Chapter Text
It’s been six months since the war ended between Wakanda and Talokan. Shuri and Namor decided to wave the white flag and make peace in more ways than one. They made peace between their two countries and between themselves; word is they are now dating, which has raised eyebrows among some people. Some Wakandans have been mumbling about their age difference and the fact that Namor was the one who caused Queen Ramonda’s death. They were wondering how Shuri could forgive him since he was responsible for her own mother’s demise, but everybody knows Shuri is a carefree spirit who marches to the beat of her own drum.
One hot afternoon Okoye was down by the pond getting a workout and training session in, trying to get herself back in shape and get re-skilled with her spear, since she resumed her duties with the Dora Milaje after being fired by the Queen. Okoye was in the middle of a top tier spear swing when a voice behind her distracted her, making her jump.
“Well, well, well, that is some nice technique there.”
Okoye spun around, she was surprised to see who it was, it was Namor, the leader of Talokan. She wasn’t very fond of him, even though their nations were no longer at odds.
“Ahh, Fish Boy”, Okoye said sarcastically, “What brings you on dry land today?”, as she wiped the sweat off her brow.
Ignoring her question, Namor continued with his compliments, “very nice form”, he said as he admired her body, eyeing her up and down, enjoying the view.
Okoye noticed his wandering eyes and immediately interjected. “Shuri is up at the courtyard if you want to see her. I can call her if you want.”
“No no, that won’t be necessary. I’m in front of the person who I want to see.”
That caught Okoye by surprise, “Me? What do you want with me?”, she asked cautiously. She didn’t trust him as far as she could see him.
“Attuma, my good friend, are you and him, you know, a thing?”, Namor pried, asking with a grin on his face.
“It was one date”, Okoye blushed, “and I decided that he’s not for me. Interesting fellow though.”
Namor laughed, “It didn’t work out? That’s funny, because he spoke very highly of you, he seems smitten.”
“Oh really? That’s news to me. Again, we’re not a thing.”, Okoye picked up her spear and went back to training, ignoring Namor, still unsure why he’s here.
“I guess that means you’re single?”, he asked curiously.
“Very much so”, Okoye replied, practicing her swing, still not paying him any mind.
“I guess that leaves a chance for me”, Namor said, with a sinister lusty look in his eyes, and still with that grin on his face.
“Excuse me!?”, Okoye slammed her spear into the ground, she was pissed at what he just said, and just as she suspected he was hitting on her.
Namor laughed, “Did I say something wrong?”
“I don’t know what you’re what up to or what game you’re playing, but you should leave, now!”
“Okoye, please forgive me, I didn’t mean to offend you, but I was just wondering how a beauty like you is not taken.”
“Why is it your concern!”, she shot back. “Aren’t you dating my little sis? I don’t think she would be pleased to hear you’re down here making propositions with her General.”
“Dating? No no, you’re mistaken, we’re only friends. I’m still getting to know her. Lovely girl, that Shuri, but a man like me is looking for a woman, a strong woman, who’s sure of herself”, Namor responded, as he walked closer to Okoye, circling her, taking her all in.
Okoye backed up, now reaching for her spear.
Namor stopped in his tracks. “I’m not going to hurt you Okoye, I’m trying to befriend you.”
“Get the hell outta here before you force me to use this”, Okoye pointing her weapon at him.
Namor got the message. “Okay I’ll leave you alone for now but do me a favor and keep this visit between us. Shuri doesn’t need to know.”
“Why should I?”
“Because you will regret it if you don’t”, Namor warned.
“Is that a threat!? Be gone before I slice those wings off your feet and make you useless”, Okoye shot back.
Namor smiled at Okoye’s tough demeanor. “Mmm, assertive women turn me on.”
“Aaarrghhh!”, Okoye charged towards him with her spear.
Namor quickly ran and dived into the water, just before she could reach him. Okoye couldn’t believe what just happened. Namor was exactly who she thought he was, a slimy asshole. Shuri deserved better than that punk because he clearly still had evil intentions. Okoye had to tell her; she couldn’t let her Sis go out like that. But would Shuri believe her, she was very smitten with the guy. Okoye knew telling her would hurt her, so she wondered if she should say anything at all. She had a lot to think about.
Namor
Namor swam back to his under-water world fast as he could when he was approached with the spear. “That Okoye, she’s something else”, he thought to himself as he finally reached Talokan.
He became fond of Okoye from afar when he saw her in action against Attuma on the bridge. Her fierceness and confidence as well as her striking appearance caught his attention. It was at that moment he knew he had to have her. If it meant forgiving and making peace with Wakanda, so be it. If it meant betraying his loyal friend Attuma, so be it, and if it meant befriending and misleading Shuri, then so be it.
Shuri was a sweet girl, but that is the thing, she is just a girl to him, a very naïve girl. She was falling for Namor, but he doesn’t have the intentions for things to get that far. He wants to get close to her enough to get more inside information about Wakanda, to utilize their resources, and shoot his shot at Okoye. Maybe his advances with Okoye at the pond didn’t work this time, he can admit he was too forward, but he wouldn’t stop until he got a piece of the General.
Okoye
When Namor was out of sight, the General stood there in disbelief, rubbing her temples, a headache had come upon her. How could that evil man put her in that position, and how could he do that to Shuri. Okoye could admit Namor was very handsome, but his ego and narcissism was a big turn off, plus Shuri had eyes for him, she would never go there with him and betray her good friend who she viewed as her sister. That encounter threw her off her game and shook her up so bad that she ended her training session; she had to go lay down and get her thoughts together.
Okoye would go against everything she stood for if she kept this info to herself. She had to warn Shuri about Namor, she was the new Black Panther for goodness sake, she had to protect her at all costs, and not just physically, but emotionally as well.
To be continued…
