Chapter 1: Iida and Uraraka

Chapter Text

Denki Kaminari had an odd way of making everyone feel comfortable and cared for when he spent any amount of time with his class. Of course, he had noticed that certain people gravitated towards each other more than others, and specific friend groups had formed in the mix. Denki, however, did not care about these friendship lines. He believed that a friend was a friend, period.

Iida and Uraraka

What Denki had noticed about the group of friends that often got lumped into being called ‘the Deku support squad’, was that wherever Tenya Iida was, so was Ochako Uraraka. It was like the two were inseparable, and Denki believed it had to do with the fact that they were already friends on the first day– something about entrance exam trauma.

While he knew that the rest of Midoriya’s friends were close with each other, those two were almost close in a different way.

Ah.

“Those two like each other, don’t they?” Denki asked, and Sero, who was sitting next to him on the couch, nodded.

“It’s kinda obvious bro. They follow each other around like puppies.”

“Like how you follow–MMMphm.” Denki loved the taste of common room couch pillows in the evening. How refreshing.

“Do not name drop. It’ll make people just appear. I’ll remove this pillow and you’ll be quiet, you get me?” Sero said seriously, and Denki nodded frivolously. Denki watched as the entire friend group came out of the open kitchen door and into the living area, sitting down to watch Denki and Sero play video games.

“I didn’t even have to say it bro. He just appeared.” Denki laughed, and the newcomers looked between the two boys confused.

“I feel like we missed a very important part of this conversation.”

“Don’t worry about it, ‘Roki. Denki doesn’t know when to change topics.” Sero said, glaring at Denki.

“So! What are you guys planning to do tonight?” Denki asked, and everyone shrugged.

“Probably just study and go to bed, why?” Uraraka explained, and everyone nodded.

“Well, why not join us! We were going to play games later–don’t worry class rep, nothing scandalous– and you guys should totally join!”

“That could be fun,” Tsu croaked, and the rest verbalized their agreement.

“So it’s set then, you guys are joining all of us for game night. I’m so glad you actually agreed, this is going to be so much fun.” After an hour or so of wrangling classmates into playing, the willing participants sat in a large, lazy circle on the ground.

“What are we playing tonight man?”  Kirishima asked, shifting back on his hands.

“Truth or dare, obviously. It’s the best game to get to know the people who don’t play with us every week!” Denki clapped his hands together and sighed. “Me first. Um… Midoriya, truth or dare?”

Midoriya froze. Had he ever played this before? “Um… D-no. Truth. I choose truth?”

“Ok, don’t be scared honey. But you do need to know we have a truth pact. Anyone who chooses truth only has one available skip. You have to answer truthfully and use the skip wisely.” Mina explained, and Midoriya gulped audibly.

“Ok man, what is the stupidest thing you’ve ever seen Bakugou do?”

Midoriya shrunk in relief. “I once–”

“Watch it nerd. I know where you live.”

“I once watched Kacchan walk into a glass door because he thought it would open automatically? We were like five, so not too bad.”

“Damnit.”

Everyone burst into laughter, and Kirishima leaned over and patted Bakugou on the back. “Don’t worry man, you were just a kid.”

“Doesn’t make it less embarrassing.”

“Auntie Mitsuki had to carry him afterwards because he wouldn’t stop crying.”

“DEKU!” Again, more laughing.

“Ok Midoriya, your turn to ask. Anyone in the circle is fair game.”

“Ok, um… Todoroki-kun, truth or dare?”

Todoroki thought about it for a minute. “Dare. I’d like to spite my father. Give me something scandalous.”

The group laughed again, and Todoroki looked to Sero for confirmation that they were not, in fact, laughing at him.

“Ok, you know how you can make people out of ice? Melt one's head off and send it to your family group chat.” Midoriya said, trying to keep a straight face. As Todoroki completed his dare, Denki schemed how to get back the power of the game. A few round’s went by, and finally,

“Denki, truth or dare?” Mina asked, looking at him expectantly. And Denki, who was not a chicken, despite what his friends would say, did not back down from a dare.

“Dare.” He responded confidently.

“Text Shinsou.”

“Excuse me! Mina!” Denki exclaimed, sparking slightly.

“Do it dunce face, text him.” Bakugou snickered, and Denki huffed. Fine. He pulled out his phone and loaded up Shinsou’s contact, sending him a picture of a cat he had saved earlier in the day.

“Ok, while we wait for him to respond, I must now pass the pain to someone else. Iida, truth or dare?”

Iida sputtered for a moment before pushing his glasses up. “Truth, please.”

“Do you have a crush on someone in this room? And remember, you’re under a truth pact.” Denki smirked at the terror in Iida’s eyes as he tried his hardest to avoid eye contact.

“Yes, I do. But that,” he punctuated with a hand chop, “is all you’re getting out of me.” Good. Let the meddling commence.

Ding

‘I will shove this cat down Japan's throat and make everyone love her.’

Ah yes, Hitoshi Shinsou. The world's biggest cat person.

As the game progressed, It became Sero’s turn to ask someone.

As an agent of chaos, he was prepared. “Hey Uraraka, truth or dare?”

“Dare!” She cheered cheerfully, and a shit eating grin spread across Sero’s face.

“Text your crush. Doesn’t matter what the content is, just text them.”

“I hate you.” She growled, and whipped out her phone. After a few seconds of texting, and a full two minutes of debating if she wanted to skip, she sent it.

Ding.

‘Hi.’

“Oh. OH.” Iida whipped his phone out and stared at it, before unlocking it.

Hello Ochako.’

Mission success.
