It was safe to say that George had never been as nervous and excited as he currently was. In less than half an hour he was gonna get off that plane and finally step on floridian soil and finally be together in person with his boyfriends.
Boyfriends. The word still brought butterflies to George's stomach, months after they had all gotten together. And now he was going to finally achieve one of his biggest Dreams — live with them.
George’s train of thoughts was interrupted by an announcement, calling for all the passengers to fasten their seatbelts and prepare for landing. The boy did as requested and soon he began to see the ground get closer and closer, his excitement growing with every second.
A few minutes later, the ground was already just mere meters below them and suddenly, George felt the wheels hit the ground, the plane shaking up a little bit, and around fifteen seconds later, it came to a full stop.
That was it. He was there.
It took George a little more than ten minutes to go through security and find his luggage, thankfully the airport had approved his request for a private path, so there weren't any people to slow him down.
He was currently looking around for Sapnap, the younger had sent him a message that he would be near the exit of the airport, so George was headed just there.
He didn't even fully realize when two arms wrapped around him from behind, until he heard Sapnap's voice in his ear.
“You’re here.”
George quickly wiggled out of his arms, just to turn around and pull him back in. He just stood there, enjoying the moment for a few seconds before speaking up.
“I am. It feels unreal.”
“I know.”
The pair broke the hug a few seconds after, and the two shot a short video of them meeting for George’s vlog, since he hadn't expected Sapnap to pop up from behind him and he hadn't been recording, but he still wanted the fans to have some kind of interaction.
After that, they made their way to the car and after Sapnap popped a confetti blower, George put the camera away, to finally be able to have a moment, just for them two.
The brunet leaned over the console to wrap an arm around Sapnap's shoulder.
“I missed you. A lot.”
He watched Sapnap's eyes soften, before he whispered. “I know. I missed you too. We both missed you.” The younger then leaned in closer, gently connecting their lips.
George kissed back, using his hand to pull Sapnap closer, basking in the comfort of his presence after so many months away from him. He never wanted to feel that distance again. He wanted to be able to see him in person, touch him in person, and just be there with him in person. Exactly the same went for Dream, and George could feel himself growing more and more impatient to finally have him in his arms as well.
And so, he pulled away and soon they were on their way.
The ride to the Dream Team house had been not as short as George had expected, but now, after Sapnap had gone in the house to get Dream, he wished it had gone on for a bit longer. He was pacing around, shaking a little bit, but his cheeks still hurt from all the smiling he was doing, as he was talking to the camera.
With the corner of his eye he saw Sapnap come out of the house.
“He’s coming.”
“What did you say?”
“He's coming!”
“Where's he coming from? There's so many doors!”
“I know, there's so many- you have to guess.”
“He's behind me or something, is he setting me up?”
“He’s behind you!”
George would never admit it to anyone, but he fell for it, he turned around and he felt his heart jump up, only to be met with nothing.
He fell for it, but he couldn't care when he heard a door close in the distance and suddenly he felt the air get caught in his throat.
His heart sped up, and suddenly everything seemed to slow down when a second figure appeared. This was him. This was Dream, oh god, George was so in love.
He could feel himself giggling and speaking, but he couldn't even process the words leaving his lips. All he could see was the light enveloping Dream's figure, giving him a subtle aura and George couldn't get his eyes off of him if his life depended on it.
After a few moments that felt like forever in George’s mind, Dream opened his arms, and George didn't need to be told twice before walking into them.
The next few minutes were a blur of excitement, the high of the moment controlling all three of the boys as they jumped around, hugging each other and finally being together. George knew that he was going to have to edit a lot of kisses from the vlog, but that was something he would gladly do a million times and a problem for later, not now.
That night, later had already passed, and George had counted exactly 9 kisses that had to be removed. He had finished editing the video, and was now waiting for the licenses for some of the songs so he could post it, but he didn't want to stay in his room anymore. Not when he could be with Dream and Sapnap anyways.
He made his way into the living room, being greeted by the image of Sapnap cuddled close to Dream, his head on the blond’s shoulder as they stared into the TV screen, watching a football game.
The brunet sat down next to them, on the other side of Dream. He was still new to being in his presence, but he absolutely loved it. He kept his eyes on the screen, trying his best to follow the game, but that proved to be harder than he thought it would be, as his eyes kept averting to the two boys cuddled up right next to him.
Suddenly, he felt an arm slide over his shoulders and pull him closer. The brunet’s shoulders tensed up, him still not being used to the casual touches and cuddles, and that it was something that could now happen at any time. It made George's heart skip a beat, a new wave of happiness coming over him. He could get used to this.
Unfortunately, he quickly snapped out of his thoughts, by the sudden disappearance of the weight on his shoulders and Dream's voice in his ear.
“Shit, I'm sorry, I didn't mean to make you uncomfortable, I should have asked.”
George's gaze quickly moved to Dream's face, a frown he wanted, no, needed to get out of there as soon as humanly possible. “Wait, Dream, it's okay, I like it!”
Dream's features softened up a bit at the comment, but George could tell that he was still not sure. He was proven to be right when Dream asked “Are you sure? You don't have to cuddle if you don't like it, we want you to be comfortable.”
George could feel his heart melt at the way Dream talked about him. He couldn't be more grateful to have partners like him and Sapnap, so caring for his boundaries and comfort.
“Yes Dream, I'm sure. It was just a little unexpected, but I like it. A lot actually.”
That seemed to be a good reassurance for Dream, and he looked over to George, while moving his hand close to him once again. With one last nod of encouragement from George, Dream, albeit still a little hesitant, wrapped his arm around him again.
“You know you can always tell us if you're uncomfortable with something we do, right?
George looked over to Sapnap, to find the boy already looking at him. He reached out to get a hold of his hand and interlock their fingers together.
“I know, Sap. I will.”
Enough seemed to have been said then, silence falling over the three boys, with the only sounds in the room being from the game they were watching.
It didn't take long after that for George to hear quiet snores from his left. He glanced in the direction of the sound, to find Sapnap's eyes closed, the boy sleeping with his mouth a bit open and using Dream's shoulder as a pillow.
He wanted to go get a blanket to cover the three of them, but the prospect of getting up seemed harder and harder with each passing second, the brunet finding his eyelids too heavy to stay open for long. Soon, he gave in to the feeling and let his eyes fall closed. The last thing he felt before falling asleep was a gentle kiss being placed on his head and Dream pulling him closer, so George could lay on his chest, then wrapping an arm around his back.
George awoke to find himself on the sofa, rays of sunshine passing through the window and hitting his face. He took his time to take in his surroundings, also taking in the fact that this was his first ever morning in the Dream Team home.
Speaking of, George could hear his boyfriends talking in the kitchen, not quite able to distinguish their words. The brunet got up and stretched, then began walking towards the kitchen. As he got closer however, the voices got quieter, until they completely stopped.
George pushed the door open, and was met by the sight of Dream and Sapnap looking right at him.
“Good morning. I heard you talking, is it anything important?”
He felt their gazes follow him, as he walked over to the sink and got a cup of water.
“No, don't worry. Just some plans, we gotta pack for TwitchCon soon.” There was a questioning note in Dream's voice, but George chose not to acknowledge it as he saw Sapnap nod in agreement.
“Yeah, we should probably start today actually, I don't want to have to pack last minute like I did when I came to England, that wasn't fun.”
“Yeah, I bet. Not like I told you to pack in advance a million times before that.”
George burst out laughing at the eye roll Sapnap gave to Dream. He then took a sip of his water before speaking up, “You think we can pack everything today, so we don't have to worry about it anymore?”
“Sure.”
Packing didn't turn out to be as bad as it had been back in the UK, George discovered. It may have been the fact that he didn't need to pack as much stuff as he had back then, but it was more likely the presence of Dream and Sapnap, and their help.
The three of them put everything together in around an hour and a half, and then decided to go watch tv to rest.
George and Sapnap had taken their places on the sofa, as they waited for Dream to bring some snacks. When the blond entered the room, George moved slightly away from Sapnap, so there could be a place for Dream between them.
What George wasn't expecting was for him to walk past him, and sit down on the other side of Sapnap, leaving a gap between them and George.
George's eyebrows furrowed in a gentle frown, as he awkwardly shuffled closer to them so he could at least reach the bowl of popcorn that was now placed in Sapnap’s lap. He felt an ounce of hurt settle in his heart as Sapnap reached out to hold Dream's hand, and his own one remained on his leg, untouched.
George did his best to not let it show, and act normal throughout the movie they watched — laughing whenever something funny happened, or one of his partners made a joke, making comments about the characters and story, but deep down he could feel his heart ache.
Okay, so something was definitely not right. George could tell that Dream and Sapnap were avoiding touching him, and he was doing his best to find out why. Had he done something wrong? Said something wrong? He had no clue. But it was getting harder and harder to watch them be affectionate together, while he was right next to them and all he got was an occasional kiss. It felt like he wasn’t even there at times. And it sucked.
Now it was one of these times. Their plane had just taken off, and they were on their way to San Diego. When the plane was taking off, Sapnap had become still and fidgety, and it didn't take a genius to see that he was scared. They had talked about this before, and knew that it was most likely going to happen, so both Dream and George had prepared to comfort him if it happened.
Dream had gotten a hold of his right hand, and Sapnap was clutching onto it with all his strength. His other hand was unoccupied, and when George intertwined their fingers together, he felt the other freeze.
George looked up to see what was wrong, but Sapnap didn't look scared, or upset anymore. He looked more confused than anything and the same feeling stirred up inside George.
What's up with them? George thought, but sadly, he didn't have a lot of time to think, as the plane shook up, and next thing George knew, Sapnap was clutching onto Dream with both his arms, shaking while the blond whispered soft reassurances into his ear.
George was once again left by himself, to the side. He tried to not think about it that way, this time Sapnap was scared and needed comfort, he had been living with Dream for much longer than with George, he was probably unconsciously seeking the familiarity of him.
Yeah, that's probably it. He probably doesn't feel as comfortable with as he is with him yet.
With that, George leaned over to the side, so his head was resting on the window. He watched the ground from above, counting the fields as he tried to not let his emotions get the best of him at that moment. They didn't need it, Sapnap didn't need it when he was already afraid.
They had to talk, but it could wait.
The next two days, the three of them had been so busy, meeting fans, doing meet and greets and panels, meeting all their other friends, some for the first time that George had forgotten about the conversation they needed to have. He was so happy with everyone around, so he thought that it could wait a bit more. At least until they were back in Florida.
That was, until it happened again.
They had just gotten back to their room, after a party. George’s cheek was still a bit red and sore from the slap Sapnap had given him earlier. To be fair, he did ask for it and he did get his payback after, so they were good. They were all laughing as they got back, George and Sapnap starting to sober up.
The plan they had made was to get back, change into their pajamas, then go to bed, so they could all get at least a bit of sleep before the next day began.
However, with them being them, and Sapnap deciding to throw a pillow right at George's face, they all forgot about their plan, in favor of having a pillow fight.
It didn't go on for long, all of them were pretty tired already, so it took no more than five minutes for them to stop, giggles and pants going past their lips as they lay down, trying to regain their breaths.
Dream was the first one to sit up, wanting to finally get in bed and sleep, and he couldn't do it without getting his boyfriends to move.
“Guys, let’s go to bed, I'm tired.” he pleaded.
Sapnap put a hand on his chin, pretending to think about it for a second. “Hmm, no, I don't want to.”
The blond sighed, realizing that it wasn't going to be as easy as he had thought. “Come on, Sap, I wanna sleep.”
“You're old, that's why you wanna sleep so much, isn't it?” Sapnap giggled.
“No, it's ‘cause I have to beat you two in that cooking competition tomorrow, so I need all the strength I can get, and you're blocking my way to the win.” Dream playfully fought back.
“Oh, I'm blocking your way? Move me then!”
Dream didn't need to be told twice, quickly grabbing Sapnap by the shoulders, and making him sit up, despite his protests.
George could feel himself zoning out as he watched the interaction. He felt a pang in his heart as he watched them laugh, Sapnap’s head falling back on Dream’s shoulder as the blond pulled him closer to himself. George looked at their interlocked hands, the way Sapnap’s hand fit perfectly into Dream’s. They looked so perfect, just them together, without him, and suddenly everything came right back to him and he couldn't keep it in any longer.
“Guys, what is happening?”
He watched them look up, their smiles falling, feeling the seriousness in George’s tone.
“What do you mean? I’m trying to move him away so we can go to bed.”
George shook his head, then proceeded to speak up again.
“No, I don't mean this. I'm talking about… this...” he motioned to the two of them, his eyes not moving from their hands, “and… this. ” his hands moved back to himself, and he awkwardly moved them around, before deciding to put them in his lap, in front of himself, so he could play with his fingers to distract himself.
“What do you mean? Did we do something wrong?”
George took a deep breath, as he thought how he should answer Sapnap’s question. Because on the one hand, they were kind of avoiding him, but on the other, he wouldn't want to force them to be affectionate with him. It was all so fucking confusing.
“I don't know.”
He watched as confusion took over both of their faces.
“Well, do you want to tell us what's wrong? We don't want you to feel bad, we'll do our best to help however we can.”
It took George a few seconds of staring into his hands before he took a deep breath and spoke up.
“It's just that… ever since I got here, you've both been so… distant from me. It was fine the first night, but then you kind of started avoiding touching me and I’ve had to watch you be all cuddly with one another, while I was alone to the side. Was… am I not what you expected?”
George felt his voice waver at the end, and he fought back the tears he could feel gathering in his eyes. He couldn't bear to look up and meet their eyes. What if this was it? What if they wanted to leave him?
His train of thoughts got interrupted by a hand grabbing his shoulder, and before he could do or say anything, he was pulled close to Dream.
“George, I-... of course not. You're absolutely perfect, I just… I thought you didn't want… this.”
This was emphasized by Dream squeezing him closer.
“We thought… we thought you didn't like it when we touched you, and we didn't want to make you uncomfortable.”
Dream's hand was going through George's hair, gently playing with it, and it was getting harder and harder for George to keep his composure.
“But… I told you the first night that if I was uncomfortable I'd tell you. Why did you still do it?”
“We…we talked about it the next morning, we thought you were just doing it to make us happy. This sounds so stupid right now, we should have just listened to you. We're so sorry.”
George looked at Sapnap, the younger wearing a sad, apologetic pout on his face. He looked like he was on the verge of tears as well.
“Yeah, you should have just listened to me. I know you don't want to hurt me, and I really appreciate it, but I know what's good for me. Please don't do this again.”
“I promise we won't.”
“How can we make it up to you?”
George didn't even need to think before looking at Sapnap. “Just come here as well.”
Sapnap didn't have to be told twice, immediately enveloping George in a hug as well, and beginning to leave small kisses on his neck and hair.
It all felt heavenly — Dream's hand in his hair, Sapnap kissing him, while George was in both their arms. It felt so good, but it was still unfamiliar to George, even after half a month with them. And it finally dawned on him how much of this had been missed.
A harsh sob racked through George's body, the boy finally letting out the tears he had been holding. Dream and Sapnap both tensed up for a second, before they relaxed again, pulling George even closer, so he was practically sandwiched between them.
They let him let it all out, while they whispered soft loving words to him.
Eventually, the sobs died down, reduced to occasional sniffles, until they stopped as well. Dream and Sapnap could tell how tired out George was, and they gently moved him, so that he was clutching onto Dream, and burying his face in his chest, while Sapnap was curled over his back, his arms wrapped around George's waist.
They were all on the verge of falling asleep, when George whispered, barely audible.
“I love you.”
He was met with the mix of “love you too” and “love you both.”
Sapnap left a soft peck on George's neck, then found one of his hands to hold, and they all drifted off to sleep.
Waking up with Dream and Sapnap was definitely something George could easily get used to.
That's what he figured out when upon opening his eyes he saw Dream, his eyes still closed and his lips slightly parted. The next thing he saw was his own hand, intertwined with another one, that went on behind him, and when he turned around he saw Sapnap’s sleepy face practically lighting up when he saw that George was awake.
“Good morning, love. Did you sleep well?”
“Yeah. The best I have in a while.”
“Mm, I'm glad.”
Their conversation was interrupted by movement from behind George, and suddenly, an arm was thrown over his waist and he could feel Dream's breath on his neck. “Sh’t up, I wanna sleep.”
George couldn't resist the soft smile that appeared on his lips, and he felt warmth and love he hadn't felt ever since he first met the two boys in person.
Yeah, he could definitely get used to this.
