Chapter Text
Wednesday stared at the open arms of her roommate, contemplating giving in to the very request she had doggedly denied all year long. She hated being touched, despised it even, but Enid had been making her feel a lot of things she had done her best to never give in to recently and she found herself not hating them as much as she used to.
Perhaps this would be similar.
She took a step forward, eyes wide open to catch every moment of Enid's face lighting up, the werewolf's delight at finally seeing Wednesday approach her instead of flinch away clear for all to see. Wednesday had always noticed how attractive Enid was, from that very first meeting, but right now, after having watched her roommate fight off a hyde for her? With scratches marring her body, blood dripping from her hair, and the biggest smile Wednesday had ever seen splitting her face?
She had never seen a sight so beautiful as the one in front of her.
Another step, and then a third, Enid matching her step for step. They were so close right now, not even a full foot away from each other. Wednesday paused for a moment and craned her neck up to look at the taller girl's face. When had Enid gotten so tall? Was it a side effect of her recent transformation? Wednesday didn't have more than a split second to continue pondering over such a dramatic change before Enid took the opening she was presented with and struck, scooping Wednesday up into her arms and squeezing her for all she was worth.
Wednesday found herself without the ability to fight off the sudden attack, arms trapped to her side and face shoved into the werewolf's neck. She struggled briefly, thinking of the other students who would be witnessing this humiliation, but the moment she took a breath all fight left her body. Enid smelled divine. Blood and cinnamon filled her senses completely, erasing any lingering traces of irritation that resulted from her current predicament.
Fragments of a memory from years ago swirled around Wednesday's mind as she took in several deep breaths of Enid's scent, her mother sitting her down to have a chat about an important topic. What was it, something about being extra careful around alphas? She couldn't quite remember the specifics, not with Enid invading her so completely. What did it matter anyway? Enid would never harm her.
The hug was beginning to get uncomfortably warm, the heat radiating off Enid and into Wednesday entirely unnatural, and the werewolf nosing the base of her neck so aggressively didn't help matters. Was that Yoko she heard yelling in the background? It was so hard to focus, Wednesday had never felt so warm in her life, too used to frigid nights in the woods and cold steel against her palms. Hands suddenly gripped the both of them, accompanied by even more indecipherable yelling. They were trying to pull the two of them apart, but they didn't make any significant progress before a loud growl burst out of Enid, spawning a shiver that traveled throughout her body.
Enid's growl was sufficient enough warning for whoever was attempting to pull them apart, and the hands retreated as if burned. The yelling promptly disappeared as well, replaced by pleading whispers, a constant "don't do it" with mentions of Enid's name sprinkled throughout. The pleading got louder as something wet and broad replaces the nose on her neck, dragging along her skin briefly. A tongue, perhaps? Wednesday attempted to pull away to see if she was correct, the fog over her thoughts lifting from the sheer bewilderment she felt at potentially being licked, but she was pulled back in before she could move more than an inch.
Wednesday opened her mouth to speak but a sudden spike of pain gripped her, filling the void left behind by hot breaths on her neck and leaving her paralyzed in Enid's arms. Everything around her disappeared as something settled in her chest, a sense of rightness pervading throughout her body, as though she'd finally found her proper place in the world. Harsh gasps and short pants were all Wednesday had left as the realization of what had just happened came into focus.
Enid had bitten her, claiming Wednesday as her mate for all to see, and she wasn't sure how to feel about the new development. She wanted to be angry, could feel the righteous fury bubbling beneath her skin, but there was no release. Try as she might nothing seemed to come of it, so she let it go, falling limp in Enid's grasp and taking deep breaths to calm herself down.
She was absolutely mortified with what had just happened, being claimed in such a manner and her reaction to Enid's scent both. She might not be able to react with anger, whether because the claim itself was discouraging such an action Wednesday could only speculate, but she wasn't going to just take this lying down. She made her decision.
She bit back.
