“Have you told anyone else?”

You heard your little brother Dustin talking to someone as he ran through your family home.

“Shit shit shit shit shit.”

He muttered.

“Dustin!” You called out as you headed out of your room. “What the hell is going on? Oh, hey Max.” You greeted yours and Dustin's redheaded friend.

“Hey.” She said back to you.

“Can’t explain now sis we gotta go. Can you drive? We’ll explain in the car.” Dustin said frantically as he headed for the door.

He didn’t even give you time to answer. You rolled your eyes but followed him anyway. You were used to this and used to Dustin suddenly announcing that you had to go somewhere.

“So where we headed?” You asked when you were all in the car.

“Family Video. I need to borrow the computer and the phones.” Dustin said.

“Okay.” You said slowly. “Now do you wanna tell me what’s going on?”

There had been news reports all day about a dead student from Hawkins High. It was revealed that it was Chrissy Cunningham who was the cheerleader queen of the school. Dustin and Max explained that the main suspect of her murder was Eddie Munson.

Eddie Munson was a metalhead and known for being the ‘freak’ of Hawkins. You’d never met him, you couldn’t say that you remembered him from when you were at school either but Dustin had become really good friends with him.

Dustin knew that he was innocent and he was determined to find him before the police did. You and your brother had always trusted each other. From all the things that he’d told you, you knew deep down that Eddie was innocent too.

You arrived at Family Video where your other friends Robin and Steve worked. You and Max filled them in on what was happening whilst Dustin started calling around trying to find Eddie.

After a while you finally had a lead. Eddie sometimes hung around at his dealer’s place so it was likely that he would be there.

The five of you made your way there as quickly as you could.

After establishing that no one was in the house, you checked the boathouse that was there. Everything seemed quiet inside.

Steve decided it would be a good idea to start poking around on top of the tarp that was covering the boat. He was halfway through a sentence when suddenly, a very scared and angry looking metalhead jumped out from under the tarp and rammed Steve up against the nearest wall. He had a glass bottle held to his throat.

You all started to panic until Dustin started shouting.

“Eddie! It’s me, it’s Dustin. This is Steve. He’s not gonna hurt you. Right Steve?” Dustin said as you, Max and Robin held back.

“Right, yeah.” Steve nodded frantically.

“Steve, why don’t you drop the oar.” Dustin said as Steve dropped it. “He’s cool! He’s cool!”

“Yeah I’m cool.” Steve said.

“What are you doing here?” Eddie asked without taking his eyes off of Steve.

“We’re looking for you.” Dustin replied.

“We’re here to help.” Robin said as she walked forward a little.

“Eddie, these are my friends. You know Robin, from band. This is my friend Max, the one who never wants to play D&D. And this is my sister. The one I’m always telling you about.” Dustin introduced you all and Eddie flicked his gaze across you all. You smiled nervously at him. “Eddie, we’re on your side. I swear on my mother! Right? Guys?”

“Yes, yes we swear.” Max said quickly.

“On Dustin’s mother.” Robin nodded.

“Yeah on Dustin’s, Dustin’s mother.” Steve said in a shaky voice as the bottle was still against his face.

“On our mother.” You said and Eddie looked at you again. He finally let go of Steve and slumped down onto the floor.

“Eddie, we just want to talk.” Dustin said as he knelt down in front of him. “Okay.” He said as Eddie flinched when he tried to take the bottle from him.

“We wanna know what happened.” Robin said softly as she knelt down next to Dustin.

“You won’t believe me.” Eddie answered with tears in his eyes. Your heart broke for him.

“Try us.” Max said.

Eddie explained what had happened to Chrissy. You all listened patiently as he said that she had started floating up into the air and her bones had started to snap. Her eyes had then been pulled back into her skull.

Eddie didn’t believe you all at first when you said that you believed him.

Dustin looked at you, almost like he was seeking your approval.

“Tell him.” You nodded. “He’s seen enough already.”

Eddie looked a little confused before Dustin started speaking. “Look, what I’m about to tell you might be a little ... difficult to take.”

“Okay.” Eddie said.

“You know how people say Hawkins is cursed? They’re not, way off.”

You and the rest of the group then told Eddie all about your eventful lives over the last three years. You told him about how Hawkins was a gateway to another world and about all the monsters and supernatural things you’ve faced together.

Eddie took it quite well. Probably because he didn’t feel crazy anymore because of what he saw.

“We gotta go but just stay here and stay low. We’ll be back tomorrow to check on you.” Dustin said afterwards.

“I’ll stay with him.” You suddenly said and five pairs of eyes stared back at you.

“Is that a good idea?” Steve said in a concerned voice.

“We can’t leave him alone. What if someone finds him?” You argued.

“You don’t know him.” Steve said.

“I know enough.” You answered.

“I think it’s a great idea.” Dustin said quickly. “Be careful though. See you both tomorrow.” And with that he took off again like he always did. Very quickly.

Max and Robin followed him but Steve held back. “Are you sure?” He asked you.

“Positive. You know you can trust my judgement.” You said with your arms folded defensively.

“Okay. Be careful and stay safe.” Steve said as he left you.

“Always.” You smiled.

Once the others had left, you suddenly felt really nervous.

The truth was, you actually had a really huge crush on Eddie Munson.

You’d never admitted that to anyone because you hadn’t met him until now but the way that Dustin had talked about him over the last few months, it was hard not to fall for him.

He had sounded perfect. A metalhead, a huge nerd, he was in his own band, personality to die for and more importantly, he’d looked after Dustin which meant a lot to you. He was everything that you dreamed of in a boyfriend. It didn’t matter that you hadn’t seen him. You already loved the sound of him.

When you saw him burst out from under the tarp and attack Steve, that was the first time you had seen him. Even though the circumstances hadn’t been right, you couldn’t help but take in his appearance.

God he was cute. Looks weren’t everything to you. You’d proved that since you already liked him before meeting him but it was definitely an added bonus.

Now you were alone with him. Your heart started to beat fast.

“Erm, hi.” Eddie said awkwardly.

“Hi.” You smiled as you introduced yourself properly. “I know we haven’t exactly met under the best circumstances.”

“You got that right.” Eddie said as he sat down.

You smiled nervously as you sat down too.

“So ... Hawkins has gateways to another world? How did you end up getting dragged into all of this?” Eddie asked you.

You laughed as you told him your story. Obviously you’d been dragged into it because of Dustin when his best friend Will had gone missing three years before.

The conversation just flowed after that. You talked for what felt like hours. He really was so easy to talk to. He seemed to relax too whilst you were talking and he made you laugh so much that your face hurt. It just made you fall so much deeper for him.

“Can I ask you something Henderson?” Eddie asked you.

“Of course.” You replied.

“Why did you offer to stay with me? Harrington was right, you don’t know me really. But yet you wanted to stay. I was just curious why?”

You took a deep breath before answering. "You mean a lot to Dustin. I guess I feel like I kinda owe you one." Eddie frowned slightly as you paused. You continued to explain. "My whole life I've tried to protect him. I mean, I ended up getting dragged into all of this supernatural stuff year after year because I was trying to protect him." You laughed. "But in high school, I obviously couldn't look after him. I remember how brutal it was when I was there. When Dustin first started he seemed so sad all the time. I knew he was probably getting picked on and I couldn't do anything about it. It made me feel angry and helpless. Then suddenly one day, he came home his usual happy self. He started telling me all about this really cool guy called Eddie and about his D&D club. He was super excited to be a member of the so-called Hellfire Club." You paused again as you met Eddie's eyes. "You took him under your wing and made him feel safe. He could continue to be himself because of you. You helped him and protected him when I couldn't. He means the world to me and you mean the world to him. Now I can repay you by trying to protect you. I know I haven't known you for very long but I know enough to know that you're a decent guy. So yeah, that's why I'm here. That's why I stayed." You finished and Eddie was staring at you with surprise written all over his face.

He smiled at you.

"Well I appreciate it. You know, he told me a lot about you. Painted this really awesome picture of his badass sister in my mind. I think the little shrimp has been secretly trying to set us up with each other." Eddie laughed.

You laughed back. "I think you're right. He would tell me about you all the time. He made it sound like you were my perfect dream guy that I'd made-up in my head." You paused as you looked at him again. "I just didn't think that when I actually met you, that would have been so accurate."

Eddie's eyes grew again at your compliment. "Yeah, well ..." He rubbed his face like he was trying to find the right words. "That's exactly how I felt when I first saw you. I know I was scared and had a bottle held to your friend’s face but I still noticed you. How could I not? You're just the perfect embodiment of my dream girl." You smiled but he continued. "I didn't mean for that to sound shallow. I’m not saying that I like you just because you’re attractive. I liked you before I met you, before I even knew what you looked like. As crazy as that sounds.”

Your breath caught in your throat.

He feels the same way!

“No I completely get it. I feel the same about you. Dustin would big you up so much and tell me all these awesome things about you. We sound a lot alike. It was kinda easy to fall for you.” You laughed.

Anyone listening to the two of you would think you were both crazy. Falling for each other when you’d only just met. But the way Dustin talked about him, you really did feel like you’d known him forever.

“I just wish we’d met under better circumstances.” Eddie said sadly.

“Yeah I know. But at least you’re already clued up with the crazy shit that happens in Hawkins. That would have made a hell of a first date if I’d have had to explain all that.” You laughed again.

Eddie laughed too. It was genuine and so lovely to see. His smile made your heart beat a little too fast in your chest. It was the best smile you had ever seen.

“We should probably try and get some sleep. The group will probably be back in the morning after they’ve done a food run for you.” You said.

“They’d do that for me?” Eddie looked surprised again.

“Of course. Like it or not, you’re one of us now Munson.” You grinned as you stood up. “Do you think there’s enough room under the tarp for two? We could sleep top and tail maybe.”

“Yeah we should both be able to fit under there. Let’s see.” Eddie answered as he got back in the boat that he had jumped out of earlier. “Plenty of room, but ... you can sleep next to me normally if you want? Sorry if that’s too forward! I just ... erm ... well ...”

“Just say what’s on your mind Eddie.” You said gently.

“I really like you. And ... well ... it’s been a really shitty couple of days and I just think it’d be kinda nice if we ... ya know? Cuddled ... maybe.” Eddie’s face was so red that you were worried he’d self-combust.

You giggled slightly. It was adorable to see him get so embarrassed. “Of course I don’t mind that. I really like you too. And I think you definitely deserve a hug after everything that’s happened.”

You climbed into the boat next to him. You let him lay down first so that you could position yourself next to him after.

“How do you want to do this?” You asked, suddenly feeling a little shy.

“Would you mind ... turning around?” Eddie asked slowly.

You smiled as you managed to shift yourself so that your back was against his front.

“Please tell me if I’m being too forward. I wouldn’t normally be like this. I mean I’m fairly confident usually but not this outgoing when I first talk to a girl.” Eddie started babbling.

“Eddie it’s fine. These aren’t exactly normal circumstances and it's not like I don’t know you at all. I know enough from Dustin. I trust his judgement just like he trusts mine.” You answered.

Eddie slowly lifted his arm and put it around your waist. “Is this okay?” He asked you.

You answered him by snuggling further back against him.

“This is nice.” He said against your head. “Just being able to hold someone in this situation. Even better that you’re the one I’m holding.”

You smiled again as you put your hand over his. “I’m not going anywhere Eddie.”

You thought you would be extremely uncomfortable sleeping in that boat but being in the arms of Eddie, well, it didn’t take long before the two of you had drifted off to sleep.

You felt him shift abruptly against you a few hours later. You had just started to open your eyes as he whipped the tarp off of you both.

“Eddie ... what?” You mumbled sleepily.

“Shh, someone’s outside.” Eddie whispered as he crept to the window to take a look.

The door suddenly flung open and you jumped up too.

Your shock was died down very quickly as your brother and the gang walked in.

“Delivery service.” Dustin smiled as he held up some bags.

“Told you they’d be back.” You smiled at Eddie who was sighing with relief also.

The group then confirmed what you had all feared. That the police were after Eddie because they were convinced he’d killed Chrissy.

Eddie and Dustin had come to the conclusion the night before that Chrissy had been under a spell. The person or thing that they thought was responsible was called Vecna. A powerful wizard. The group then explained that you just had to find Vecna and stop him.

Obviously it wouldn’t be that easy.

You then heard police sirens in the distance. Eddie had sat back in the boat next to you before that and you both dived back under the tarp again.

The others left you to go and find out what was happening.

They didn’t come back for the rest of the day.

You stayed with Eddie the whole time in the boathouse that day. You couldn’t deny that a part of it was actually quite nice since you were able to talk and get to know each other more.

You had plenty of food too thanks to the guys.

“I really should have gone home for a shower.” You grumbled as night rolled in again. “I didn’t want to risk leaving you though.”

“Trust me sweetheart, you can’t smell any worse than I do right now.” Eddie laughed. “But a shower would be amazing.”

“Let’s try and get some sleep. Hopefully tomorrow we can move you out of here.” You said.

“We could try and go into Reefer Rick’s house if there’s no cops about. We could use his shower.” Eddie said.

Reefer Rick was Eddie’s drug supplier and that’s whose place he was hiding out in since he was hardly ever home.

“Yeah we’ll see what tomorrow brings.” You said as you tried to get comfy again in the boat.

“Hey, sweetheart?” Eddie said softly.

“Yeah?” You mumbled.

“I really appreciate you doing this for me. Staying with me. It’s honestly so much more than I deserve.”

“Stop talking crazy Munson. I wanted to help you.” You said as you turned over to look at him.

“Well ... how about when all this is over I take you on a real date? One where we don’t have to hide.” Eddie smiled nervously.

“You’d really want to date me?” You asked as your face lit up with a huge smile.

“Of course I would. These last few days have been really batshit crazy and I’ve never been so scared in my life. But you being here and talking to me, keeping me company, it’s almost made it all worth it. I would really love to take you on a date. I’d love for you to be my girlfriend.” Eddie almost sounded shy now. You weren’t used to that. He was usually so confident.

“I’d love nothing more than to be your girlfriend Eddie Munson.” You squealed in happiness as you put both of your hands on either side of his face and kissed him quickly.

You hadn’t even thought about what you had just done. You were so happy that you just did it. Your eyes grew wide as you pulled away.

“I’m so sorry! I shouldn’t have done that. It was too soon I just got ... caught up in the moment. Shit.” You babbled.

Eddie put his hand out and took one of yours. “Shh sweetheart. It’s fine.” He smiled down at you. “I wasn’t expecting it but it was definitely a welcome surprise.”

“I was just so happy. You’re such an amazing guy.” You said shyly.

“A lot would disagree with you there.” Eddie said with a smirk.

“Well screw what everyone else thinks.” You said fiercely.

Eddie laughed and bit his lip at you. You couldn’t help but stare into his gorgeous brown eyes.

You swear that you could drown in those eyes and die a happy woman.

Eddie stared back at you but you noticed that his eyes kept flicking to your lips.

You smiled again and Eddie leaned in towards you.

You moaned softly as his mouth touched yours. He took his time with you, almost like he was checking that this was all okay without breaking the kiss.

As you were walking through the woods, the boys were a little ahead of you. You could just make out what they were saying.

“I’m sorry we didn’t come back sooner. So much has been going on.” You heard Dustin say.

“Hey it’s fine man, you guys have done more than enough for me. Your sister has been amazing too.” Eddie replied and you smiled. They had no idea that you were listening.

There was a long pause. You started to worry that Dustin would freak out.

“I think ...” Dustin started. “ ... that you’re exactly what she needs.” You heard the smile in his voice. “She’s done so much for me over the years. Literally. Helping me and the guys with all this supernatural stuff, teaching me most of the nerdy things I know about, watching out for me. She’s been the best big sis that anyone could ask for. I always hoped she’d find someone amazing but no one ever measured up. She’s incredible and she deserves someone equally incredible. I think the world of you too man and I think you kinda guessed that I always thought the two of you would be great together. Honestly this is the best news I’ve had in the last few days.” Dustin laughed happily.

“I’m so glad you’re cool with this dude. I just didn’t want it to make things awkward between us in any way.” Eddie answered.

“Never. But if you break her heart, I’ll kill you.”

You smiled at your brother’s protectiveness.

“I would never hurt her. She’s amazing and way too good for me. I don’t know how I got so lucky.” Eddie sighed.

You smiled listening to the boys talk.

Dustin ran on ahead and you caught up to Eddie.

“So I guess we’re officially dating now?” You smiled.

“You heard all that?” Eddie said.

“Yeah. I thought it was sweet that you asked him permission.”

“Well, I actually care what the little shrimp thinks.” Eddie smiled back at you. “You think you can put up with me being a wanted criminal for a while longer sweetheart?”

“Don’t worry Munson, no matter what happens ...” You started as you put your arm around his waist and he pulled you closer to him.

“... I’ll be there.”
