Chapter Text
First thing Kaoru noticed when he landed in Okinawa was that the weather wasn’t pleasantly warm like his parents had claimed but so hot he was certain he would melt if he stayed in the terminal for even a second longer. The second thing he noticed was that he was starving since the three cups of coffee he drowned in the morning didn’t do much to fill his stomach.
And the best thing of all was that his flight was early—the omega had no idea how his flight even managed that—and his parents weren’t coming to pick him up for another hour or so.
Kaoru was an adult, he was a rich adult, so he could’ve called a taxi and surprised his mom and dad, but because he was feeling like shit the thought didn’t even enter his mind. And even if it had, Kaoru most likely wouldn’t have called a taxi. Since he was an omega, his mother had taught him not to get into cars with strangers. Not even if it was their job.
’You’re here because your parents asked you to come see them’, the calligrapher reminded himself as soon as the thought of booking a flight back to Tokyo entered his mind.
He was already anxious enough as he was. He had work to do at home. He had clients to meet and a studio to manage. Yet here he was, in Okinawa of all places because his parents wanted to live here since their son was old enough to manage himself.
Kaoru got their penthouse back in Tokyo after they moved away so it had it perks, he supposed. However, the lack of food in his fridge because he didn’t know how to cook made him accept the week-long holiday at his parents’s. (He was so done with instant ramen and would give anything for his mother’s cooking at this point. A week away meant nothing.)
Kaoru sighed and walked out of the terminal with his purple suitcase in the hope that it would be even a little colder outside. Spoiler alert: he was wrong.
If it had been hot inside the building, it was outright burning outside. ”Carla, tell me my parents are on the way”, Kaoru pleaded, feeling done with the small island already. He wanted back to Tokyo and into his apartment with an AC. With a heavenly AC.
”There’s still approximately forty-seven minutes until parents will arrive”, Carla informed.
Kaoru glared at the nearby car because he didn’t want to glare at his beloved AI. He certainly was’t about to spend forty-seven minutes without an AC. His body was burning and it had nothing to do with his biology. This would be the first and the last time he was going to visit this hellish island during summer.
Kaoru nearly jumped in the air when the car next to him honked. He turned towards the vehicle and saw a green haired alpha with an ugly and open Hawaiian shirt behind the wheel. He had the window rolled down and his elbow was popped up against a door. Kaoru tried his best not to stare at his toned muscles.
”Need a ride?” The guy asked with a grin.
”What are you?” Kaoru scoffed. ”A chauffeur?”
He tried not to appear nervous since a strange alpha was speaking with him in an unfamiliar place despite the fact Kaoru was quite certain the scent blockers he was wearing didn’t let even a fragment of his scent to seep into the air.
”No”, the green haired man said casually. ”I’m Kojiro”, he winked.
Kaoru looked at Kojiro with and unimpressed look and turned to walk along the curb. He was not here to flirt with hot alpha’s. He was here to visit his parents and hopefully not get abducted in the first thirty minutes he had been on the island.
The car slowly drove by his side. Kaoru turned to glare.
”Com’ on!” Kojiro said, throwing his arm in the air. ”You looked lost, city boy. I just wanted to help.”
’And flirting is helping?’ Kaoru wondered before sighing and turning to the one behind the wheel. The car halted.
”And why would I ever get in the car with you? I don’t know you!” Kaoru said. Since he was a ’city boy’ and an omega, he knew better than to get into a car with a stranger, especially when the said stranger was an alpha, no matter how harmless they looked.
”But you do know me”, Kojiro noted. He extended his hand and flashed a billion yen smile to Kaoru. ”Nanjo Kojiro. Nice to meet you!”
Kaoru raised his brow and looked at the hand in front of him like it was filled with spikes. ”Why would you offer me a ride? You don’t even know who I am.” If the man didn’t have a good reason Kaoru would run. He didn’t pick even a hint of a lie in the other’s scent but he wasn’t taking any risks.
The alpha smiled, leaning against his hand that had been extended. ”You’re a pretty tourist. Do I need any more of a reason to offer you a ride?” The look on his face said he was offering a lot more than just a ride. The guy was flirting, shamelessly so, and Kaoru couldn’t tell if he was actually interested or just a creep.
Kaoru decided to change tactics. "Why would you even want to give me, a total stranger, a ride?"
"You’re a pretty tourist", the guy said again. "That’s why."
Kaoru stared, wondering who he had provoked in his previous life to deserve this. ”So you just sit at the parking lot waiting for a ’pretty tourist’ to show up, so you can give them a ride?” The pink haired man asked. This man sounded and seemed too suspicious. A hundred alarm bells were going off in Kaoru’s head.
”Of course not! I drove my sister here and happened to spot you. And people are nice around here", Kojiro told. "So? Wanna hop on or would you rather continue to glare at the cars looking lost, pinky?”
Kaoru pondered his options. He could wait and sweat through his kimono while starving to death or he could get into this stranger alpha’s car and get a drive to-
”How would you even know I’m going to the same place as you are?” Kaoru asked, narrowing his eyes and feeling extremely skeptical.
”So you’re considering my offer?” Kojiro asked happily, a grin on his face. ”And you look like a Sakurayashiki so I supposed you’d be going to their’s.”
Kaoru froze. Oh, okay… SO THIS GUY KNEW HIS FUCKING PARENTS!??? And he knew where they lived?????
Kaoru’s eyebrow switched and he glared into ruby eyes. ”So you know my parents? You know where they live?”
”Well, I don’t know where they live exactly”, Kojiro marked, his eyes ranking over Kaoru like he was committed to memorizing the omega after learning Kaoru was a Sakurayashiki. ”But they come to my restaurant quite often and they always walk so they can’t live that far away”, Kojiro shrugged like it was the most simple thing.
Damn Kaoru and his mother and their recognizable cherry-pink hair.
So, Kaoru had two options. He could stay here while he burned and starved to death or he could get into Kojiro’s car who apparently knew his parents because they ate in his restaurant and he knew them well enough to know their name. And that they had a son.
The answer was obvious but the pink haired man was stubborn to a fault.
”So? You coming in or not?” Kojiro asked.
Kaoru sighed and moved to put his suitcase in the back. He made a show about rounding the car and opening the door before slumping onto the shotgun.
A thousand alarm bells were still going off in his head and his anxiety was telling him the alpha only knew his parents because he had planned out abducting him—but then again, there was no way to know Kaoru was going to be in this airport, exactly at this time. There was no way of planning this all out.
Kojiro smiled to him and started the car, and somehow, Kaoru’s anxiety melted away a little.
.•° ✿ °•.
Five minutes into the ride and Kojiro was acting like they had known each other since kindergarten. Granted, it made Kaoru feel more comfortable with the strange alpha, but he wasn’t planning on be-friending the guy.
”So you’re the ’son’ Sakurayashiki-san has been talking about all the time”, Kojiro said, glancing briefly at the omega.
”It’s weird when you talk about my mom”, Kaoru stated. It couldn’t have been his father. The alpha wouldn’t certainly talk about him all the time. That was his mother’s job. ”You know them and apparently me, but I don’t know you”, Kaoru reminded once again.
The car was an old one so the doors didn’t lock automatically and Kojiro had done nothing to make Kaoru feel trapped. He still had his phone and Carla so even if something happened, Kaoru would be just fine. He also was a pretty good kicker if it came to that.
”Our moms were best friends in high school. Or so I’ve heard”, Kojiro told and Kaoru’s brows rose. ”Then your mom moved to Tokyo for college and found herself Sakurayashiki-sama to marry so she stayed there. They moved here a few years ago and mom hasn’t shut up about it since.”
Kaoru narrowed his eyes. He had never heard about anyone Nanjo but all the other details matched. ”Is Nanjo your father’s name?” Kaoru asked, feeling the need to know more.
”Yup”, Kojiro said, still smiling.
Kaoru nodded, turning to look out of the window. He had heard stuff about his mom’s old best friend but nothing much. The omega’s mother had lived in Okinawa for nineteen years before moving to Tokyo and meeting his father. That was nearly thirty years ago, though.
”You know, I still don’t know your name”, Kojiro remarked at some point. He quickly glanced towards Kaoru before turning his eyes back to the road.
Kaoru huffed. ”I thought mother had already made you aware of it.”
Kojiro chuckled. He was too happy for Kaoru’s liking—though he could see why his mother would like the man. ”Mostly what I’ve heard is: ’He’s already a calligraphy-sensei! I could have never imagined that rebellious punk turning into a sensei! He’s grown so much!!’”
Kaoru sunk lower into his seat. That was his mom, alright. He, however, felt bitter because this Kojiro guy knew all too much about him and the omega knew absolutely nothing about the alpha besides his name and the fact he had a restaurant and a sister.
”You know”, Kojiro started, still finding things to talk about. ”When I first learned she had a son I thought about something entirely different.”
Kaoru raised his brow. ”Oh? And what did you think? That I was some bearded tiny man with horrible haircut? Or that I was an alpha?”
”No. I just- I didn’t think you’d be so beautiful”, the green haired man said, still shameless flirting.
And Kaoru hated himself because he blushed. He had heard the same comment a thousand times already but apparently he was immune only when it came from men twice his age.
”Carla”, Kaoru said suddenly and Kojiro turned to him with a frown.
”Yes, Master?” His purple bracelet answered and the green haired man stared, his eyes wide, until he remembered the road he was riding on.
”Text father that he doesn’t need to pick me up since my flight was early and I have a ride”, Kaoru commanded.
”Yes, Master! Texting ’father’”, Carla answered, dutiful as always.
”Thank you, Carla”, Kaoru said happily to his little AI. Kojiro gave him a weird look. ”What?” The calligrapher asked.
”Nothing”, the alpha mumbled. Then, "So you got a robot or something? What is it? A fancy version of Siri-"
”She’s not a robot!” Kaoru gasped. ”Her name is Carla and she’s an artificial intelligence! And don’t insult her like that! Calling her Siri”, Kaoru scoffed. "She’s so much better than that wanna-be assistant." The omega had never felt as offended in his life before. Think that someone would dare to call his dear Carla Siri. Unbelievable.
Kojiro blinked. ”Woah. Didn’t mean to offend you-”
”Not me, gorilla! Carla! If you feel sorry you can apologize to her”, Kaoru said, crossing his arms over his chest. He was offended but Carla was the one deserving apologizes.
Kojiro didn’t seem weirded out, at least. He seemed amused. ”Oh, okay then. I’m so sorry if I offended your feelings, Carla. You see, I didn’t know your name—” He threw a pointed look at Kaoru. ”—so I accidentally called you Siri.”
”Apology accepted, gorilla”, Carla answered. The green haired man looked baffled and Kaoru had to cover his face with his fan to hide his amused snicker.
”Okay, woah”, Kojiro said, clearly impressed by Carla—as he should be. "Where’d you get that?"
”Her”, Kaoru corrected. "And I didn’t get her anywhere. I made her.”
Kojiro blinked, looking like he was waiting for Kaoru to reveal he was joking. ”Wait- seriously? You made tha- her?”
Kaoru nodded, proud of himself. He may be an omega but he was more than just successful.
”So… does Carla have a mister, or mistress, or is she still single?” Kojiro asked, clearly trying to keep himself from laughing.
”If you try to flirt with my AI, I swear I will skin you alive and dance on your grave”, Kaoru said, his eyes flat.
Kojiro started to laugh. ”Okay, okay. Chill. So she’s your wife then?”
Kaoru slapped Kojiro’s arm with his fan while scolding him but the man just laughed harder. Kaoru found himself smiling too.
.•° ✿ °•.
Rest of the ride went surprisingly fast.
When the car finally came into a stop Kaoru was officially wed to Carla and named princess, after which he named Kojiro: Sir. Gorilla the oaf of idiots.
Kaoru realized they were in front of an Italian restaurant. Sia la Luce, huh.
”I can drop you to your parents house if you just tell me the address, or you could walk. Whatever you like better”, Kojiro said, not killing the engine just yet.
Kaoru would admit that Kojiro wasn’t that bad, and maybe even consider him an acquaintance, but the pink haired man still wasn’t about to direct the alpha to his parent’s house. The man was still an alpha, after all.
”I’ll walk”, the omega said with a small smile.
”’Kay!” Kojiro said happily, finally fully stopping the car before climbing out of it. ”I’ll get your suitcase.”
Kaoru nodded and climbed out of the car after Kojiro. He stood by the door as Kojiro rounded the vehicle and gave the purple suitcase to him.
”Thank you”, Kaoru said.
”No problem! Well, see you around…” the green haired man stopped, furrowing his brows as he realized he still didn’t know Kaoru’s name.
The alpha leaned closer, using the fact Kaoru was now trapped between him and the car for his own good. ”I still don’t know your name, princess”, he breathed.
And now that he was close Kaoru realized just how tall he was. Kaoru was tall himself despite being an omega but Kojiro was even taller, towering few inches over his head. The pink haired man fought to have his golden eyes clued to Kojiro’s ruby ones so they wouldn’t slip down to where the taller man’s—still ugly—Hawaiian shirt was hanging open over his torso and revealing sinful abs.
”And?” Kaoru asked, not even realizing his throat had gone dry.
”And…” Kojiro leaned even closer, his breath ghosting against Kaoru’s temple. ”I don’t think I can keep calling you beautiful.”
The calligrapher raised his hand to push the green haired man away but when the skin of his hand met Kojiro’s bare chest—which was sweaty and fucking amazing—Kaoru forgot what he was going to do. He glanced down to his hand before raising his eyes back to the alpha’s.
Kojiro was smirking and Kaoru could’ve sworn the man had been staring at his lips just now.
Kaoru gulped. ”I- I’m Kaoru.”
The omega felt heat pool in his stomach at the closeness of the alpha- No. That was slick. Kaoru felt his face heat up when his traitorous body showed just how much he wanted the god damn alpha in front of him. He just hoped the green haired man wouldn’t smell it.
The smirk resting on Kojiro’s lips was suggesting he knew exactly how aroused Kaoru was. Then a muscly hand was tilting the omega’s chin up and diving in for a kiss. The pink haired man found it impossible to resist.
He closed his eyes against his will and allowed the taller man’s lips press against his own mouth.
And fuck. Saying Kojiro was a good kisser would’ve been underestimating him. The way he kissed Kaoru was sinful and hot, and the calligrapher found his knees going weak, even more slick pooling into his underwear.
When he leaned against the car for support, Kojiro leaned even closer, tilting Kaoru’s head more to slot their mouths together in a perfect angle. The kiss deepened impossibly and when Kaoru’s lips parted into a gasp, a tongue slipped inside his mouth.
Kaoru couldn’t help but submit under the onslaught. Usually, he was always fighting back, needing to be better or at least an equal, but with Kojiro’s tongue in his mouth, he couldn’t do anything else than take what the alpha gave him.
When they parted Kaoru was a mess. He was panting for breath and his face was flushed from more than just the heat of Okinawa’s summer. He was more than certain his body was burning for more than just the weather this time around.
Kojiro smiled, licking his lips. He seemed satisfied. ”See you around, Kaoru.” The way he said Kaoru’s name made the calligrapher’s already weak knees even weaker. Kojiro waved before turning and walking into his restaurant.
Kaoru could only stare after the alpha, his lips tingling from the kiss.
fuck.
