“For the record, I am completely blaming this on you.” Luke sighs as he finishes pitching the camp. Cal has been scolding Luke for what seemed like hours at this point.
“I'm sorry, ok? I forgot, I was busy!” Luke tried to defend himself, knowing he would fail. But hey, going down swinging was kind of his entire brand at this point, why not again?
“Oh no, not again Skywalker,” oh shit, last names. Luke was in trouble. “I can forgive forgetting like an extra pair of gloves or a pan. But a fucking sleeping bag when we’re on Ilum.” Cal looked up from where he had been storing the food and made eye contact with Luke. Luke gulped. This is how he died. Jedi Master Luke Skywalker, killed by his ticked off boyfriend. Leia would have a field day with this one.
“I’m sorry! I was helping Han fix the Falcon again, and then I was doing paperwork and then it was time to go-” Cal held up a hand and Lukes’ ramblings cut off abruptly. Cal heaves a sigh and runs his hand down his face, seemingly aging a few years.
“I know you didn’t mean to forget. But you’ve been really forgetful lately and it’s getting frustrating.” The resigned voice that Cal had was honestly worse than when he was scolding him. He sounded so tired and subdued. This was Lukes’ true weakness. Not the Dark Side, not all the crash landings he makes. Nope, how Cal sounds when he is one hundred and ten percent done with Luke’s antics. Luke walks over and grabs Cal’s hand.
“I really am sorry hun. I forgot, but I should have been packed sooner.” He pulls Cal into a hug and buries his face into Cal’s chest. Cal’s arms surround Luke and pull him closer, letting him know he’s forgiven. They stay like that for a few minutes until a shiver runs through Luke’s frame, slightly shaking the couple. Cal laughs and pulls them into the tent, where the lone sleeping bag lay.
“Come on, let's get into bed, before we get frostbite preferably.” Cal pulls off his boots and crawls into the bag, leaving room for Luke. He quickly pulls off his boots and joins Cal in the bag, once again taking his place in Cal’s arms. The pair drift off quickly, with blessedly peaceful dreams for once.
