Chapter Text
"Is he going to be hard to find?" Soap asks Price, arms crossed. All of you sit around a table discussing your abrupt new mission, helping a fellow Captain, and friend of Price.
"Considering he's over 6 foot, I don't think so." He replies.
"Is he dangerous?" Ghost asks gruffly. You can tell he feels iffy about this one.
"Definitely not. Well, not to us. Kid has bad social anxiety but won't hesitate to kill an enemy." The man named Hutch answers for Price. He was Kortac's leader.
All of it happened so suddenly. Price got a call from an old friend stating he needed a favor, and next thing you know he was dragging everyone out of their rooms for a debrief.
He turns his attention to Price. "And our team greatly appreciates you helping us. It's just too dangerous without the extra help and we've heard some stories about team 141. Word on the street is you guys can pull anything off."
"Anything for an old friend." Price laughs and claps Hutch's shoulder.
"What even happened to him?" You ask curiously. Hutch turns his attention to you, fabric of his jacket rustling. "He was captured on our last mission. He's been missing for two weeks now, but we think we've finally located him. It's dangerous though, and we'll be in enemy territory."
"That means all of you need to be on your toes this time around. We cannot afford any slip ups." Price adds nodding his head.
Soap cocks his head to the side. "So where's he being held?"
"The Russians have him holed up in a prison somewhere north. Once we're there, we'll have to sneak around to avoid being compromised. Any other questions?" He answers and looks around the room.
You smirked and twirled the knife in your hand. "When do we leave?"
"I like this one." Hutch says to Price, referring to you. "We leave at 0600 tomorrow." You nod.
"How do we know he's even alive?" Ghost questions.
"Same way we know where to find him...A mole." Hutch shrugs. So someone was working for Kortac on the inside, hm.
"Once inside, we search room after room until we find him. In and out, easy job."
"My second in command Horangi will also be assisting us. He'll meet us at the rendezvous point tomorrow." Hutch concludes. You all nod and say "Yes sir!" Hutch nods with approval before dismissing everyone.
"You guys go on and get some rest now, I'm gonna catch up with Hutch for a bit." Price bids everyone a goodnight and you guys make your way back to the barracks.
"I fuckin' hate the cold." Soap declares. "Why the hell it'd have to be Russia?"
"I'm with you Soap. It's cold and hard to hide from enemies. They could spot you from a mile away if you wear the wrong color!" You exclaim dramatically.
"So don't wear the wrong color." Ghost comments. You roll your eyes at him.
You all gather in the communal kitchen for a cup of tea before bed, Ghost being quieter than usual. Before you get to ask, Soap beats you to it. "You alright Lt? Somethin' on your mind?"
"I don't know. Something feels off about the mission. I want both of you to watch your backs out there tomorrow. Those damn Russians are unpredictable." He grits out.
"Awe, you worried about us?" You taunt. He rolls his eyes back at you. "We'll be fine Lt! After all, we learned from the best!" Soap laughs, shoots him a wink, and busies himself making a sandwich.
You slide Ghost's mug over to him. "We'll be careful Lt. Promise." You confirm quietly. His eyes meet yours and after a moment he nods. You smile at him and pour some milk into your own tea mug.
