Work Text:
It was just a typical day of fighting enemy organizations. The president wanted the new truce between the ADA and the Port Mafia to remain strong so he sent out Dazai as a strategist and requested a fighter from the Port Mafia so they could work together. Naturally, Mori picked Chuuya. Not only because he’s the best martial artist in the Mafia but also because they had history together so they are more likely to succeed. Atsushi and Akutagawa are the most likely duo to be on the field but after Akutagawa’s injury from a previous encounter, he was put on bed rest until further notice. This means the original Double Black is at it again.
For this mission, a Port Mafia traitor was hidden in a high-security building that they had to break into. Dazai made a path on the blueprints of the building and predicted the traitor was on the top floor of the building in case he needed a quick escape out the window. It was logical that Chuuya should charge in through the top-floor window and apprehend the traitor but it was more complicated than that. The building had large metal doors covering the glass beneath it in case someone used an ability to break in. As Chuuya breaks the metal, the traitor would be alerted and have enough time to escape before Chuuya even gets close. So, Dazai chose a different way. They were going to sneak in and slowly make their way to the top floor with a key card they have to steal from a guard.
Dazai would lead them there while Chuuya covered him. Dazai was waiting outside of the building, waiting for Chuuya to show up. They only had about ten minutes to complete their objective before the building swarmed with too many guards. As always, Chuuya had to show up with dramatics. Dazai saw him coming from a mile away; a glowing red dot in the distance closing in on him. Chuuya crashed to the ground, making a crater where he stood.
“Well well look who decided to show up,” Dazai commented. Chuuya completely ignored him and swung open the door to the front of the building. As soon as it opened, the alarm went off. Dazai sighed. Chuuya’s entrance was enough to alert everyone to evacuate.
Chuuya used his ability to make his way to the 4th floor by floating up the stairs. Now, Dazai was a sitting duck. He couldn’t do anything to help since Chuuya just forced his way into things, as always. He groaned and fell to his knees. He sat crisscrossed and rocked his body back and forth as he watched people fly out windows and explosions go off. This would surely cost a lot of money to repair. Luckily, the repairs are on Chuuya for damaging the building.
The traitor then flew out of the building and landed next to Dazai. His organs came out of his body and his face was smushed into the dirt. A little of his blood got on Dazai’s tan pants and he cried out.
“Chuuyaaaaaaa! You ruined my clothes!” he complained. Chuuya floated down to his side.
“Tough,” came Chuuya’s response. Dazai pouted and glanced at the dead body, then at Chuuya. Chuuya understood the signal and crossed his arms.
“It’s not that big a deal. Boss never said he was wanted alive.” His annoyance at the unsaid comment was visible. Dazai shrugged and stood up.
“Glad that’s over with! Let’s-” Dazai’s sentence was interrupted by something stabbing him from behind. He coughed up blood and his body failed to keep him up.
“Dazai!” Chuuya yelled and caught him before Dazai could hit the ground. Dazai gently hit Chuuya’s chest and smiled for a brief second until Chuuya dropped him again and he got a faceful of mud. He coughed even more and Chuuya charged into battle with his opponent. He turned over and crawled over to the wall to lean on. Once he was positioned, he relaxed and watched the battle.
The man who stabbed Dazai had a black hoodie on which hid his features but from what Dazai could see, this man is skinny yet agile and graceful on his feet. Chuuya was keeping up with him but not managing to land any hits. Chuuya was on the offense and the enemy on the defense, dodging every hit. Chuuya was getting annoyed and stopped attacking. The man grinned and a golden circle lit up around them. It affected Chuuya’s hearing as he held his head in agony. The man then moved around him and aimed a throwing knife toward Dazai. Dazai saw it coming, lying on his side. The knife hit the wall behind him. Chuuya screamed in pain and all of a sudden became silent. His body hit the dirt with a loud thump. Dazai felt his heart stop. No way this guy killed him. He’s okay, right? The enemy chuckled.
“My ability puts my opponents in a dream-like state where they can’t move or think for a certain period of time. Your little partner is just taking a nap, don’t worry,” he bragged. Dazai let out a breath he didn’t know he was holding. He’s alive at least but now Dazai is in trouble. He tried to move but the wound kept bleeding out, causing him to wince and cough some more.
The enemy took off his hood, revealing a heap of blond hair attached to a burned face and neck.
“The Demon Prodigy himself. Ever since you reappeared, working with the ADA, I’ve been praying for the day I get to kill you for what you did to me!” The man had a raspy voice that held years of hatred. Dazai should’ve expected someone with a personal grudge against him would one day track him down but he never expected it would be now.
The man held a knife to Dazai’s throat and gently pressed down. “Goodbye, Osamu Dazai.” Dazai simply giggled.
“You should know that I’m not easy to kill. Many have tried, including me, but none have succeeded so I suggest you give up and go home before my partner splatters your insides everywhere,” he replied. The man’s eyes widened and spun around to see Chuuya back up on his feet but it wasn’t Chuuya…
He twitched and roared. Corruption can’t be put to sleep. Chuuya moved swiftly and charged the man. It was the same dance as before but now, Chuuya was landing hits. The man got hit in the side and the leg. He stumbled back and Chuuya made a gravity ball and hurled it toward the man. It went right through his body and killed him instantly.
Dazai’s eyes never left Chuuya. Such a beautiful creature. Chuuya’s hair hugged his neck and brushed his shoulders, his clothes hugged his frame perfectly and Dazai could see it all. A red glow surrounded him in the night as he tilted his head up to the sky and roared.
“Haha…” his soft laugh echoed through Dazai’s body. Dazai’s cheeks were warm as Chuuya locked eyes with Dazai. Dazai is extremely lucky that Chuuya is his partner. Dazai put his arms up, welcoming Corruption into a hug. Corruption stopped and blinked at Dazai’s arms. He stumbled his way to Dazai in a trance and fell into Dazai’s lap.
No Longer Human went off and nullified For the Tainted Sorrow. Chuuya moaned at his exhaustion. Dazai winced at his still bleeding wound but ignored it to stroke Chuuya’s hair. Chuuya sighed and made eye contact with Dazai.
“Cuddle time? Already?” Chuuya rasped. Dazai chuckled lightly.
Chuuya raised an eyebrow at Dazai’s blush. “Am I really that good-looking with blood coming out of my mouth and laughing maniacally?” Chuuya questioned.
“You always look beautiful, slug,” Dazai replied. Chuuya scoffed but didn’t respond. Chuuya grabbed Dazai’s face and leaned in to kiss him. Dazai reciprocated and held Chuuya’s wrist. Once they pulled away, Chuuya moaned.
“We need medical attention,” Chuuya observed. Dazai shook his head.
“I’d rather die with you in my arms than have Mori treat me,” he whined. Chuuya sighed.
“Shitty Dazai, I was talking about the ADA physician. Yosano right?” Chuuya surprised him. Dazai expected Chuuya to call Mori and have him fix both of them like last time but not today. Why? Does he know what Mori did? Is this a trick or-
Chuuya squished his cheeks together. “Stop thinking, it’ll hurt your head.” Dazai’s blush was even more noticeable in Chuuya’s hands. He smirked but let go. Dazai wailed dramatically.
“Chibi is so mean!!”
Chuuya closed his eyes and rested in Dazai’s lap. “Call your co-workers.” And Dazai did.
