It’s valentine’s day, and Jonas squints at Sam as she enters the room, hands behind her back, clearly hiding something behind her body.
“You didn’t get me a present, did you?”
Sam looks sheepish, but not apologetic. Her determination is a big reason he fell in love with her, but sometimes it bites him in the ass.
“Maybe I did. But I promise it was for a good cause.”
“A cause other than making your sweet, amazing, loving boyfriend happy?”
She pauses, considers, and says:
“That was secondary, I admit.”
Jonas groans, plopping his book down on the table, and sighs:
“Sam, you didn’t.”
Sam pulls a pathetic little plant in a horrifically tiny pot out from behind her. It’s got perfectly pink flowers and the pot is patterned with matching hearts.
Jonas buries his face in his hands and yells good naturedly:
“Sam! You didn’t!”
Sam giggles, embarrassed, and tries to defend herself
“Just look at it! It obviously hasn’t been watered at the store, and I knew you could help it.”
Jonas raises his head and gestures her towards him, beckoning the offering closer to inspect it.
It really is pathetic, all limp and wilted, and quite cute.
“Sam, we really don’t need another plant right now.”
She grins at him, knowingly, and says cheerfully:
“Well, too late now.”
He groans again, louder, and she swoops closer. She deposited the plant into his waiting hands and then leans in to kiss him gently on the cheek.
“Love you, Jonas”.
Then she flees the room, leaving him staring down the newest addition to his quickly growing collection. He sighs, deeper again, and goes to water the plant. After that he’ll dig her gift out and throw it at her smug, adorable face.
