Lyle has been at work for a while before Todd stuck his head into his office. He walked up to his desk with a goofy grin.
“Hey can I come over to your house tonight” He stage whispered.” Lyle sighed, he had stopped working as soon as Todd came into view but now he was giving him his whole attention.
“And why would I let you come to my house”
“Come on why would you not want to spend time with your amazing boyfriend”
“Sshh” Lyle scanned to make sure no one had heard the idiot. “Don’t say that word here!”
“I was whispering” Todd rolled his eyes
“Still don’t say it”
“Don’t worry, I won’t let anyone know. I don’t want to ruin our secret office romance”
“You’re an idiot”
“maybe, but you’re the one dating an idiot” Lyle chuckled and couldn’t help but give Todd a soft look that he has been making more often. At first he didn’t want to be near the other man, but slowly he started to enjoy his antics. He wished he would be more serious sometimes, but it’s better to only wish for so much. Soon the sound of clicking could be herd coming down the hall. Rounding the corner was Todd’s mother and Lyle’s boss.
“Todd what are you doing, let Lyle get back to work and stop bothering him. We have a case to go over”
“Ya, Todd stop bothering me” Todd looked irritated, but turned to leave. Lyle turned back to his work but felt his mouth turn up into a smile. He could hear Todd grumbaling somthing, but figured it wasn't worth his time. Somedays both of them are too busy to see each other in the morning or even after work. Being able to see his boyfriend at all made him happy. Even if it was quick like just now. Taping away at his computer he thought about what to have for dinner.
The day went by slowly, but finally the day was over. Lyle made his way to his car and standing next to it was Todd.
“Hey there” He said as he had that stupid smile on his face. Lyle unlocked his car, making it so Todd could open the door for him. Once he was in the car his boyfriend shut the door. Just thinking of Todd as his boyfriend sent a number of emotions through him, but giddy was at the forefront. Todd climbed into the car and once he was situated, they were off.
“I was thinking of getting Italian for tonight” Lyle said never looking away from the road.
“You're deviating from your rabbit diet”
“I eat a balanced diet, besides I figured you would want to eat something different than what I had at home.”
“How thoughtful, my bunny” Lyle felt a shiver run up his spine and his face heat up. Todd chatted about random things and Lyle would throw in a comment here and there. They ordered their food and took it with them. They ate and after they finished they sat on the couch. Lyle was wrapped in Todd’s arms and felt very content. Then his boyfriend had to open his mouth.
“I want to tell my family about us” Lyle shot up faster than he thinks he ever has.
“Absolutely not!”
“Why not” he wined.
“Because your mother is a part of your family.”
“Yes, obviously. That’s usually how it works.”
“No, I don’t want your mother to lose all respect for me.”
“Oh really” Todd’s eyebrows were raised as high as they could staring down at the man in his arms.
“Yes, it’s not going to happen” Lyle laid his head back on Todd’s chest. He felt a hand slowly start to rub his back. “Todd, I don’t want you to think that I’m embarrassed to be with you, well most of the time.”
“Thanks babe for the boost of confidence”
“It’s just that your mother is my boss, how unprofessional would it look if I was dating a coworker and her son at that.”
“I get it”
“Do you really?”
“Yes” Lyle looked up into Todd’s eyes then leaned up to kiss him. “thank you.”
“of course, my bunny” Lyle sighed and kissed him more roughly this time.
