Chapter Text
Almost dropping some of her things, Jean ran passed through the heavy crowd of people already piling up the train station. God, it was such a hustle! And no, of course she doesn't blame it all to her boss who's a lot more late than her to come to work almost every damn day! Why would she even think that!? Yes, she hates him for being him. Yes, she hates him how he does not, in any way, see or know her existence even if she's right there in front of him!
With a bunch of "excuse me", "oh - sorry" and "comin' through", she managed to get at the office a little too early as the building seemed to be too quiet. Well, at least I'm not late. Not bad, Jean. But what she didn't expect was when she arrived at Patrick's office, he's already there.
She jumped in surprise as she opened the door and saw him sitting with a blank expression. He was listening to his Walkman but it seems like he stopped it as he felt her presence. God - it's too early to be scaring me like that. Jean chuckles quietly as she placed some of his assigned works for her to do and was about to leave when he spoke.
"Don't wear that outfit again."
Jean turns her head towards him in a hurry. "What? I didn't hear you.."
"I said, do not wear that outfit again. Wear a dress, a skirt, or something." He clears his throat as she places a strand of hair out of her face and into the back of her ear.
"Oh - well, will do, Mr. Bateman."
"Jean, we already talked about this one : it's just Patrick, please."
"Yeah - uh, I'm sorry. I didn't remembered that one." She nodded slowly as she turned her head down.
"Thank you. For this work you've made."
"It's not a problem, Mr. Bate - I mean, Patrick." He's definitely gonna kill her now. I'm bracing myself for the worse.
But, of course he didn't. Instead, he just —
He chuckled quietly, but she still heard it. She left his office with a smile, with him doing the same while shaking his head as an indication to himself of "she's so cute". Though, both nor neither of them might not say it, they love each other. On one or more ways, even. Sure, she may have been the first one to fall but now that she can kind of see that he's changing (she doesn't know if it's for the good or bad) and have approaching feelings for her.
He wouldn't know she likes him if he didn't asked her out for dinner and asks her where she wants, only for her to say '"Dorsia". And him, having to fake having a reserved table and then getting kicked out in the process. But still, they managed to talk and hang out on his place. He did have the urge to kill her but he didn't. He views her more of a real person than the other sex works and models he (previously) slept with. Their chemistry was more than just the typical "boss and secretary friendly relationship". No, they both know they're more than that.
