“Alright I don’t have any announcements for today, but I do have a gift for all of you. Courtesy of the student council,” Gildarts announced, setting a large cardboard box on his desk and opening it up. Inside were tons of white buckets hats in plastic packaging, with an envelope inside each package. He began to grab them and toss them at each of his home room students.
Lucy and Gray caught theirs mid air, immediately opening packages up to inspect the bucket hats. Natsu, however, was too busy talking to notice the bucket hat coming at his head. His conversation was brought to a halt when he was hit in the head by the crinkly plastic.
“Hey! These aren’t actually that bad! They’re kind of cute,” Lucy exclaimed, pulling out her iPad to check herself out in the camera app. The bucket hat was a plain white bucket hat, with Fairy Tail’s crest embroidered in the middle. The color of the crest was different on everyone’s bucket hat, and the one she had was light pink. She adjusted the bucket hat to her liking, and took a couple pictures of herself posing with several different hand signs.
“I mean, I wouldn’t wear this outside at all. But yeah, they aren’t half bad. They’re better than the socks they gave us last year,” Gray agreed, taking his bucket hat out of the plastic packaging and putting it on. He leaned over and faced Lucy’s iPad towards him, adjusting the bucket hat to better fit his head.
“Oh we should take a picture together! Natsu put your hat on too!” Lucy suggested as she lined up her iPad to fit all three of them in the frame. However, before Natsu could say anything, she snapped a picture of the three of them. Both Gray and Natsu were mid sentence, with Lucy being the only one who actually looked presentable. “Geez, you both look so funny here. I should print this out and frame it.”
“Oh yeah? Well maybe wait for us to be ready to take the picture next time,” Gray mumbled, rolling his eyes at Lucy’s antics.
“Yeah for real Luce! I didn’t even get to put my hat on!” Natsu whined, slipping on the bucket hat with a pout.
“Alright alright. Get in the frame you two,” Lucy giggled, lining up the iPad once more and waiting for both Gray and Natsu to be ready before taking the picture. Once they all heard the familiar noise of the camera shutters, they all crowded around Lucy’s iPad to examine the image. “You guys don’t look bad here at all!”
“Yeah, maybe cuz you actually waited this time,” Gray chuckled, flicking Lucy’s forehead. She let out a groan in protest, rubbing her slowly reddening forehead with a pout.
“Not to ruin the moment, but do either of you two have the history homework? I forgot to do it,” Natsu asked with a chuckle, regretting his inquiry almost immediately when he saw Gray and Lucy’s faces turn sour. They both looked at him in displeasure, wondering whether they should help Natsu out or leave him to suffer.
“Dragneel you idiot. History is literally next period and we have less than a minute left in home room. How the hell do you expect to finish the assignment in time?” Gray groaned, sitting back in his seat to collect his things before the bell rang.
“Hey! It was just a question! If you give me the answers, I can make it work in under 30 seconds,” Natsu pleaded, bringing his hands up to beg Gray for the assignment.
“Seriously Natsu, do you ever do your homework?” Lucy said with a sigh, begrudgingly handing over her homework for Natsu to copy. The bell rang soon, and true to his word, Natsu was able to copy everything down in under 30 seconds. They all gathered their things and left their home room, with their new bucket hats adorning their heads.
