So, I’ll have to prove my power.

Summary:

Everyone knows the difference between Wednesday Addams and Enid Sinclair.
Light and Darkness. Raven and Wolf. Sun and Moon.
One is all physical touch and emotion.
The other words that could kill and hands that have killed.
A collection of short stories based on tumblr prompts woven together as a whole fic.

Notes:

Set in the years after the defeat of crackstone. All of them are 18+. After the events of the show.
No one expected it when the two began dating, many thought it was a joke. No one ever saw them acting like a couple.
Enid hid nothing, saying they were, but still everyone didn't believe her. Wednesday didn't let anyone touch her, let alone get that close.
So Wednesday, biting back cutting remarks, enlists the help of Enids array of friends, the Saviors of Nevermore, to assist her in figuring out how to prove that she is in fact dating the blonde werewolf in order to get the parasites of the school to shut up and leave them both alone.
A handful times people assume Wednesday has lost her mind or is making fun of Enid. And one time they realize there was more to it all along.
Enjoy!

Chapter 1: Unlimited Rizz

Summary:

Wednesday tries and fails to get the students of nevermore to realize she and Enid are dating.

Chapter Text

Wednesday Addams currently found herself  staring at the back of a certain blonde werewolf's head, the werewolf in question sitting at a table surrounded by a group of students listening to Enid's retelling of the Battle against Crackstone. It had taken time for the werewolf to come to terms with everything that had happened, getting to the point where nightmares no longer plagued her dreams.

The small goth had helped with that, dealing with darkness and death was something she was proficient in. Why would she willingly help someone with anything, you ask? Because by the time they had returned to Nevermore the following year Wednesday had come to terms with the fact that the werewolf had made and would always have a place in her cold dead heart. The possibility was pointed out by her own family, when they questioned why she spoke about the colourful werewolf outside of school now that she no longer had to see the girl. The question had caused Wednesday to go over every interaction, every moment she and the blonde had been together. The realisation, Enid Sinclair was her paramour, her other half.

When they had seen each other for the first time after that extended summer while the school had undergone repairs, and new staff had been hired. Wednesday, not one to waste time, had told the werewolf her insight into their relationship. Others may have looked on the moment in confusion as the Goth spoke, "As I stated before we last parted ways, the mark you left on me is indelible, it is a mark that will never be removed. Though I find myself not wanting to attempt to try. You Enid Sinclair, will reside in my cold black heart for the rest of my days." Enid who by that point had become accomplished in interpreting the ways of one Wednesday Addams had burst into tears, confessing herself that she loved the shorter woman. Enid  was the one to ask Wednesday to be her girlfriend, Wednesday had tested the word first, "Girlfriend." A brief pause before a curt nod, "Yes. If you will be mine." To which Enid had squealed to the point Wednesday was surprised glass didn't shatter.

Wednesday would be the first to admit she knew nothing about feeling emotions, she had the definitions memorised, the art of processing them? That was the only aspect of life she would be unwilling to admit she failed at, yet everyone knew it. That was how she found herself in this current predicament. Ever since the return to Nevermore for their final year of suffering. The prison was designed to corral children so parents didn't have to deal with them. Only to release them into the world once they were legally no longer required to attend due to the age limit. Oh how she longed for the day those rusted metal gates flew open, allowing her to sink into the shadows of society never forced to speak to any of the parasites Enid called, 'Classmates' and 'Friends'.

She suppressed the shiver that threatened to show, pulling her cloak of emotionless expression tighter around her shoulders. Despite the exchange at the start of the Second Year here at Nevermore, people hadn't realised that the girls were dating. Enid was considered a jokester, not many people taking her seriously, so when she would say they were, people would just laugh at her, thinking it was a joke. Wednesday didn't see the point, it was no one's business who she dated. But then people began asking Enid out, flirting with the blonde. So the goth  decided that something needed to be done, to get the worms to stay away from her werewolf. But she definitely was not jealous . How to make clear the matter  however, was something she couldn't figure out. So she had enlisted the help of the group of 'friends' Enid was so adamant to say she had. They had made her a list of things to do in the beginning, but all of them were stupid. So they had taken instead of offering a suggestion a day, and Wednesday would follow through with it like a challenge, a test.

This morning Ajax had been the one to offer a suggestion. "Get her to smile at you. Ask her to do something that she would only do for you?"

Her mind returning to the problem, eyes still locked on the blonde's head. She decided to combine the two suggestions the Gorgon had given her.

Yoko, who was sitting beside Wednesday watching in boredom, nudged her arm, "Careful. One of those guys might make a move on your woman."

Wednesday eyes slid to the vampires like a knife cutting through flesh. "Want to see something?"

"Sure?" Yoko answered in confusion. She was expecting Wednesday to pull a stake out of her pocket and stab her, instead finding herself watching as Wednesday's attention went back to Enid.

"Enid!" The dark-haired girl called out.

Enid had been in the middle of speaking, "I said, no! And he's-" Head perking up as her name left Wednesday mouth. Wolf ears popping out of the top of her head, those around her taking a step back in surprise as the blondes' eyes moved to Wednesday. A questioning look, but no words.

"Smile." A command, not a request. Monotone, and straight to the point.

The werewolf's face immediately lit up like a Christmas tree, ears tilting, fangs showing through her smile, tail growing from the base of her spine wagging back and forth like a dog who's just been praised for being a good girl.

Wednesday gave Yoko a glance out of the corner of her eye as the vampire doubled over wheezing with laughter. Those who had witnessed it looked at Wednesday with the faintest of glares thinking she was making fun of the werewolf.

A few days later as the beginning of classes drew ever closer the freshman showed up, Enid had been selected to give them a tour of the school, Weems still calling the girl, 'Nevermores best and brightest'. Wednesday trailing behind Enid like a shadow.

Divina had offered the suggestion, " Go with her when she shows the freshman around. If you're close to her, they'll assume you are together, everyone does with me and Yoko."

"Hi, welcome to Nevermore!" The blonde said waving at the group of new students, a blinding smile on her face. Shy smiles and hesitant waves being given in return. One girl raised her hand. Enid looked at her expectantly, always happy to answer someone's questions.

"Uh- who is that behind you?"

Wednesday had been standing just behind Enid out of the girl's view, eyes narrowed, bangs casting a shadow over her eyes that made her look more intimidating, hands clenched at her sides, daring any of them to say something. But as Enid turned around her face softened, Wednesday looked at her with a deadpan gaze, though Enid could see the smile hidden under it, to others it looked like Wednesday was ready to chop the werewolves head off.

"Oh, that's Wednesday. She likes to follow me around to make sure no one says anything about my scars."

The freshman from that day started calling her Baba Yaga, because if you dared speak ill of Enid, you ended up in the infirmary or wishing you had.

Wednesday was reaching the point a week later where she realised that simply glaring or using a smile wasn't working. People assumed she was making fun of Enid, finally digging her black nail into the werewolf and going for the killing blow. So with immense regret she went to Bianca, grilling the siren on what languages people in the school knew. The only language most people spoke in this school was Greek, as it was a required class. Vampires knew Latin. Aside from that no one really spoke any other languages, unless they came from a family that spoke it by default.

" You know multiple languages right, like Italian? Doesn't your dad sweetly talk to your mother in Italian? Why don't you try that?" Bianca had offered her suggestion right then and there. An intriguing thought to say the least.

So later that day during lunch when everyone was gathered in the quad, Enid, having not seen Wednesday for half the day due to the different class schedules was holding Wednesday's hand, rubbing her cheek against it giggling. Those who were watching waited for the knife to fall, as the glare on the Addams face did little to make them think Enid would get out of the situation alive.

The goth glared at the blonde, restraining herself from kissing the girl's stupid face, and began to speak, the corner of her mouth twitching, " Cara mia. "

Enid knew what the words/phrase meant, and turned to Yoko hugging her as she kicked her feet under the table in excitement, knowing that Wednesday was still adverse to physical touch not wanting to overstep in public more than she already had.

The spectators watched in horror, whispering to one another, "Oh god did she just curse Enid?"

"Well, it was nice knowing her."

"She was so young."

Another failed attempt.

That evening as Enid returned to their dorm room having showered and gotten ready for bed, she was surprised to find Wednesday in her bed, buried under two blankets and all the stuffed animals that had been within arms reach, eyes locked on the ceiling, unmoving. She crept closer to the bed with a worried smile on her lips, "Um, Wednesday? Are... you feeling alright?"

Dark eyes met light, "My continued failed attempts at getting these parasites to realise we are in fact together, have led me here. You have been the more emotionally inclined one. So, I have in a manner put myself in your shoes, figuring it was the overwhelming amounts of colour you surround yourself with that give you the insight that I lack here."

The blond shook her head, slipping under the blankets with the raven, laying on her side, the other girl doing the same so they were facing one another. Enid rested the back of her hand on the bed, Wednesday placing hers on top as she threaded their fingers together. The goths other hand  brush along Enid's jaw, "If they continue to flirt with you as they have, I may end up committing murder."

Enid closed her eyes, head leaning into Wednesday’s hand, her free hand moving up to hold lightly onto her girlfriend's wrist. "Let's not cross that bridge just yet."

Wednesday’s words were lost as the blonde moved closer, kissing her, pulling her mind from darker thoughts and into the light.

A few more days passed, each with a failed attempt at getting everyone to put two and two together. Xavier had said she should just tell people she was dating Enid, but Wednesday was never one to take the easy road. She wouldn't give them the answer right out, they had to work for it. Deserve to obtain this knowledge.

Sitting on the edge of the fountain in the quad she was contemplating the suggestion she had been given by Kent. " Show everyone that Enid isn't to be messed with. Because if they do, they have to deal with you. And you're scary as hell."

How would she go about fulfilling this task? Enid was a werewolf, she could protect herself, she didn't need Wednesday’s help in that area. Of course she would offer her knives in the girls defence if it ever came down to it. She was about to demand another suggestion from the siren boy when Enid came running into the quad, "Willa!!!!" She ran up to the goth, tripping over her own feet bringing her to her knees in front of the goth girl. Arms wrapping around her girlfriends waist burying her face in the girls stomach, tears threatening to spill from her eyes now soaking into Wednesday’s sweater.

"Why are you crying, Sinclair?" The silence that had descended on the quad noted, but not acknowledged in the slightest.

Teary blue eyes looked up at Wednesday, "They called me a bad dog."

Wednesday's eyes narrowed, eyebrows knitting together just slightly, barely noticeable to all but Enid. Her voice low, quiet, laced with murderous intent, "Who called you a bad dog? Point them out. I will end them.."

Enid's ears flattened against her head, "I don't know if I should..."

"Why?"

"I don't know if it would make me an accessory to murder..."

"I won't kill them."

"...Okay...It was my brothers…”

The story would go on to say that Wednesday did in fact try to kill them. Kicking the door to the gym open, with Enid holding on to her waist begging her not to do it. Wednesday held a silver dagger in each hand searching for the girl's brothers. The boys ended up spending a week in the infirmary recovering from their wounds.

" Kiss her, you useless lesbian. " Yoko suggested. Straight to the point as per usual when it came to the undead woman.

Public displays of affection were the bane of Wednesday’s existence especially taking in the fact of who her parents were. Morticia and Gomez Addams were widely known for being unable to keep their hands off one another, if the moment took them, they went with it, regardless of where they were at the time or who was around when it happened. The start of Wednesday's childhood trauma began and ended with the two.

But the challenge still hung around her head like a storm cloud as the day progressed, wondering how she would go about it. Just a single kiss, she could manage that at least.

The opportunity presented itself in the form of a pissed off angry girlfriend, wolf ears and fangs present, threatening to shift, on the verge of mauling the boy in front of her who was the cause of said anger. Xavier had that effect on people.

Moments where the blonde's wild side came to light were the times that Wednesday felt herself falling in love all over again. She turned on a dime, walking up behind the taller girl, leaning forward, pressing her lips against the blondes cheek. Enid instantly relaxed, eyes closing as a light blush spread across her face.

If this couple were normal, everyone would have found it cute. Instead the rumours floating around said that Wednesday had been possessed by a spirit and was not in control of her body at the time. It was the only way anyone could accept what they had seen. Nothing else made sense.

In this particular instance, Wednesday didn't care about the failure to get people to realise her relationship with Enid, she had gotten to see her girlfriend about to go feral. A win in her book.

What few steps forward Wednesday had taken was destroyed when the door to her and Enid's dorm was opened, Yoko would never learn to knock. The vampire and a handful of others were meant to come over for a study session with Enid, it being decided to use their dorm as it was bigger, and had room for everyone. Wednesday was planning on going out to the forest to look for mushrooms for an experiment she was working on.

The goth's departure from the room ended up being delayed when Enid had tried to tickle her, this immediately led to Wednesday chasing the werewolf around the room with a dagger in hand. The chase lasted for a few minutes until Enid pretended to get caught allowing Wednesday to tackle her on to the ground.

Enid laid there head pressed back against the floor soaking in the joy of how close Wednesday was to her. "You're beautiful, Willa!"

Wednesday straddling Enid's waist, a dagger pressed against her chest, literally threatening her life glaring down at the girl, "I'll cut your throat. That'll get you to shut up."

It was at that moment the door was thrown open to reveal Yoko and Divina, the rest of the collective friend group, and a handful of other students who were struggling in their classes. The group had looked at the two for a complete five seconds before Yoko slowly shut the door, "Don't mind us. We'll give you a minute."

While the two girlfriends' close friends knew they were playing around, or doing their own weird way of flirting, the others in the group who didn't know the goth well enough feared for Enid's life, expecting to find the blonde dead when the door opened again. Instead 2 minutes later it was thrown open to reveal a grumpy looking Wednesday as she walked past the group heading off on her delayed journey into the forest. A smiling Enid standing in the middle of the room like nothing bad had happened at all.

Wednesday counted this as three fails all together. 1 for Enid tickling her. 1 for the misunderstanding and undoing of previous work. 1 for the delayed trip.

Wednesday had been set on winning this game, this challenge she had created for herself. Fulfilling each suggestion given to her yet her 'peers' fail to see the actual meaning behind her actions, always assuming the worst, never considering another brighter possibility. The goth came to the conclusion she only had herself to blame for it. She had built a fortress of solitude and disdain for everyone and everything around herself so well no one could imagine there may be something more hidden just beyond the gate.

She had decided to give up, the headache of trying to prove to these fools she was dating Enid, no longer worth her time. Sinclair was hers, and that was all that mattered.

"Willa!"

The goth stopped walking looking up at the blonde in front of her with the most ridiculous headpiece she had ever seen perched on her head.

"Found these 50% off, just in time for the holidays! How do I look?" A proud smile on the girl's face, hands on her hips, chest puffed out like she was wearing a crown.

"Utterly ri-" The goths words cut off as two other seniors who had never really gotten along with Enid, 'wanna be bullies' as the werewolf called them, called out from behind Wednesday.

"You look ridiculous!" The two burst out with laughter as they pointed at Enid, drawing the attention of others in the area.

Wednesday pulled one of the many hidden daggers she kept on her person out from its hiding spot, head turning to the side with a murderous glare aimed at the two laughing girls, "Your deaths are inevitable but if I sense regret in your voices I'll consider making it quick."

The two bullies step back fear on their faces.

Enid held her hands up, "She's only teasing... I think."

One of the girls pointed at Wednesday, "You freak! No wonder everyone calls you a psycho!"

Wednesday already had a comeback prepared, turned to face the girl's eyes narrowed; this kept her from seeing what played out behind her. The words never left her mouth as the sound of tearing fabric and bones breaking, reforming, came from behind her. Enid's left claw came to rest on her shoulder, the werewolf's right arm wrapping around the ravens small frame, a tall muscular form hovered over Wednesday protectively as her head moved to stop over Wednesdays right shoulder, lips curled back, mouth open to reveal sharp deadly fangs.

Enid wasn't one typically prone to violence in the past, but after shifting for the first time she felt everything more intensely than before. That which set her off more than anything was people making fun of Wednesday. Glowing blue eyes stared down the two girls.

The raven felt a smile tug at her lips, her right hand moving up to press against the right side of Enid's face, left hand doing the same on the left. Dark eyes sliding to the two wrong-doers, "Fair warning. My girlfriend’s temper can be even worse than mine." Her words seemingly reinforced as Enid growled at them, holding Wednesday tightening ever so slightly in a show of possessive protection.

It was then and there, that everyone realised all along Enid had been telling the truth. All the little words, and looks Wednesday had been giving the blonde her own way of saying she cared, that she loved her. The glares and sharp words she gave others a warning; if you hurt her I hurt you.

On that day everyone saw both girls in a new light.

Wednesday Addams, the goth who would kill someone for looking at her wrong; had a soft spot for one person and one person only, her girlfriend, Enid Sinclair.

Enid Sinclair, the bright bubbly werewolf everyone called a golden retriever; was in fact capable of scaring the ever living shit out of anyone when she got angry, especially if you insulted her girlfriend, Wednesday Addams.

Little did either of the two know that this resolution was only possible because their friends had bribed the two girls to insult Enid, and then Wednesday, without telling the two why. Thankfully the two girls didn't need much convincing to do it. They just never expected to be a part of the grand reveal of the werewolf and ravens relationship status.

Enid Sinclair succeeded in getting everyone to realise her words were true.

Wednesday Addams succeeded in proving her power. Though that power turned out to be her girlfriend all along.

Years later during their wedding Yoko would proudly speak of these moments, how Wednesday had done everything they had said to get people to realise that Enid was hers because she was too proud to admit she had feelings and simply tell people her and the werewolf were dating, resulting in a mountain of misunderstandings, and a single moment of understanding.
