Summary:

How Bakugo gets through his best friend dying

Chapter Text

BZZT - "Dynamight, your hear me?"

Katsuki chuckled at the voice in his ear.

"Loud and clear, red. Reminding me of the mission again?"

Katsuki turned to his muttering friend. "We're here to investigate an unknown villain, only seen a few times before. She appears to have some sort of telekinesis," Izuku piped up. "Speaking of it, there's a life sign up ahead!"

Katsuki turned on his thermal glasses. Izuku was right - a humanoid heat source was floating up ahead. Izuku ran forward, stopping to wait in the doorway. Katsuki noticed a silver dagger laying in the ground.

"Hey, Deku, did you drop something?

"No-"

A splatter of blood sprayed onto Katsuki's glasses.

"What the hell?"

Katsuki wiped it off, focusing on a lump in front of him. The lump was bloodied, with clumped green hair. A dagger played in his chest. Katsuki dropped to the ground. "Deku? What the hell man? This isn't funny!!"

"Dynamight! Check his heartbeat!!"

"It's fading!!! Shit shit shit - call Recovery Girl!!"

"We can't get her out quick enough!!'

Katsuki heard a mumble from his friend. "Kacchan?"

Katsuki grasped his hand. "I'm here, bud. What do you need, anything?!"

"Tell mom, Ochako, I love them."

Katsuki bit back a sob. "Sure sure, anything else?"

Izuku smiled for the last time. "Sorry I can't stay..."

Izuku's gaze trailed off.

"Deku? Deku?! You fucking idiot wake up!!!"

"Katsuki."

"We can't leave him! I CAN'T LEAVE HIM!!"

"You need to-"

Katsuki ripped his earpiece off and stomped on it. He searched the room for a life sign. "Where the hell did they go? I can't let them go." He sunk back to the floor. "Shit, I messed up so bad. I can't help you Izuku!!" Katsuki curled Izuku's body into his arms. "I'm so sorry! I'm so sorry. I'm so sorry."

--------------------Seven Minutes Later---------------------

"Dynamight!?" The Dragon Hero, Ryukyu, burst in to the warehouse. "Thank god you're still alright." A hero dressed in a plastic coat carried Izuku's body away. Earphone Jack bursted in with an angry look, jamming a jack into the wall. Red Riot followed closely behind, running up to Katsuki. He said nothing, simply wrapping his friend in a hug.

About ten minutes passed while Katsuki sobbed into Eijiro, and a medley of faces ran in and out of the room. Finally Ryukyu, who had been overseeing the whole ordeal, yelled that it was time to leave. Eijiro, teary eyed, lifted Katsuki's face to his.

"I think we should go now."

"..."

"You can't stay here forever, man."

"I just-just...what will I tell Inko? Ochako?"

"They know already. You can talk to them whenever you're ready."

"...I don't want to go home alone right now."

"I don't want you to either. I'll come over with you."

Eijiro pulled Katsuki to his feet and led him outside.
