So the lovely Rinqueen did a charity stream tonight (2/10/23) to raise money for TRANS RIGHTS!!! 🏳️🏳️🏳️
Me and someone else in her discord decided we'd write fics in support and this was to be posted @ $100 and she exceeded that by $2,000!! I'm sososososooooo happy and proud of what happened and long story short, I gotta do a lot of things now lol. This will follow the events of her 100 days of stardew valley series (which you should really watch, very entertaining)! :)

Chapter Text

Day 1:
The bus was hot. Unbearably hot. The material of the seat got too hot while sitting at the last rest stop and the AC wasn’t working. The only relief from this heat was staring out the open window out to the sea. The hours of riding were finally worth it when she saw the fateful sign that read “STARDEW VALLEY, 0.5 MI.” It felt like just as she had seen it, the bus was stopping. Upon getting out of the bus, Rin was left at a small space which then led to a path. The space had a few trees and flowers around, but other than that there was nothing else noticeable. There was no shade to escape the sun’s gaze, so the only thing on her mind was getting to her new home.

Once she looked around a little more, she realized there was someone waiting for her. It was a woman, seeming to be in her late 30s, early 40s. She had fox orange hair, tied back with a green hair tie. She had on a yellow long sleeve t-shirt, green pants, brown muck boots, and a fur lined vest, which made Rin start to sweat just looking at it.

“Hello! You must be Rin. I’m Robin, the local carpenter [insert small, awkward wave from Rin]. Mayor Lewis sent me here to fetch you and show you the way to your new home. He’s there now tidying things up for your arrival. The farm’s right over here if you’ll follow me!” Robin gives Rin a big grin and sets forth on the path, taking a right at the intersection. There’s more trees lining the path now, most overhanging giving some shade on the path. Less than a minute passes before a clearing appears, squared in with trees and a river running through the middle. Straight ahead there was a small brown and red house in a farmhouse style. As Robin and Rin get a better view onto the farm, it’s covered with stones, branches, and bushes. The only thing going through Rin’s mind is, “What have I gotten myself into-?”

Robin could see the panic on Rin’s face, and quickly tried to comfort the very distressed Rin. As the words were flowing, an older man exited the small farm house. He was short, dressed in a bright green shirt and brown overalls, his gray hair covered with a cap. He descended towards the steps to greet them.

“Ah, the new farmer! It’s not everyday that someone new moves in, it’s quite a big deal!” Lewis and Robin go back and forth about the house for some time while Rin ogles the space that was now officially hers. Eventually, the two leave Rin to her own devices (a very bad idea if you ask me). The rest of her day consisted of tidying up the farm (just a smidge) and taking the time to walk through Pelican Town. As she walked into the main square, she admired the buildings that told stories about the new place she was living. Through the small neighborhood she went, admiring every trash can at every residence, maybe sometimes picking through it, we don’t know.

The first building she actually entered was the general store. She was greeted snarkily by the man behind the counter, who she found out was named Pierre and his wife, Caroline. Caroline seemed like a lovely woman, talking about how excited everyone is for Rin to be here, and how close Rin and her daughter were in age. Caroline then had to excuse herself as she was meeting with one of her friends. Pierre decided to storm up a conversation, and what a conversation it was. The entire time they spoke, he boasted about how much better his store was than Joja Mart. Rin kind of just wanted to get out of there, however what he said next would scar her for life. He started talking about his hours, and revealed that he was closed on Wednesdays. Rin was horrified, and made a lame excuse to never buy anything from there, ever (unless it was desperately needed like, let's say, a backpack). Rin then decided to just go explore more and introduce herself to the locals.

She discovered a bridge that would take her over the river, but what was on it would change her life forever. A young woman, probably around Rin’s age, leaning on the side and peering down into the water. She was around 5’5, dressed in a turquoise jean vest over a black t-shirt. What captured Rin’s attention the most however, was her gorgeous purple hair, styled in a 70’s blowout. She was immediately entranced with the woman. Everything about her seemed to be perfect. Rin nervously went up to her and introduced herself. The conversation was short, but impacted Rin to never love anyone again.

“H-hi, I’m R-rin-”

“Oh, you moved into that old farmhouse, right? That’s a shame, I really enjoyed hanging out there.” Rin didn’t know what else to say, so she just walked towards the local Joja Mart.

She returned to her farm in the late afternoon and officially started her farm. She planted all of her crops, then looked around a little more, trying to find something to sell to make more money. Once it finally got late enough, she went to bed, inspired by the events that happened that day to make a life worthwhile here in Stardew Valley.
