Valentine's Day was fast approaching and Ike was determined to do something special for Mysta. It was their first Valentines together and after a rough year Ike wanted to make it unforgettable. He didn't want to do the typical flowers, chocolate, and a date; he wanted to make the day special, he wanted to make Mysta feel like he was special.
They could go to an amusement park, to a zoo, or to an aquarium, Mysta wasn't picky with his date spots which made things all the more difficult for Ike. Ike tried his hardest to wrack his brain to remember any off handed comments Mysta may have made. After scrolling through social media and their DMs Ike remembered Mysta had a love for the stars. It was something Mysta had quietly mentioned a few times but Ike noticed how much Mysta's blue eyes would sparkle every time he talked about space.
With that little tidbit of knowledge stored away, Ike was ready to start planning the perfect Valentine's date. Ike had the whole day planned out and it started with a picnic at a park near the observatory.
"Touching grass for Valentine's day? That's a new one for you, Ikey." Mysta said with a cheeky grin.
"What? New is good. Besides its nice out so why not?" Not to mention a picnic meant Ike could flex his cooking skills and try his hand at making a bento. Inside Mysta's bento was; white rice, karaage chicken, and various fruits, while Ike's also had different fruits and some onigiri. It was a nice day out, sunny, clear skies and with a light breeze. The park wasn’t too busy so the two of them could enjoy each other's company while basking in the afternoon sun. It was nice, spending an afternoon with Mysta is a place that was out of their comfort zone.
After their cozy lunch date it was time to start their trek to their main destination. Mysta wasn't too happy that a hike was included in their date, Ike just waved off his complaints as they made their way up the trail. Mysta still had no idea where they were going which made Ike's excitement bubble up even more as they reached the top of the hill. What was waiting for them was a massive building with domed ceilings that was buzzing with activity.
"Welcome to the Niji Observatory where you can gaze at the stars and learn all about space." Ike proclaimed as he grabbed Mysta's hand and led him into the building.
Ike's plan of action was to catch one of the planetarium's shows then wait for nightfall by checking out the exhibits. Luckily for him Mysta let Ike drag him around the building (it was endearing and a little worrying at how shellshocked Mysta was). The show was a tour of their galaxy projected on the planetarium's domed ceiling. Ike knew he should've been paying to the show but his eyes were drawn to how beautiful Mysta looked as he stared up at the galaxies in wide eyed wonder. No star could shine as bright as Mysta in Ike's eyes.
"Well that was quite the show." Ike said as they left the planetarium, Mysta hummed in agreement. Ike pointed out what kind of exhibits the observatory had then let Mysta take the lead. As they jumped from one exhibit to another Mysta would tell Ike trivia about the featured pieces. It was all a bit much for Ike but seeing Mysta's passion and excitement shine through made Ike's heart swell with pure love and adoration for Mysta.
Eventually the sun began to set, day turned into night, and the stars came out in full force. Now that the stars were out they could finally check out the telescopes. Ike had been looking forward to the telescopes all day, he remembered Mysta mentioning once that he always wanted a telescope when he was younger but could never afford one. Ike sincerely hoped this opportunity would grant Mysta's childhood dream.
There were multiple small telescopes scattered around the observatory, but the one Ike had been looking forward to was the massive Zeiss telescope. There was already a queue formed and as the two waited for their turn Ike could feel Mysta vibrating with excitement. As they neared the front of the line Ike could feel Mysta's hand tightly grip his own, Mysta's energy was so contagious that Ike could feel himself bubble with excitement.
Up close the telescope was even bigger than Ike had expected, but thanks to the staff's help Mysta was able to navigate it with ease. It was fascinating to watch the telescope work in action,Ike only hoped that whatever Mysta was seeing was worth the wait. When their turn was over they thanked the staff then slowly made their way outside hand in hand. Mysta gently led Ike to one of the smaller telescopes and told him how to use it and where to look.
"You know," as Ike gazed at the glittering night sky he could feel Mysta wrap his arms around his waist. Mysta squeezed him gently as he leaned over Ike's back, Ike could feel Mysta's warm breath puff against his ear as Mysta rested his chin on Ike's shoulder. "When I was a kid I used to make patterns out of the stars and when I was away from home I would look for those patterns. And when I would find those patterns I would always think that even though I'm so far away from home the stars are always the same." As they stood up Mysta lightly gripped Ike's shoulder and pulled him into a hug.
"The stars are one of the few things that gave me comfort when I was younger. Tonight brought back some of those memories and made me realize that you give me that same kind of comfort." Mysta pulled back from the hug and leaned down for a kiss. "Today was amazing, thank you."
Ike blushed from the kiss and confession. "No need to thank me. I just wanted our first Valentine's Day together to be special. But I'm glad you had a good time." Ike said as he leaned forward for a kiss of his own.
"I had a great time, I really did. I love you so much Ike.''
"I love you too Mysta."
The two held each other in a tight embrace, whispering their love to each other as the stars twinkled above them.
