Chapter Text
"It's stupid!" Theo laughed slightly as Boris feigned mock-offense.
"Is not stupid, Potter!" He argued back, causing Theo to laugh a little more. He rolled his eyes as Boris gave him a glare with no bite behind it.
"Whatever you say, your majesty." He stood up and gave Boris a small bow.
"I quite like royalty, Potter, Maybe I should be king." He seemed impressed with himself, and Theo couldn't help but burst his bubble. "Sorry, but I'm pretty sure that isn't how it works. You can't just send in a letter of recommendation and you're resume and hope to get the position of king, you need to be born into the royal family. Even then, you still might not end up as king, it depends on how far along the line of royals-" He was suddenly cut off by a hand on his mouth.
"Okay, Okay! I understand Potter. You not- Eww! Did you lick me..." He whined and looked at Theo with a disgusted look.
"Maybe! anyway I should probably go... My dad will be wondering where I am, probably-" He smiled a little at Boris and prepared to gather his things.
"Ah, who cares what he think, stay?" Boris said calmly, completely dismissing Theo's father's name. It was obvious that Boris disliked his dad from the way he reacted when Theo mentioned him, although he wasn't sure why he hated him so much. Theo never told Boris what happened on his birthday, or why he skipped school for a week, or even why he began going home earlier everyday. He definitely did not want to burden Boris with any of his secrets especially when he too has personal things happing in his life.
Boris' dad was recently sent to prison due to his... 'activities' in other countries and Boris' aunt was taking care of him. Theo met her a handful of times and Boris spoke fondly of her. It was obviously a good change and he was happy about it. Glad that his friend's life was finally becoming better.
"I... care. I really have to get home, maybe we can hang out tomorrow." Theo glanced down at his watch and furrowed his eyebrows. It was getting quite late and if he wasn't home soon his father would arrive before him. Xandra usually stayed home all day and didn't bother him, but if he wasn't in his bedroom by the time his dad got home it would mean trouble. He usually arrived home by 7 o'clock and it was currently 6:35 PM. It would take 20 minutes to get there if he ran. Luckily enough, if everything went to plan he could make it home just in time.
"Wait! Potter, у меня есть для тебя подарок (I have a gift for you)!" However, before Boris had the chance to give it to him, Theo was gone. He'd ran out of the door and began to make his way home. "Ah, Глупый (Stupid) Potter, глупый (Stupid)..."
Boris could've waited until the next day to present his gift to Theo, however, he's been trying to work his way up to it all week and only just gained to confidence to actually give it to him. If he waited, he wouldn't do it.
That is how he found himself outside Theo's window at 9 o'clock. He was aware that Auntie would be worried, but if he explained the situation she would forgive him.
He grabbed on to a bush and hoisted his leg up on to a ledge to peer into Theo's room. As he sat on the ledge he waited for the younger boy to enter his room and let him in through the window.
He sat there and waited for about 10 minutes before deciding to message him to let him in. However, when he reached for his phone it wasn't there. This confused him for a second before he realised that he left it on his bed at home. He mentally cursed himself in Russian and continued to wait. Luckily, a tree blocked him from the outside world, so any pedestrians on the side of the rode would not see him. This would avoid another police visit.
Now that he casted his mind back, that was the same week that Theo hadn't shown up to school for a week. He understood that the American's dad was angry, but it didn't explain his sudden absence... He shook his head and continued the wait.
After another 5 minutes, Theo finally showed up. Boris was about to knock on the window to request assistance, however, he noticed something strange.
When he finally realised what it was, his blood ran cold and he began to shiver, not from the cold...
