Work Text:
you were in the middle of the forest with your indigo-haired lover: scaramouche. you both laughed as you were staring at him. you always thought you were very lucky to have him. he looked so enchanting, you were always at loss of words when it came to him, nothing else mattered to you now except his shining indigo eyes glistening in the sun and the wide grin he made while talking to you. there were more than words to describe how happy you are to be with him.
after a bit of walking, both of you saw a figure that looked like a mitachurl; scaramouche thought of something mischievous.
"my dear, why don't you try this?"
you looked questionably at him as he removed his hat and pulled up a small, glowing, purple thing out of it: the gnosis.
"you want me...", you pointed at yourself
"...to try this??", and pointed at the gnosis while looking at him again, ambiguously.
"silly, there's no way that would work!", you exclaimed. laughing sarcastically, as well. "just try it!!", he handed it to you, displaying the cheekiest grin he's ever put on his face.
"alright", hesitantly, you say.
you grab it out of his hand and it makes you feel something the moment you touch it. how can such thing hold so much power?
your first instinct was to talk to it, you don't know why, but it just felt right.
"if you hear me, then i just want to say that i hope you trust me as much as you trust scara."
"oh, it will trust you, my dear, what's mine is forever yours now.", he interrupts. and you look back at him with a smile on your face as you approach the creature.
you summon your weapon as it approaches towards you. you inhale deeply and...
you hit it.
it dropped dead on the ground. you stared at it and stared back at your hands. was this the power of a god? you started smiling and smiling became giggling as the giggling evolved into laughing. he started giggling as well and hugged you ever so tightly. and then you stopped. you gave it back to him. after all, it was his. you didn't want him to distrust you.
he was more important than any power you could ever gain.
but out of curiosity, you asked, "does that break like glass when you drop it?"
he smiles. he loves it when you ask him curious questions, no matter how stupid it gets.
"i don't know, do you wanna try?"
"babe! no! I'm not going to do such a thing!" you half-screamed and he, once again, burst out laughing.
"I'm joking, no, it does not"
and then comfortable silence grew between you both.
"that felt different and...nice.", you told him.
"you like how that went?"
"...yeah. i did, but it's yours, not mine.", you smiled.
he looked at you, looked away, and looked back at you again as if he had something he wanted to say; he stayed silent until he decided to speak.
"well, if you stay with me forever...", he grabs something that looks like a small, dark blue, box.
"and...", he begins to get down on one knee,
the chimes from the jiggling of his hat can be heard and you put your hand on your mouth. you started to tear up.
"marry me? and we can be...archons...together...?"
"yes!", you practically screamed and when down to hug him and he started chuckling.
"you're not supposed to do that! I'm supposed to slide this on your finger first!"
your laughs were mixed in with your sobs but you gave him your hand, anyway. he slid the ring on your finger and got up to kiss you.
and that was the moment that you knew:
wherever you go with him, you were at home because
he was your home.
and you were his.
