Work Text:

“All I’m saying, is that if Starcourt was still around then it would be awesome to have our date there!”

“Lucas, we’ve literally been through this a million times already!” Max exclaimed. It was getting pretty clear that she was tired of this ongoing conversation.

“Starcourt was owned by the Russians, it was just a cover-up for their underground base thingy.” Will explained for — you guessed it — the millionth time.

Lucas was probably still trying to explain his point, but the other three weren’t focussed on that anymore. They’d noticed something else, they’d noticed a-

“FUNFAIR!” Max yelled, running away from the others in direction of it, Will following not far behind.

*Why the hell can he run so fast?* Mike thought to himself, sighing exasperatedly. He then turned to Lucas, about to say something about it, but Lucas had also started running.

“Oh, you son-of-a-b1tch, seriously, Lucas? Oh- sh1t, COME BACK, YOU MOTHERFVCKERS, YOU KNOW I CAN’T RUN!” The constant cursing was something you had to get used to when you were friends with Mike, who was now chasing the three teens.

About a minute later, an extremely tired Mike caught up with Will, Max and Lucas, who were standing at the entrance of the funfair, gazing at it in awe. Max broke this silence with an extremely loud:

“Alright, kids! We’ve got $50 altogether and 3 hours ‘til sunset, what are we doing first?”

Will, Mike and Lucas assumed this was a rhetorical question (it was) and made their way through the front gate. As they walked, Mike turned to Max with a look of confusion on his face.

“Wait, if we’ve got $50, and me and Will brought $15, each, and Lucas brought $20, does that mean you brought no money?”

The redhead responded to this with
“Yep. Lucas will pay for everything I want. Won’t you, Lucas?”

Lucas simply nodded, Max was a hard person to disagree with. Will laughed. In all honesty, he really enjoyed seeing the way Max and Lucas acted with each other, since it was so different to how he was with Mike. Mike picked up on how willing Lucas was to pay for Max, and awkwardly spluttered, “Yeah, a-and I’ll pay for anything that you want, Will.”
Will just smiled in response and said he didn’t have to do that.

“We’re absolutely winning ‘cutest couple’ in the yearbook this year.” Max stated with a smile.

“What? That’s bullsh1t, you literally just forced him to pay for you!” Mike exclaimed.

Max replied, “But we’re still adorable. And besides, I didn’t force him! He said he would.”

Mike and Will simply rolled their eyes affectionately at this, before deciding that they should go on the huge spinning octopus ride. So, the four teens headed in the direction of that ride, payed (Max with Lucas’s money, Will with Mike’s, although only reluctantly) and got in the queue. The queue only lasted for a minute or so, so Mike and Max couldn’t do much bickering.

The ride only went on for a few minutes, but in that few minutes, Max, Will and Mike all managed to burst their eardrums, or it felt like it at least with the amount of screaming Lucas did.

“Y’know we’re gonna tease you about that forever now, right?” Will said, laughing with Max and Mike.

“Yeah, and we’re gonna tell Dustin, and El, and Steve, and Robin, and Erica…” Mike added, continuing to list names.

“I swear to God, Mike, I will kill you if you tell Erica!” Lucas threatened, jokingly. Well, it was probably a joke at least.

The four continued their double date, getting snacks, drinks, going on all the rides, including the ferris wheel. At the top, the two couples shared a tender kiss to end the night. The ride finished and they reached the ground again, Max entwining her hand with Lucas’s, Will with Mike’s. It had been a perfect date, and they just couldn’t wait to do it again.
