Long Before Time

Summary:

Lloyd, Wu, and Garmadon meet with an old friend to learn about the First Spinjitzu Master and are given a gift.
The friend's past with him might be darker than they realize.

(I can't summarize)

Notes:

The first four chapters will be kind of separated from the others. You'll understand why after you read (hopefully)

Chapter 1: Mystique

Chapter Text

Ch. 1
Mystique

"Master Wu? Dad?" The blond haired boy entered the room.

A slight sigh could be heard from the younger of the brothers. Atop Wu's head was only the blue cap he usually kept under his straw hat, now left abandoned beside the couch.
"What is it, Lloyd?"

"Both of you seem uhh… pretty tense lately."

"Whatever would give you that idea." Garmadon cut in, red eyes showing annoyance at his son’s intrusion.

Lloyd gestured to the usually kept room now strewn with old scrolls, newspapers, and several dirty teacups.

"Everything is fine Lloyd," Garmadon groans in response. "Just my brother has no idea how to clean."

"I KNOW HOW TO-" Wu took a deep breath, "-sorry Lloyd, me and your father are… well…mourning."

"Mourning?"

"Huh! You might be," Garmadon said coldly. "I, however, am doing quite fine with talk of his death."
Lloyd looked at them concerned. 'Whose death?' He wondered.

"Me and your father began talking about… our father's death and are at a disagreement," Wu sensed his nephew's confusion.

"It's been thousands of years and you're still mopey. It's pathetic, honestly."

"HE WAS OUR FATHER!"

"You were always the favorite and you KNOW it!" Garmadon countered.

"Okay… maybe we should all calm down a little," Lloyd said, ignored completely.

"OUR FATHER CARED FOR THE BOTH OF US!"

"IF HE DID HE WOULDN'T HAVE LEFT ME TO FEND FOR MYSELF!" His hands ignited into purple flames as Wu grabbed his staff.
Lloyd knew he needed to stop this immediately.
"Both of you cut it out!" He yelled as he jumped between them. "We just got the monastery rebuilt, we don't need you destroying it again," he directed at his father.

"Tell that to him!" Garmadon snapped back.

"Master Wu, you always told us that fighting never solves anything."

"Tell that to him," Wu seethed, tightening the grip on his staff.

"Clearly, you both have things to say to one another, with your words, not your fists."

"I am not speaking to him," Garmadon turned his head away defiantly.

"Neither am I," Wu did the same. Ironic considering both brothers claim on a daily basis to be nothing alike.

Lloyd sighed then remembered Nya's suggestion from earlier. "How about I take you both to a tea shop? You both like tea."

"I'm not going to some pathetic tea shop."

"There's a new one, and it's not pathetic, it has all 5 star reviews." Lloyd said, pulling up the website Nya gave him and showed them both his phone.

"There's a one star review," Garmadon commented, stepping closer.

"Wha- oh, that just says, 'Great tea but the lady who runs it is scary as s- … scary things.'"

"That's not what it said," Garmadon mumbled with amusement.

"Anyway, it's clearly good and it's only been open for a week! So let's go!"

"I am not going anywhere with him," Wu complained.

"As much as it pains me to say this… I agree,"

"Guys…c'mon, it'll be fun?"

"No," they said in union.

Lloyd sighed again.
"I'll go check it out, and if it's as good as people say, then you two are coming, alright?"

"Lloyd I-,"

"Alright?" Lloyd hissed, interrupting Wu's excuse, his tone reminding him of Misako.

"Alright," he answered timidly.

"Good, I'll see you all in a minute," The boy in green called out as he left. "And no fighting!"

After a slight drive on the new green and gold bike Pixal built, Lloyd arrived at the shop.
It was small and slightly sandwiched between two other buildings, but its light brown and dark reddish wood design made it seem very homey.
It had a small, neon sign that read, 'Mystique.' An interesting name but Lloyd's uncle did own one titled 'Steep Wisdom.'

It seemed to be as good as the reviews said as there were already a few people there when Lloyd stepped inside. The slight jingle of the bell announcing his presence.

He looked around a little bit and felt a sense of familiarity but brushed it off as Deja Vu since he had never been to this side of town before, except for the occasional fight.

He decided to look at the menu for what to order first before getting in line.
He eventually decided to go with an order of Green tea and Jasmine tea. Green being his favorite, knowing Wu likes it as well, and Jasmine being his father's.

The last person had just been rung up as soon as Lloyd had gotten in line. He gave a quiet sigh of relief, as he hates waiting. Then gave another sigh in thanks that no one had recognized one of the city's greatest heroes.
"I'll have-," he began before stopping himself.
The woman behind the register had gray hair tied up in a bun, a straw hat slung on her back, and her eyes were a dark shade of gray but what truly gave the woman away, was the familiar mischievous smirk as she began to speak.

"Hello young Garmadon."
