Solstice flew over the cold ocean with icebergs full of seals cruising around slowly. Solstice flew with her eldest daughter- Stormcloud.
Stormcloud had a red cloak on over herself. She talked to her mom in their own made up language, speaking loudly as the wind howled in their ears. It felt like piercing ice shards in their eyes as they lowered their heads a little more as they continued to fly. “Fuck.”
Solstice snarled to herself as she angled downward, Stormcloud noticed and followed. “What are we going to do with the news?” Solstice hissed as she lands on the icy shores of the morningwing kingdom.
“With the queen’s fiancé?” Storm asked as she walked forward to nudge her mother. “Yes. Him. How are we going to tell her? I told her I would keep him safe.” Solstice hissed with a glower to her daughter. Stormcloud dipped her head to avoid the deadly gaze her mother had. “Of course.” She stated
Solstice frowned as she pushed through the ice and snow with her daughter following along. Cunning was out hunting near where they were, stalking a family of polar bears. Cunning suddenly dove down and attacked the largest polar bear, killing it and then leaving the cubs who were half grown.
Solstice and Stormcloud pushed through the snow, headed to the gates of the palace, going to the entrance of the massive morningwing palace. She and her daughter walked through, waving her daughter away.
Solstice hurried to the throne room, composing herself as she walked through. “Queen glacier. I apologize, but I bring bad news.“ Solstice said. Glacier stiffened and sat up, looking at solstice with an immediate nervous look. She could hear her heart beat in her ears. “Armageddon.. he’s dead. I’m so sorry.” Solstice said with sympathy in her voice.
Glacier stared at her, trying to see if solstice was lying. Her heartbeat quickened as she began to hyperventilate, she swore she could hear broken sobs over her heartbeat beating rapidly.
Oh.
Oh.
The broken sobs and yelling was coming from her, she realized. She let a cough out as she continued to hyperventilate, sobbing on her throne. Her mother, former Queen Auburn- would say that her useless tears wouldn’t be needed on such a precious throne, one known for greatness.
Glacier had been shattered to pieces by just 6 words that came from Solstice’s mouth. “NO!! He can’t be dead? Right? Right?!” Glacier croaked, sobbing. Her mother would tell her that she looked ugly in this moment.
Solstice stared at Glacier, the queen known to be strong, was broken, shattered. “WE WERE SUPPOSED TO GET MARRIED!!” Glacier sobbed, grabbing her face as she did.
