Work Text:
Mari places down the blow dryer and inspects her hair further. Feeling from the roots of her hair down to its end.
Perfectly dry!
After putting the blow dryer back in the basket in the bathroom cabinet, she slips on her undies along with her nightgown and exits the bathroom for her soon approaching bedtime.
Going into her bedroom, Mari makes her way to her dirty clothes basket to place her towel into, but she’s hearing something off… The noise is coming from Sunny’s bed.
He’s hyperventilating from something.
Mari quickly rushes to her brother, dropping her wet towel on the floor in the process. “Wake up Sunny! You’re just having a really bad dream!”
She grabs him by the shoulders and starts shaking him into reality.
…
Sunny opens his eyes and finds his big sister hovering over him with her hands gripping his shoulders. She pulls him into a hug the moment she notices him awaken.
“It’s okay… shh…” Mari coos. “I’m here to save you, okay little brother?”
“Mhm…” Sunny says while nodding his head, still shaking a little bit from the nightmare.
Without any resistance, Sunny found himself being dragged up out of his bed into Mari’s bed, where she then slipped in herself.
“You should sleep in my bed tonight, okay? All of your nightmares are scared of me.” Mari smiles after that statement and starts coddling Sunny in her arms.
“Okay…” Sunny says, slightly muffled from Mari’s body.
The siblings go quiet from there, and he quickly falls back asleep within minutes in the safety that Mari provides him.
“Sleep tight little brother.” Mari lets go of Sunny and starts making her attempt to fall asleep herself.
Last night was okay. Sunny spent his dreams playing with Abbi, Meido, Tako, and Uni after Mari had saved him from that bad dream of his. They are fun people. If only Mari could meet them too…
The bed feels a little empty than it should be to Sunny. He extends his hand and starts patting around where Mari had slept with him last night, but she seems to be missing.
Heading down the stairs, Sunny’s nose is starting to pick up that something is burnt… is everything alright down there?
Sunny peeks his head into the kitchen to examine the scene in front of him.
There Mari was, standing at the oven watching oil completely crisp an egg into charcoal.
“M-Mari…? Is everything okay?” Sunny pauses before taking another whiff of the burnt smell lingering around in the air. “I think… I think it’s burnt…”
“It is.” Mari flatly responds.
She then turns the knob to turn the stove off, and removes the pan off the stove, keeping it balanced as to not let the scorching hot oil pour out onto the floor.
“You know, Sunny… I want you to know that I hate you.”
Sunny takes a step back and carefully looks up at Mari who certainly had a good amount of inches on him. “What…?”
“I’ve always hated you. So does Hero. So does Kel. And so does Aubrey and Basil. No one likes you.”
“I-I-” Sunny took a step back, unsure if this is a cruel joke. Mari has never acted like this to him. “M-Mari I-”
Mari cuts off his whimpering with a simple “Shut it,” and looks deeply at the frying pan. “You are so miserable to be around.”
In an instant before Sunny could react, Mari flings the burning oil and charred object off of the pan she used to cook with in his general vicinity.
Headshot. He started screaming in agonizing pain as the oil started cooking his skin and morphing it into a bubbly mass of blisters running down his face and down his neck. It burns so bad, he would rather roll around on the ground screaming while holding his hand in his face rather than run away from his impending doom, which Mari is soon to deliver.
Turning the inside of the frying pan around to face Sunny as to not splash the small droplets of oil that remain on the pan onto herself, she kicks Sunny in the stomach into the corner of the kitchen and begins pounding his face in with the frying pan.
“I hate you!”
Mari smashes Sunny’s face in again. Sunny’s screams start to weaken as he slowly drifts into the state that is unconsciousness.
“You are the worst brother anyone could have asked for!”
She tilts the frying pan sideways, and makes a direct hit that lines up with Sunny’s mouth, knocking most of his teeth in or cracking them apart completely.
Sunny’s screams seems to have been muffled by him choking on something. Mari responds with a swift kick in his stomach again and one of his molars with the roots still attached goes flying out of his mouth.
Again, Mari makes a direct hit on Sunny’s face, and he falls into unconsciousness.
“Wake up. I’m not done with you.” She demands, dropping the frying pan onto the ground. It filled the whole house with a loud crash when it hit the floor.
She pauses despite knowing that Sunny obviously doesn’t hear her right now.
“Wake. Up.” She groans out, her irritation with Sunny rising.
A barrage of kicks from Mari starts pounding Sunny’s face in, still slightly too hot to touch from the oil. At this point, Sunny is no longer identifiable.
“Wake up! Wake up! Wake up!” Mari screams.
She starts taking in deep breaths to calm down.
In and out. In and out.
After getting her anger out, she crouches down to the corpse laying in front of her, holds two fingers up to Sunny’s neck to check his pulse.
No pulse. Sunny has died.
She inspects her finger and inspects the mixture of warm oil and blood from his neck. She soon makes her way to the sink to wash her hands.
Satisfied with the results of her actions, she opens the nearby cabinet under the sink to grab a garbage bag.
“Let me take care of you.” Mari says with a big and happy smile on her face, getting ready to stuff Sunny’s corpse in a garbage bag.
