Sometimes, Casey and Donnie just wanted to spend time together.
Donnie would leave the lair at the start of the night. Leo would give him a knowing look. Raph would roll his eyes. Mikey would snicker and every so often make a teasing comment. Donnie was usually too happy to come up with a retaliation.
Casey would sneak out to the roof of his apartment building and wait. He’d scroll through his phone mindlessly until Donnie arrived, landing on the edge of the roof silently. Casey would always notice, no matter how quiet Donnie was.
Casey would sit up straighter and wave. Donnie would smile and come sit beside him. They’d watch some TV show or movie and make jabs at eachother. They were meaningless insults, a way of showing affection really.
Slowly, they’d move closer until they were holding hands. Then leaning against eachother. Then cuddling. They were warm despite the wind that inevitably blew across the top of the building.
After hours of sitting anf talking, they would stand to leave. Casey would hold the sides of Donnie’s face and lean up to kiss him. Donnie would put his hands on the back of Casey’s waist and kiss back. They would hug and part for the night with soft ‘I love you’s.
Donnie would walk back into the lair and into his lab. He would work on his machines but even with the distraction his lips would still tingle with the kiss. He would smile and continue with his task.
Casey would flop onto his bed . He’d go over the night in his head and feel warm inside. He would fall asleep with contentment spreading through his chest.
