In the House of Madness

Summary:

The entirety of Devildom knows of your return. How could they not? You're a permanent resident of the House of Lamentation and it's got people talking. However, the terms of your return are a mystery... outside of the family that is. Diavolo and The 7 Avatars of Sin have welcomed you back as you are in a serious relationship with Lucifer, the Avatar of Pride. With all your friends supporting your love, you were more than happy to abandon the human world to spend every moment possible with the brothers you grew to love. Lucifer may be a serious and responsible person but you are not above getting into trouble with his brothers and dammit he loves it.

This story has no plot. It’s just fun times with my boys but you’re dating Lucifer. The reader will have some backstory sprinkled in but nothing huge.

Chapter 1: Return to Form

Chapter Text

There was a satisfying click as your suitcase opened. Smiling was already hurting your cheeks, as you hadn’t been anything less than jovial since you arrived in the familiar manor. The house was alive from the second you arrived. Every Avatar surrounded you, asking you questions and bugging you about the months that you had been gone… as well as your sudden return. It wasn’t until the room door closed that you got peace.

Lucifer leaned coolly against his room door, the eldest demon watching as you unpacked your things. He seemed proud… but that wasn’t new. That was how he generally carried himself. A strand of black hair fell into his view and he flicked it away with a tilt of his head. Under his gaze, you were much slower in taking out your things. The wild atmosphere of your arrival was gone, replaced by complete silence.

“...Were you hoping to be unpacked by dinner?” The demon’s baritone caught you off guard. You flinched, amusing him. “If so, you might want to pick up speed.”

“R-Right… I just… Are you sure my stuff will fit in here?” You asked, looking around the room. While spacious, his boudoir had a modern and minimalist feel. You didn’t want to disrupt his organization. There was one bit of furniture you didn’t recall, a tall armoire. It was an ash grey, adorned with skull imagery.  “... Is that one new? I don’t ever remember seeing it.”

“Astute of you,” He complimented, “It’s yours.” He walked over to the wardrobe, grabbing the handle. “It’s magic, you know. I thought you’d like it. It will hold all your things effortlessly.”

“All my things?” You put down the shirt you were holding, scoffing as you walked to the piece. “You know this suitcase isn’t my only stuff. It’s just going to get me through the night. My boxes should arrive tomorrow-”

“I know.” He cut you off, gesturing once again to the wardrobe. He opened it and you were startled to see the space. The free-standing closet was opened to reveal a deep corridor. A walk-in closet. You looked behind the wardrobe you were looking in… but it looked so normal. Lucifer just sighed. “Magic, dear.”

“...It’s still weird to look at, you know.” Your antics never failed to get a chuckle from the demon. A kiss was planted on your cheek soon after and Lucifer strode to the bed where you left your suitcase. “...So much space. I don’t think I even own enough clothes to fill it…”

“We can fix that.” He said with a smirk. He delved into your things, grabbed some clothes, and walked into your closet. “Let me help you get things settled. Are you excited?”

“Eh… not exactly.” You mumbled. He heard you, of course, and expected the nerves. “I mean… this is new territory for me. I’m more nervous than anything.”

“This wouldn’t be your first time sharing a room or bed with a demon.” Lucifer pointed out. You wandered to him, taking note of the very particular way he was folding your clothes and arranging them in the drawers. “What are you so scared about? Because it’s me?”

“Because we’re dating now!” You said it like it was obvious, almost angry that he didn’t consider that. “I’m sharing a bed with you and we’re in a relationship. This is different than the exchange program.” He merely smiled. He finished putting up the few clothes he grabbed, walking out to grab more. You sat on the bed as he grabbed another stack, kicking your feet as he continued to work. Putting your clothes up yourself was out of the question. You’d just fold it wrong and your anal boyfriend would refold it the ‘right’ way anyway.  “...Aren’t you nervous?”

“...Hm… Not really. In the year you were here we had found ourselves in more… compromising positions.” He said with a chuckle. “I’m sure sharing a bed with my girlfriend won’t be more complicated or nervewracking than anything we already went through.”

“I guess that’s true.” There was a knock at Lucifer's door and he just sighed. He had no intention of answering it. You wanted to… but you weren’t sure if that was allowed. Despite this being your room too now, you weren’t sure if you could just open the door for anyone. “

“Come on! Open up! Quit hogging her all to yourself!” Mammon. Of course, Mammon would be pounding on the door and being annoyed. You smiled, warmed by the actions of the demon. He had grown on you. All seven brothers had… though, one more than the others. As your mind wandered so did your eyes… right to your boyfriend. He was quick to notice.

“...No, I’m not letting him in. He’ll see you at dinner.”

“I’m excited to eat… Food from my world didn’t really taste the same after my year here.”

“You’re excited about food but not about being with me? Did I confess my love to Beel?” He joked. The demon finished putting your things up, closing the closet, and joining you on the bed. He grabbed your chin, forcing you to look into his devilish eyes. “... I missed you…”

“You contacted me every day,” You said with a scoff. He didn’t say a thing, just smiling. “We were in correspondence from the second I left your sight.”

“Do you think I’d just let the most beautiful woman I’ve ever known walk out of my life? Unthinkable…”

“Dammit, why do you have to be so charming?”

“I haven’t had a proper kiss yet. It would be our first one… of the relationship, that is.”

“Then kiss me.”

“I thought you’d never ask.” This banter felt endless as you inched toward one another, your lips ghosting over his. When contact was made, his hand was immediately in the small of your back. A little groan in the kiss made him laugh and just as soon as you were in his embrace he was pulling away. “We should get to dinner… The others missed you terribly-”

“They do everything terribly-” You were caught off by a genuine guffaw, feeling proud to make your boyfriend laugh so boisterously.

“So, Why is Y/n back in RAD and living here again?” Mammon had been asking for about 10 minutes, sitting in the dining room with the others. He was across from a very hungry Beelzebub, who was drooling at the sight of the food before him. However, they couldn’t start until you and Lucifer came to dinner. “Is it another exchange thing? I mean, don’t get me wrong. It’s cool she’s back… not that we HAD to have her back-”

“Mammom, I’m nursing a headache, cut the tsundere shit.” Leviathan groaned, massaging his head and messing up his bright blue hair. “Just admit you like having Y/n around.”

“Honestly, Mammon, weren’t you listening?” The pretty demon began, batting his eyelashes at his brother and ignoring Levi entirely. “She’s dating Lucifer.”

“Yeah but… so??” Mammon’s confusion made the blond demon next to him roll his eyes. “Am I missing something here? Can someone just answer me instead of pretending I should know the answer?”

“In the event that Y/n and Lucifer end up married, she needs the education from RAD. Not to mention other steps that must be taken. Instead of waiting for them to get engaged to start all that, Diavolo thought it would be better for her to do all that now.” Satan was making sense but looked around to pass the buck. He didn’t want to do ALL the explaining. His brother to his right was quick to help.

“Yeah,” The sleepy demon yawned, wiping his eye as he fought to keep himself awake. Belphagor stretched out his back, glancing at the entryways to the dining room. Where the hell were you two? “If they end up engaged in the future then she’ll already have the education she needs and all that secret auxiliary stuff they won’t tell us about will already be done.”

“I DO wonder what steps must be taken when a human and a demon marry. I mean, it’s never been done before,” The pretty demon beamed. Asmodeus was drumming up the most dramatic voice possible. “Forbidden love! So strong that it transcended realms!”

“Hi, guys!” You couldn’t help but call out to them once you passed the threshold of the dining room. Lucifer, ever the reserved one, simply smiled. “Ready to eat?”

“DAMN, YES!” Beel complained, immediately grabbing what looked like a bird's leg. He choked down on it, devouring it and the bone in one bit. Next to him, Asmodeus flinched.

“AT LEAST WARN ME! What if that bone had splintered!? What if a piece went flying and was flung into my illustrious visage?!”

“Ill.. illustrious?” Beel mumbled, his mouth full of food. The spread was magnificent. It had to be. The Avatar of greed would make quick work of most of it. Lucifer took a seat across from you. It was flattering, considering he usually preferred to sit at the head of the table. “Ill… lust… You mean like drawings?”

“No, you’re thinking of Illustrations.” Levi started. He began to eat, much slower than everyone else and still holding his head. “Illustrious is like uh… like a mirage and stuff like that-”

“No, that’s an illusion.” Belphaghor corrected. “Illustrious is when something is hard to obtain-”

“No, that’s Elusive. Illustrious is when you’re cold and distant.”

“No, that’s Aloof.” You added, earning a raised brow from your boyfriend. You met Asmodeus’s eyes and knew what you had to do. You immediately nudged Mammon. “Illustrious is another word for a dickfor.”

“...What’s a dickfor?”

“Oh, Mammon,” Asmo began, hushed snickering overtaking the table. “Would you like me to teach you?”

“H-Hey! Hold on!” Unable to hold it, Levi laughed despite his raging headache. “You assholes!”

“You walked right into it, I don’t believe it.” Belphagor and Beel broke down at the same time. Asmo didn’t laugh quite as loud and suddenly, simply chuckling to himself. Mammon was quick to stand up, defending his intelligence to his family. Lucifer simply shook his head… but he did like seeing you interacting with the family. Despite the chaos, he missed this domestic bliss… and he was looking forward to more of it.
