Now that they finally made it to the hut that old-man Jaune called his house, all of the girls realised that they haven’t slept in ages.
Ruby was first to leave them, her aura radiating hopelessness. Yang tried to stop and comfort her, and while she hugged her good night, she still thought it wasn’t enough.
Weiss stayed up for a little longer, but when Jaune told her that her bed for the night is ready, she left Blake and Yang immediately. She might have been the most tired of them all, but also the best at hiding it.
With all of their teammates gone, the new couple stayed by the fire talking, giggling, but also expressing their worries. Of course they were tired too, they just wouldn’t be able to fall asleep now while riding that post-kiss high. Yang couldn’t believe that she can hold Blake’s hand whenever she wants now. It’s been only few hours, but she could confidently say that this might have been the happiest day since years.
And to Blake this was all of her dreams coming true. Her being an avid enjoyer of fairy tales only made it better. She thought that there was no better way to confess than what happened to them.
Finally, the sleep got the upper hand, and they decided to ask Jaune for help with finding a place to sleep.
„Oh” said Jaune, completely unbothered „you can sleep on the couch in the living room, it will fit two people”.
„Wait, together?” Yang asked in disbelief as she thought about the possibility of sleeping with Blake even though they were a couple not even a full day.
„Okay, we will manage, good night!” Blake exclaimed without a second thought, grabbing Yang by the hand and leading them to the living room. She was not afraid anymore and she was not letting that opportunity slip away so easily.
Yang was completely out of it, she hasn’t even processed what Jaune said yet, and she had to deal with Blake’s eagerness too. Not that she didn’t like it, she just wasn’t as brave when it came to realationship stuff as her.
„Um… So are you okay with us sleeping together” Yang asked, afraid she was crossong some boundaries.
„Yang” Blake got closer to Yang, grabbing her cheek „You don’t have to be afraid. I want to be with you. That means there is nothing more than being as close to you as I can”
Yang was speechless. Blake, being the romantic that she is, was quick to make the most beautiful sentences she has ever heard. She breathed deeply, and said:
„Then let’s get to bed!” and smiled.
Blake laughed audibly, making Yang blush, and they proceeded to make the bed.
When everything was done, and they changed into shirts from Jaune that were way too big, Blake finally realised the implications of her actions. Now she was the one to get flustered. Both girls were standing, looking at each other.
„We can do it together, so it’s easier” said Yang, grabbing Blake’s hand and leading her to bed. They got under the blankets, Yang closer to the wall.
The silence was killing both of them. Blake knew that they had to break it, so she just asked.
„Yang… can I hug you?” They were both so cautious about everything, which is only natural after what they have been through. But Yang didn’t hesitate for a second she just turned to face Blake and smiled, nodding.
Blake moved and laid her head on Yang’s chest, her hands around her. They stayed like that for a couple minutes.
„I’m so happy” Yang broke another moment of silence. „Even with everything that is happening right now, I’m so glad we can enjoy a moment like this together. We deserve peace” She was petting Blake’s head, when she turned to say.
„I love you.” Just like that. She could say that without any consequences, looking into Yang’s eyes.” I loved you for quite some time now. I am also happy, but what is more important to me is that you are happy. Because when you fell, I felt like falling too. And your safety and happiness is my priority.”
„Blake…” she said and leaned to kiss her. It was soft and gentle, but they kissed for a while.
„Good night Yang. I can’t wait to wake up next to you”
„Good night” Yang hesitated but she knew she trusts Blake. „Good night honey. I love you too”.
And both of them slept peacefully for the whole night like they haven’t slept in years.
