Soap really didn’t mean to get found out the way that he did, honest! The thing he had going on with Ghost was good. He wasn’t about to go bragging about sleeping with the man. He told the other that it was for privacy, but Soap knew in the back of his mind that it was more possessive than that. He wanted Ghost all to himself, he wasn’t about to go sharing information about what they did in their free time.
They didn’t have a label yet. That was how they liked it. But it was clear to the both of them that they were exclusive. When they were pent up, they came to each other for relief. When they needed someone to be there, they came to each other. On more than one occasion either of them had collapsed into the others arms at the end of a long day.
It wasn’t just sex, it was a connection. If they were being honest, both of them were a bit afraid to put a name to it just yet. That part didn’t matter, they both knew anyway, and this was the way they liked it.
So yeah, Soap hadn’t really said anything to their Captain. Because honestly how do you casually say ‘Hey Cap how are you doing? Also did you know I’m piping your favorite Lieutenant?’
Absolutely not. Soap valued his life thank you very much. It was a secret… until it wasn’t. Which is exactly where Soap found himself at this moment.
He had been sneaking out of Ghost’s room in the early morning. No one was ever awake at this time, too early even for their task force. He hadn’t bothered to put a shirt on as he made his way back to his room. He hadn’t bothered to look down to the other end of the hallway.
Ghost’s door was just about to click closed when he heard a startled grunt from behind him. Soap froze, the hairs on the back of his neck standing up. He did not want to turn around, he did not want to even guess who was behind him right now. Whoever it was had to have an eyeful of the marks on Soap’s back. Deep scratches, scored into his skin by Simon’s fingernails that the man had inflicted on him as he had been pounding into the man last night. There was no mistaking exactly what Soap had been up to in that room.
Soap took a deep breath and began to walk again, trying to be casual. Perhaps whoever it was would just pretend they didn’t see anything. Maybe he would get lucky, and they would be too scared of Soap and Ghost’s combined reputations to even say anything. Oh fuck he hoped that whoever it was didn’t tell Price.
He didn’t get more than a few steps before the person behind him spoke up, “Soap? What the actual fuck is going on?”
Fuck. Oh fuck! Price was behind him. Every single nerve in Soap’s body went on high alert. He had never been someone to back away from a challenge, but he knew that this was not a fight he wanted to have. He wasn’t proud of it but as soon as he heard Price’s voice, that tone, he bolted.
He thought fuck it and ran. His still bare feet smacking against the tile floor as he ran as fast as he could this early in the morning. He didn’t even bother looking behind him. He knew he was caught, he knew he was guilty and running did nothing to help his case, but in that moment it was instinctual.
He didn’t even make it to the end of the hallway before he was slammed into the wall. A hand had grabbed his upper arm and spun him around pushing his bare back to the wall. He grimaced as he met the furious expression of Price right in his face. The man wasn’t as tall as Ghost, but he was sure taller than Soap.
He gulped, he figured he might have ten minutes to live if he was lucky. He had been fucking Price’s golden boy and he knew that the man would not be pleased. It was worth it but damn this was not how he thought he would go out. He had thought that he would die on the battle field or in a failed explosions test at the very least.
Price studied his face and Soap could see the moment that he determined his guilt, it was instant. The Captain’s face was bright red and he looked pissed. The man opened the door to their right and pushed Soap inside. It just so happened to be the man’s office.
The lights flicked on and Soap winced. He guessed that, if he had been wearing a shirt, Price’s hands would be lifting him up by the collar of it. As it was, he was underdressed and had a lot of evidence covering his skin of his guilt.
Price took in a deep breath, trying and failing to keep his voice from yelling, “Did you fuck my Lieutenant?!”
Johnny, ever the quick thinker, responded, “Uhhh no?”
Price’s gaze flared even brighter, and he swore that he saw steam coming out of the man’s ears. He poked a finger into Soap’s chest so hard it hurt. Soap backed up until he was corralled against the wall, “Did you fuck my Lieutenant?”
Soap could not look this man in the eyes. He knew that Price was like a father to them all, but Ghost had a special place in Price’s heart. Ghost was his favorite, they had been through so much together. Everyone could see that Price was protective of the man. Ghost had been through so much, no one could blame him, but god help the poor soul that got on the wrong side of that duo. And unfortunately, right now, that poor soul was Soap.
“I may have done something like that… sir…”
And then Price blew up. It didn’t seem to matter that it was four in the morning, he was then screaming at the top of his lungs in Soap’s face. Johnny was bright red at this point, but he kept his face straight as the man screamed at him. He was not about to set the man off anymore by having uncontrolled facial expressions.
“ARE YOU OUT OF YOUR GOD DAMN MIND? Are you fucking serious Sergeant” he fumed, “How long has this been going on? No! I do not want to know that. You know you have done some stupid shit before, but this takes the fucking cake. I am at a complete loss for words!”
Soap stood at attention at his Captain seethed. Despite being at a lack for words, the man drew in a breath and Soap really didn’t think he was going to stop screaming for a long time. He clenched his stomach and took a slow breath.
The only form of comfort he had was that Price might not kill him. At least not right here and now. But even that was probably a fifty-fifty shot. He looked extraordinarily mad, and Johnny really wasn’t helping his own case, he figured standing there without a shirt on and the evidence all over him wasn’t doing any good. The man’s words still hadn’t stopped as he focused back in.
“- not to mention the fraternization laws! You know if we were still working under Sheppard and the States’ UCMJ you would be out of here faster than you could blink. You are so fucking lucky we don’t work for that bastard anymore. What was going on in that thick fucking skull of yours Sergeant? You can’t just go around fucking your superior officers, boy! Y-”
“Officer,” Soap interrupted, he was already in the hole, might as well make sure it was clear why he was there.
“What?!” Price shouted back at him, almost in surprise.
Soap, the picture of military bearing aside from the missing shirt, stayed perfectly still as he spoke with his chest. Good to be clear and loud in times like these, “Superior officer, sir. I’m only fucking the one. Officer, not officers, sir.”
“SOAP I SWEAR TO GOD IF YOU AREN’T OUT OF MY OFFICE IN THE NEXT FIVE SECONDS YOU WILL NOT MAKE IT OUT OF HERE ALIVE-”
Soap did not in fact stick around to find out how willing the Captain was to carry through on that threat and bolted out of the room. His bare feet smacked against the cold tile as he sprinted away. He almost rammed into Simon who was standing in the hallway looking like he just woke up.
Johnny skidded to a stop, the man looked absolutely adorable. On instinct alone he stopped and grabbed the man’s face pulling him into an intense kiss. He heard Price’s yelling reach a crescendo as the man chased after Soap and exited the office, likely getting an eyeful of Johnny’s actions.
Ghost pulled away sharply, looking at Johnny confused. Soap smiled up at him, “Just needed a goodbye kiss my love. Price is about to kill me.”
He broke away to sprint down the hallway as he heard Price approach, “Don’t mourn for too long Simon!”
“W- hold on Johnny,” Ghost exclaimed, grabbing his bicep tightly and swinging him around as he tried to take off.
As well built as Johnny was, he was still no match for Simon. When he realized he couldn’t get away he hid behind the man’s back. Surely Price wouldn’t hurt Simon to get to him. Right?
Simon, who still looked startled finally looked up to see Price. His eyes grew comically wide when he saw the man with a seething expression burning in his eyes, bright with intent and his ka-bar in his hand.
Simon’s hand came up to halt the man, “Whoa whoa whoa! Price cool it!”
“Simon let me go!” Soap shouted.
“Let me get him son,” Price said at the same time.
Simon, who looked frazzled and confused, decided to put his foot down and stop this madness. He lashed out, somehow grabbing the ka-bar from Price and leveling it at the man. His grip shaking Johnny into silence.
“ENOUGH,” he boomed, both men stilled listening to him intently, “Both of you will behave. We are all going to calm down and talk this through like adults. Price you are going to my office. Sit down and take a breath. Wait there, patiently.”
Price immediately made a sound of protest and Ghost leveled him with a glare and the knife, cutting him off, “Johnny is going to go get a shirt so we can have a conversation like adults. So go to my office and cool the fuck off.”
Price, properly scolded, ducked his head and slunk off to Simon’s office. Simon watched him go before slowly turning to Johnny and looking down at him with a scowl.
Johnny did his best to not shrink under the withering gaze. He gave a hesitant smile, “I’m sorry Si, I didn’t mean to get caught. Honest. I really did think he was going to kill me though.”
Simon’s face broke into a fond smile that he was obviously trying to suppress. He rolled his eyes as he ruffled Johnny’s mohawk, “You little shit. Really had to taunt him by saying officer not officers? Not the most helpful clarification.”
Johnny perked up and stood on the tips of his toes pressing a quick kiss to Simon’s cheek, “Needed to make sure if I was going to die it was gonnae be for the right reasons LT. If I’m to be murdered for piping a superior officer I’m gonnae make damn sure its clear who I’m piping. Can’t have any confusion on that one.”
“Never did learn when to shut up Johnny.”
“Love you too, LT,” Johnny beamed.
Simon just rolled his eyes and Johnny knew what the hand on his shoulder meant. He knew that his LT loved him too, even if he didn’t say it out loud. Hell, maybe he would survive today after all.
