You moved over to Tommy’s bed and called him to sit down. He did and you started the procedure, every cut seen being cleaned and bandages up when spotted.
Sitting on the floor you looked over his legs, then switching to a crouch as you looked over his torso. You pull yourself up on the bed to see his neck better. When you got there, you gave him a subtle sympathetic look, realising the new cut, this one deep too but not deep enough to end a life, just painful if moved the wrong way.
The cut went from three inches below his left ear to right above his Adam apple. He flinched when the water hit the cut you were anxiously washing. "I'm sorry," you whispered. You grabbed the salve and ran it over the cut with as little pressure as possible to where is would still work. Then you reached for the poultice and did the same.
Taking the bandages from his side and putting them in your hand, you apologised again for you knew this would hurt a lot more than the water - you'd have to apply more pressure than you'd want to, to make sure everything works right. He said he could take it - with the extra word of women - yet, when you tightened the bandage tentatively, he sucked in a quick breath, his hand tightening his grip on your thigh, and he shut his eyes closed hard.
You pulled him into a hug, being very careful as to not make contact with his neck or any other wound you fixed up. Not worrying about your own arm and what could happen if you put to much strain on it. Whispering you ask, "How do you do this? Keep yourself taken care of when in so much pain?"
He returned the touch, rested his head on yours and wrapped his arm around your torso. "I have you to take care of me" he mumbled into your hair and you smiled a little. You were well aware of your feelings for Tommy and how he affected you, it was times like these that made you think he felt the same way but then you reminded yourself of every reason that it's not possible.
You stayed like that for some time, just holding each other for comfort.
