Mario was pissed, scared, and had felt hopeless, Only him and Donkey Kong were stuck in the fishes mouth, the rest was taken somewhere, and only god knows what happend to peach and toad.
It was awful, And the only person he had to be with was Donky Kong, whom both hated each other The same amount. Mario sighed as he sat on a rock in the fishes mouth, donkey Kong on the other side, he seems to be a lot more upset then Mario, which was fair due to what happened on rainbow road.
“Fuck....” Donkey Kong in a sad tone, Mario felt guilty as heard the former crying, and honestly Mario couldn’t blame him, he would be crying himself if it weren’t for his father telling him “ If you cry or show you need help then you’re a coward weak man” god if only he could’ve tell his father how stupid that phrase is.
At least he had his brother there, to cry on his shoulder as he complained about their father.
Their father would always target Mario then anybody else, calling him “too weak ”, saying that “he wouldn’t make it in life”. It... it hurts hearing his own father didn’t have any faith in him.
Mario knew he needed to make thing right with him and donkey Kong, due to the both of them being stuck here with no way out.
“Donkey Kong.” Mario started as Donkey Kong looked at him. “I just wanted to say... I’m sorry for being a pain in the ass, and if you don’t forgive me, I’ll understand. I know I’ve been a dick since we first met but since we’re stuck here, might as well get along” he looked at donkey Kong’s eyes, they were gorgeous, even when he was sad, his eyes had an spark so much bigger that peach’s.
“I’m... sorry too, for also being a dick..”
Donkey Kong looked at Mario with an smile, god why did he look so.... pretty, he had no idea why he had these feelings but he didn’t care, seeing that smile made him forget everything that was happening.
Before he knew it, he spoke without thinking, he was so mesmerized by that smile, it made him feel like he was home again only with his mother and brother ‘no deadbeat father’ where she would make them cookies as they watch tv.
“Now that I’m thinking clear... your smile is pretty to look at, I’ve never noticed it until now and I regret not realizing sooner then later”
He could tell donkey Kong was flustered but he tried to not show it, seeing him like this is... nice, yes they had their arguments and fights but maybe...
Maybe they could start over. Try again to be better friends, to maybe be more then that.
“I..” donkey Kong started “I... I love how strong you’ve gotten since I first met you.... it’s remarkable how strong you’ve been under these circumstances..... wish I could do that..”
Mario could see donkey Kong starting to cry again, so he stood up from where he was sitting at and sat next to him, donkey Kong started sobbing. “I-I Wish I was as strong as you- you’re remarkable, I’ve never seen you cry, so that puts you ahead of me, god I’m so week for crying...”
Mario never was good at comforting people, that was Luigi, but he could try the things Luigi does to calm him down. “You’re not week for crying..” Mario wrapped both of his hands on donkey Kong’s.
“You’re strong for crying, it’s good to cry once in awhile. I’ve cried before, a lot before all of this, I used to beat myself up for crying before I realized that it’s normal and ok to cry.” Donkey Kong looked at Mario, then he shined a smile brighter than the sun itself, god something was awakening in Mario every time he looked at donkey Kong.
“Can I.... Can I kiss you..?” Mario said as his face flushed so red, more red then tomato sauce, he understands if donkey Kong said no then he would have to live with embarrassment for the rest of his life.
“Yes you can.” Donkey Kong replied as he put a hand to cup Mario’s cheek before gently rubbing a finger on Mario’s lips, Mario was screaming internally, he didn’t know how to kiss! So he just went for it.
Mario slowly and gently placed his lips to donkey Kong, his lips were so soft, like an fluffy blanket being draped on him after a hard day at work, or when he was finally able to fall asleep after not sleeping for days. It was wonderful, especially because donkey Kong was treating him like a fragile glass cup, being so careful and gentle with him and his lips.
They had to separate for moments just to catch their own breath then they continue to make out.
When they were done with making out, Mario started to speak. “I love you so much” donkey Kong had the spark in his eyes again, it made Mario happy. “I love you to” donkey Kong replied “and.. thank you for making me feel better” donkey Kong gave Mario an sincere smile.
