Chapter Text
Butters touches the side of his face. He has a dark purple bruise on his chin and a scratch on his forehead. His fingertips gently touch the bandage as he stares in the mirror. He takes a deep breath. Tears start to form in his eye as he stares at his face. He’s pale. Paler than usual.
Pain.
His head hurt from only using one eye, the other hidden under the bandage. The doctors weren’t sure how it would heal yet. The hours between the initial impact and receiving treatment caused severe damage they weren’t sure would heal properly.
Butters knows that his parents will insist that he goes to school on Monday.
Butters feels terrified.
He’d have to see Kenny.
He hasn’t seen anyone since…
Any other day, he’d be excited to see the other boy.
Kenny was the only one who was ever really nice...
And now...
All Butters knew was that they were playing... Then... Butters couldn’t see properly. And they pushed him around and made him bark like a dog. He didn’t want to play anymore. He told them. He didn’t want to play anymore. He wanted his mom.
Butters chokes back another sob.
“Butters, dear!”
He wipes his face and hurries down the stairs. “Yes, mama?”
“Butters, are you okay?” She leans down and touches his face. “My poor pretty baby.”
“Mom, I’m doin’ okay.” Butters smiles.
“Dearest, take your lunch and go back upstairs before your dad comes up from the basement.”
Butters was grounded after they came back from the doctor. No more playing outside for a week until he could learn to play safe. Butters takes his plate of food and hurries upstairs. His dad might take away his food if he dilly dallied too long. He hurried upstairs back to his room.
Butters ate at his desk. When he finished, he opened his window and stared out.
